There is no doubt that radiation has many side effects in our lives, so our goal in this study is to reduce our use of radiation in the diagnosis of tooth caries, and in order to achieve this goal we used the field of optical fiber in the detection of some diseases associated with oral and dental medicine. This diagnosis was accomplished by shedding light on the teeth, to be diagnosed and creating an image that allows the doctor to examine them and determine whether there are caries or any root problems. The principle is also used to detect oral cancer, fractures, and cracks in bones. This study also allows us to detect early caries, and this method saves time because it gives the diagnosis at the same time while the patient is in the treatment unit of the dental clinic. Thus the main advantages of this method are, enable the dentist to view images on the display unit attached to the clinic in real-time, compare current photos with old photos of the same patient. Also, the dentist can create a photo archive of each tooth individually and can retrieve and compare them whenever he wants.

Nowadays, the digitalization of the production-based industries is driven by emerging technologies tools. The concept of lean manufacturing (LM) towards Industry 4.0 was developed where data analytics of engineering processes are analyzed and connected to reduce wastes. Many authors discuss about the benefits of extending data analytics as a method to support decision. However, the absence of comprehensive framework on how to embed LM and IT tools has existed as a new challenge. The aim of the research is to initiate a framework of model driven decision support system (MD-DSS) where data simulation and communication technologies are accompanied for manufacturing process improvement. In this research, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) data was captured through internet networking system and simulate to predict the improvement output. The main information flow route within MD-DSS are demonstrated in detail to show how decision-making process. To illustrate the applicability of the MD-DSS, it has been applied at food industry in Malaysia. The results show that the MD-DSS can easily be adopted in factories facilited with internet network to support decision-making of improvement plan activities.

Undoubtedly, there is a necessity for establishing a more intelligent power system in the existing energy system, which is increased according to the development of wireless system network (WSN) and the Internet of Things (IoT). This study presents intelligent power monitoring and control with wireless sensor network techniques, based on WSNs and IoT technologies is designed to manage real-time power at buildings. This system includes a complete network of wireless sensing node, base station and a smart home gateway. A sensing node is utilized as wireless sensors to measure voltage and current and to calculate power consumption of connected appliances that are transmitted wirelessly to a base station via Zigbee node. A base station is designed to receive all data transmitted from the sensing node and display it through GUI available at the personal computer with the possibility of controlling ON and OFF appliances according to consumer requirements. All of these readings are stored at database for analysis. In addition, a smart home gateway is used to connect the system with internet, allowing consumers to continuous monitoring and remote control the appliances via a smartphone application. The benefit of this system is that the mechanism of appliances control can be done in different ways (manually, automatically and remotely). To ensure better accuracy of the equipment many appliances are tested and compared with practical measurement. Best results are obtained for the error, voltage, current and the power.

10.11591/ijeecs.v18.i2.pp938-945
Shireen S. Sadiq , Adnan Mohsin Abdulazeez , Habibollah Haron
A master production schedule (MPS) need find a good, perhaps optimal, plan for maximize service levels while minimizing inventory and resource usage. However, these are conflicting objectives and a tradeoff to reach acceptable values must be made. Therefore, several techniques have been proposed to perform optimization on production planning problems based on, for instance, linear and non-linear programming, dynamic-lot sizing and meta-heuristics. In particular, several meta- heuristics have been successfully used to solve MPS problems such as genetic algorithms (GA) and simulated annealing (SA). This paper proposes a memetic algorithm to solve multi-objective master production schedule (MOMPS). The proposed memetic algorithm combines the evolutionary operations of MA (such as mutation and Crossover) with local search operators (swap operator and inverse movement operator) to improve the solutions of MA and increase the diversity of the population). This algorithm has proved its efficiency in solving MOMPS problems compared with the genetic algorithm and simulated annealing. The results clearly showed the ability of the algorithm to evaluate properly how much, when and where extra capacities (overtime) are permitted so that the inventory can be lowered without influencing the level of service.

3D Medical image compression using the quincunx wavelet coupled with SPIHT

10.11591/ijeecs.v18.i2.pp821-828
Benlabbes Haouari
Medical imaging is a growing field due to the development of digital technologies that produce 3D and even 4D data. The counterpart to the resolution offered by these voluminal images resides in the amount of gigantic data, hence the need for compression. This article presents a new coding scheme dedicated to 3D medical images. The originality of our approach lies in the application of the Quinqunx wavelet transform coupled with the SPIHT encoder on a database of medical images. This approach achieves much higher compression rates, while maintaining a very acceptable visual quality.

