Recommender system for surplus stock clearance

10.11591/ijece.v9i5.pp3813-3821
Vipul Agarwal , Vijayalakshmi A
Accumulation of the stock had been a major concern for retail shop owners. Surplus stock could be minimized if the system could continuously monitor the accumulated stock and recommend the stock which requires clearance. Recommender Systems computes the data, shadowing the manual work and give efficient recommendations to overcome stock accumulation, creating space for new stock for sale to enhance the profit in business. An intelligent recommender system was built that could work with the data and help the shop owners to overcome the issue of surplus stock in a remarkable way. An item-item collaborative filtering technique with Pearson similarity metric was used to draw the similarity between the items and accordingly give recommendations. The results obtained on the dataset highlighted the top-N items using the Pearson similarity and the Cosine similarity. The items having the highest rank had the highest accumulation and required attention to be cleared. The comparison is drawn for the precision and recall obtained by the similarity metrics used. The evaluation of the existing work was done using precision and recall, where the precision obtained was remarkable, while the recall has the scope of increment but in turn, it would reduce the value of precision. Thus, there lies a scope of reducing the stock accumulation with the help of a recommender system and overcome losses to maximize profit

Le Trong Nghia , Quyen Huy Anh , Phan Thi Thanh Binh , N Thai An , P. H. Hau
This paper proposes a method for determining location and calculating the minimum amount of power load needed to shed in order to recover the frequency back to the allowable range. Based on the consideration of the primary control of the turbine governor and the reserve power of the generators for secondary control, the minimum amount of load shedding was calculated in order to recover the frequency of the power system. Computation and analysis of the voltage electrical distance between the outage generator and the loads to prioritize distribution of the amount power load shedding at load bus positions. The nearer the load bus from the outage generator is, the higher the amount of load shedding will shed and vice versa. With this technique, a large amount of load shedding could be avoided, hence, saved from economic losses, and customer service interruption. The effectiveness of the proposed method tested on the IEEE 37 bus 9 generators power system standard has demonstrated the effectiveness of this method.

The Electro-hydraulic actuator (EHA) systems known to be extremely nonlinear due to its dynamic characteristics and these existing nonlinearities and uncertainties yield to the constraint in the control of EHA system, which influences the position tracking accuracy and affect the occurrences of leakage and friction in the system. The purpose of this work is to develop the mathematical model for the industrial electrohydraulic actuator, then to design a controller by proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and optimize the parameters using Particle Swarm Optimization - Gravitational Search Algorithm (PSOGSA). A few controllers such as conventional PID (CPID) and model reference adaptive control (MRAC) designed for comparison. The performance of PID, PID-PSOGSA and modern controller MRAC will be compared in order to determine the most efficient controller. Despite all controllers are capable to provide good performance, PID-PSOGSA control methods generate good response compared to PID and MRAC in term of positioning.

Chaos theory has several applications in science and engineering. In this work, we announce a new two-scroll chaotic system with two nonlinearities. The dynamical properties of the system such as dissipativity, equilibrium points, Lyapunov exponents, Kaplan-Yorke dimension and bifurcation diagram are explored in detail. The presence of coexisting chaotic attractors, coexisting chaotic and periodic attractors in the system is also investigated. In addition, the offset boosting of a variable in the new chaotic system is achieved by adding a single controlled constant. It is shown that the new chaotic system has rotation symmetry about the z-axis. An electronic circuit simulation of the new two-scroll chaotic system is built using Multisim to check the feasibility of the theoretical model.

Munef Abdullah; Northern Technical University Ahmed , Raed Abdulkareem; Northern Technical University Hasan , Ahmed Hussein; AL Salam University Ali , Mostafa Abdulghafoor; Great Imam University College Mohammed
In recent years, working on text classification and analysis of Arabic texts using machine learning has seen some progress, but most of this research has not focused on Arabic poetry. Because of some difficulties in the analysis of Arabic poetry, it was required the use of standard Arabic language on which “Al Arud”, the science of studying poetry is based. This paper presents an approach that uses machine learning for the classification of modern Arabic poetry into four types: love poems, Islamic poems, social poems, and political poems. Each of these species usually has features that indicate the class of the poem. Despite the challenges generated by the difficulty of the rules of the Arabic language on which this classification depends, we proposed a new automatic way of modern Arabic poems classification to solve these issues. The recommended method is suitable for the above-mentioned classes of poems. This study used Naïve Bayes, Support Vector Machines, and Linear Support Vector for the classification processes. Data preprocessing was an important step of the approach in this paper, as it increased the accuracy of the classification.

Shahril Irwan Sulaiman , Nur Amira Ali
Hybrid photovoltaic-diesel generator power system is important for rural electrification with the diesel generator supplying electricity when battery bank fails to meet the load demand. However, the operation of diesel generator could also be very costly due to high operation and maintenance cost when compared to photovoltaic-battery system. As a result, proper sizing must be conducted to determine the economic indicators of the hybrid photovoltaic-diesel generator system throughout its lifetime. This paper presents the design of such system for an island resort in Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia. HOMER software was used to simulate the design parameters and economic performance of the system as compared to the existing diesel generator system. Apart from that, different capacities of PV array, battery bank and inverter were investigated in this study to determine the optimum configuration of these components such that the total cost of supplying the load demand at the resort could be minimized. The results showed that the hybrid photovoltaic-diesel generator system is more economically feasible than the existing diesel generator system used at the resort.

Mohd Fairus Mohd; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Yusoff , Lim Jit; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Min , Mohamad Rijal; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Hamid , Zaharah; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Johari , Muhammad Naeem; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Iqbal
Fifth-generation (5G) is a wireless connection built specifically to keep up with the rapid increase of devices that need a mobile internet connection. A system working on 5G band can provide higher bandwidth and faster data rate as compared to fourth-generation (4G) band. Thus, an antenna with higher gain and lower profile is required to support this system. On the other hand, the performance of circular polarization antenna is better than linear polarization antenna due to its ability to accept wave from different direction. In this project, a low profile circular polarization folded reflectarray antenna with operating frequency of 28 GHz is presented. This project is divided into two parts. In the first part, a linear polarization folded reflectarray antenna is designed. In this second part, a meander lines polarizer is used to convert the linear polarization antenna to circular polarization antenna. The antenna is fed by a linear polarized waveguide. Each radiating element of the antenna is in rectangular shape. The size of the radiating elements are selected according to obtain required phase delay to form a planar phase front in the far-field distance. Both of the antennas are simulated by using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. Finally, the results shows excellent performances with 16.81dB directivity and 1.49dB axial ratio at 28GHz. Thus, the antenna is very suitable for 5G applications.

Van-Duc; Nguyen Tat Thanh University Phan , Minh; Ton Duc Thang University Tran , Le Anh; Ton Duc Thang University Vu , Hoang-Nam; Ton Duc Thang University Nguyen , Tran Thanh; Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry Trang
In this study, we investigate the effect of concentration of the red Y2O3:Eu3+ phosphor on the Color Rendering Index (CRI), Color Quality Scale (CQS) and Lumen Output (LO) of the 7000K in-cup packaging white LEDs (IPW-LEDs). The physical model of the 7000K IPW-LEDs is conducted by Light Tools software. By varying the concentration of the red phosphor from 0% to 0.36%, we use the Light Tools software to investigate the CRI, CQS, and LO of the 7000K IPW-LEDs. From the research results, it can be observed that the CRI and CQS can be increased to 85 and 71, respectively. However, the LO has a decrease in the increasing trend of the red phosphor concentration. This paper provides the new recommendation for the manufacturing of the IPW-LEDs.
