Sensors connected to the cloud services equipped with data analytics has created a plethora of new type of applications ranging from personal to an industrial level forming to what is known today as Internet of Things (IoT). IoT-based system follows a pattern of data collection, data analytics, automation, and system improvement recommendations. However, most applications would have its own unique requirements in terms of the type of the smart devices, communication technologies as well as its application provisioning service. In order to enable an IoT-based system, various services are commercially available that provide services such as backend-as-a-service (BaaS) and software-as-a-service (SaaS) hosted in the cloud. This, in turn, raises the issues of security and privacy. However there is no plug-and-play IoT middleware framework that could be deployed out of the box for on-premise server. This paper aims at providing a lightweight IoT middleware that can be used to enable IoT applications owned by the individuals or organizations that effectively securing the data on-premise or in remote server. Specifically, the middleware with a standardized application programming interface (API) that could adapt to the application requirements through high level abstraction and interacts with the application service provider is proposed. Each API endpoint would be secured using Access Control List (ACL) and easily integratable with any other modules to ensure the scalability of the system as well as easing system deployment. In addition, this middleware could be deployed in a distributed manner and coordinate among themselves to fulfil the application requirements. A middleware is presented in this paper with GET and POST requests that are lightweight in size with a footprint of less than 1 KB and a round trip time of less than 1 second to facilitate rapid application development by individuals or organizations for securing IoT resources.

Chanintorn Jittawiriyanukoon
IoT is the succeeding cohort of the digital computing environment. A swift progression in the IoT deployment and its applications are on the rise. Improving load balancing mechanisms induces healthier performance of the internet based computing as higher number of users can be comfortable. Implementing full services for tasks with unstable concurrency is an uphill process. One of the encounters allied with this administration is the task partition among the applications, regularly referred as concurrent programs. Through load balancing not only resources are equally utilized but also concurrent job’s response time can be promoted. Therefore, in this paper the widely used load balancing algorithms are investigated and yet the proposed algorithm is introduced. Simulation is employed in order to compare the performance metrics such as mean queue length, utilization and throughput between the recommended and existing algorithms. The proposed algorithm confirms the load balancing and outperforms when processing unstable concurrent programs.

10.11591/ijaas.v8.i2.pp125-135
Sahil Mehta , Prasenjit Basak
The accurate forecasting of solar irradiance depends on various uncertain parameters like time of day, temperature, wind speed, humidity, and atmospheric pressure. All these play an important role in calculating PV power output. In this paper, a novel approach for forecasting of solar irradiance using flexible and accurate fuzzy logic and robust multi-linear regression approach has been proposed considering the above mentioned five variables. Based on the simultaneous consideration of those five variables, the solar irradiance is forecasted using the proposed methodology at a particular location in India, and the results are compared with the real time measured value of solar irradiance at that location on the days for which solar irradiance are forecasted. The proposed method is validated by comparing the results with real time data. The error analysis of the fuzzy logic based proposed system shows the root mean square error of 10.011 and mean absolute percentage error of 1.703%, while compared with real time data measured by instruments pyranometer, anemometer etc. The same results are found better while compared with the results obtained using multilinear regression approach.

The main objective of this study is to determine the factors influence consumers in Oman to switch from in-store to electronic purchasing. Therefore, four constructs (perceived ease of use (PEU), perceived usefulness (PU), facilitating conditions (FC), and social influence (SI)) have been employed in this study which are adopted through the integration between UTUAT and TAM models. The respondent in this study were students from Sultan Qaboos University and Dhofar University, 537 cases have been analysed. Exploratory, confirmatory, and structural equation modelling techniques have been employed in this research using SPSS 25, AMOS 25 software. The study revealed that (PU), (FC), and (SI) have a positive and significant influence on the consumers’ behavioural intention in Oman to switch into electronic purchasing. While, the findings demonstrated that there is no significant effect by (PEU) on the consumers’ behavioural intention to transform from traditional to electronic purchasing. The study provides business and consumers, a good interpretation about the factors influence the transformation to e-purchasing. In addition, this paper encourages companies to shift to interaction e-purchasing portals which help businesses to target different marketplace inside and outside of country to increase sell ratio to sustain their business. However, up to the researchers’ knowledge this study considered to be among the first studies which provide another clearer view of e-purchasing in Oman by incorporating selected factors from two different theories. i.e. incorporating two factors related to the use of technology with other two variables about the required technical resources, and the social effect on individuals to use new technology, thereby being unique and original.

10.12928/telkomnika.v17i3.11131
Mothana L.; Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) Attiah , A. A.; Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) Md Isa , Zahriladha; Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) Zakaria , M. K.; Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) Abdulhameed , Mowafak K.; Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) Mohsen , Ahmed M.; Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) Dinar
Spectrum sharing paradigm (SSP) has recently emerged as an attractive solution to provide capital expenditure (CapEx) and operating expenditure (OpEx) savings and to enhance spectrum utilization (SU). However, practical issues concerning the implementation of such paradigm are rarely addressed (e.g., mutual interference, fairness, and mmWave base station density). Therefore, in this paper, we proposed ultra-reliable and proportionally fair hybrid spectrum sharing access strategy that aims to address the aforementioned aspects as a function of coverage probability (CP), average rate distributions (ARD), and the number of mmWave base stations (mBSs). In this strategy, the spectrum is sliced into three parts (exclusive, semi-pooled, and fully pooled). A typical user that belongs to certain operator has the right to occupy a part of the spectrum available in the high and low frequencies (28 and 73 GHz) based on an adaptive multi-state mmWave cell selection scheme (AMMC-S) which associates the user with the tagged mBS that offers a highest SINR to maintain more reliable connection and enrich the user experience. Numerical results show that significant improvement in terms of ARD, CP, fairness among operators, and maintain an acceptable level of mBSs density.

10.12928/telkomnika.v17i3.10050
Jaka; Institut Teknologi Bandung Sembiring , Fitasari; Institut Teknologi Bandung Wiharni
In many cases poor information quality appears mainly due to in-effectiveness of information management including information production and delivery. Where this situation poses a certain risk. A holistic information risk management model has been previously proposed. But the model has some limitations especially on risk calculation and risk priority ranking as the model does not consider existing control effectiveness. In this paper, a new risk assessment method is proposed in order to improve the model of total impact of risks and to improve the accuracy of risk priority ranking by modifying the extended risk matrix approach (RMA) where we take into account the existing control effectiveness. Using our approach by adding a new dimension on extended RMA. We are able to improve the accuracy (7.15%) and reduced the ambiguity (1.34) of assessment results on real cases illustration.