In the last decade, facial recognition techniques are considered the most important fields of research in biometric technology. In this research paper, we present a Face Recognition (FR) system divided into three steps: The Viola-Jones face detection algorithm, facial image enhancement using Modified Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization algorithm (M-CLAHE), and feature learning for classification. For learning the features followed by classification we used VGG16, ResNet50 and Inception-v3 Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) architectures for the proposed system. Our experimental work was performed on the Extended Yale B database and CMU PIE face database. Finally, the comparison with the other methods on both databases shows the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed approach. Where the Inception-v3 architecture has achieved a rate of 99, 44% and 99, 89% respectively.

In this paper, a proposal was made to recreate an energy harvesting technique using biomass energy such as twigs, leaves, wood, paper, and charcoal emitted by burning the said materials and harvest the energy from the released heat. The harvested energy is then converted into a voltage that can be used to charge devices such as mobile phones or even turn on emergency lights. In terms of its application, the system can be used to provide backup power during disaster especially during a flood or other causes of power outages. The system can also be used to charge electronic devices during outdoor activities in remote areas where electricity is inaccessible such as camping or other outdoor activities. This system can produce free electric power that can also be extremely beneficial in third world countries. The cost of the module used is also much cheaper than other existing harvesting methods such as solar panels or water turbines. Based on test data collected using IoT platform, charcoal was determined as the best material in terms of output power generated.

This paper proposes a steady-state of the Static Var Compensator (SVC) & Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC) set up for enhancing the damping overall performance and growing the integral clearing time (CCT) of a power network. The indispensable clearing time is carried out through increasing the time fault interval until the gadget loses stability. Increasing the CCT can be contribute to reliability of the safety gadget, decrease the protection machine ranking and cost. In order to attain most enhancement of machine stability via optimizing location, sizing and control modes of SVC and TCSC. Models and methodology for putting and designing shunt FACT’s units SVC (injected reactive strength Q) and series FACT’s devices TCSC (chose capacitive region) are examined in a 6-bus system. Performance factors are described to show validation of SVC and TCSC on extraordinary conditions. It is proven that the SVC is better than TCSC.

10.11591/ijeecs.v18.i2.pp867-874
Swapna P S , Sakuntala S Pillai , Sreeni K. G
The widespread acceptance of symmetrical services has urged for performance betterment techniques in wireless communication systems. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for resource allocation in MIMO-OFDMA system for applications that demand similar quality in uplink and downlink direction. The problem is formulated as multiobjective optimization problem with objectives to maximize the bidirectional data rates for individual users and to minimize the difference between the uplink and downlink data rate for each user. Fairness has been considered as a constraint in the optimization problem. The power allocation for each subcarrier in the OFDMA system is carried out using Linear Programming (LP) techniques, while the subcarrier allocation problem has been undertaken using an innovative multiobjective optimization technique that employs the concept of non-dominance in evolutionary algorithms. The results are extremely encouraging as they outperform the algorithms reported in literature using linear programming techniques or evolutionary algorithms solely.

E. Sreeshobha , P.V.N. Prasad
Technique to evaluate probability of occurrence of selected contingencies of 6 Bus Roy Billinton Test System (RBTS) and IEEE 9 Bus system by Markov modelling is presented in this paper. Obtained probabilities for selected contingencies are validated by comparing with binomial distribution based probabilities. Load flow analysis and performance index based contingency ranking of total elements of 6 bus RBTS and IEEE 9 Bus systems is simulated by Power System Simulation for Engineers (PSSE) software. Novel reliability evaluation technique which unify contingency ranking with Markov modeling is proposed for RBTS and extended to IEEE 9 Bus system. Accuracy, completeness and simple to implement are salient features of proposed novel reliability evaluation method. Reliability of RBTS and IEEE 9 Bus systems can be improved by incorporating Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems (FACTS) device. Improvement in the reliability and economic revenue of RBTS and IEEE 9 Bus systems due to Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) incorporation is evaluated.
