Misdistribution of physicians is still an issue, especially physicians’ lack of interest to work in rural area. Finding characteristics from medical students that show interest to work in rural areas is important to craft effective policy to enforce young physicians to work in rural areas. This study was quantitative analytics. Participants rated the influence of 19 factors that affect their interest towards working in rural area using translated and validated questionnaire, distributed online to all medical students from 20 medical faculties in Sumatra. Out of 1124 respondents, 748 (66.5%) subjects interested to work in rural area. Determinants which influence medical students’ interest towards working in rural area are past experience of visiting rural area (p<0.001), careers opportunity (p<0.001), family’s socioeconomic status (p=0.001), proximity to family (p=0.001), rural area’s facilities (p=0.002), culture of rural community (p=0.005), students’ lifestyle (p=0.005), rural curriculum (p=0.007), proximity to spouse (p=0.031) and location of university (p=0.049). Past experience of visiting rural area (OR 2.281, p<0.001) is the most determining factor to influence students’ interest towards working in rural area. Medical students mostly interested to work in rural area. Past experience of visiting rural area was the most influential factor for medical students’ interest on rural practices

Design of parallel and pipelined DA based OBC fir filter for software defined radio

10.11591/ijeecs.v14.i3.pp1228-1234
Rajmohan Madasamy , Himanshu Shekhar
Software Defined Radio (SDR) is a new technology used to implement different wireless communication standard for mobile communication. The Intermediate Frequency (IF) block is the most demanding block in software defined radio. The most important task in intermediate processing block is digital filtering which is carried out by Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter. One of the major techniques for the calculation of inner product is Distributed Arithmetic (DA) based FIR filter which uses Look Up Table (LUT) to eliminate the need of multiplier. The efficiency of the DA filter is affected with the increasing number of address line and also due to its serial operation. To overcome this problem parallel and pipeline based DA filter using Offset Binary Coding (OBC) for Two Bit At A Time (2-BAAT) is proposed. Our proposed method achieves less area, low power consumption and nominal delay for SDR application.

Ahmed F. Al-Mukhtar , Eman S. Al-shamery
Complex networks provide means to represent different kinds of networks with multiple features. Most biological, sensor and social networks can be represented as a graph depending on the pattern of connections among their elements. The goal of the graph clustering is to divide a large graph into many clusters based on various similarity criteria’s. Political blogs as standard social dataset network, in which it can be considered as blog-blog connection, where each node has political learning beside other attributes. The main objective of work is to introduce a graph clustering method in social network analysis. The proposed Structure-Attribute Similarity (SAS-Cluster) able to detect structures of community, based on nodes similarities. The method combines topological structure with multiple characteristics of nodes, to earn the ultimate similarity. The proposed method is evaluated using well-known evaluation measures, Density, and Entropy. Finally, the presented method was compared with the state-of-art comparative method, and the results show that the proposed method is superior to the comparative method according to the evaluations measures.

Abdu Oumer Abdu , Arif H. Hussein
Low maternal risk perception, poor dietary practice and low adherence to iron and folate tablets among pregnant women are major contributors for higher burden of anemia. Iron deficiency anemia contribute to more than half of Anemia among pregnant women. Thus the level of maternal awareness and attitude towards dietary and other prevention practices of anemia are not well established in the study area. This study was to assess knowledge, attitude and practice of pregnant mothers towards the prevention of iron deficiency anemia in Ethiopia, 2018. Hospital based cross sectionals study was conducted on randomly selected, 128 pregnant mothers attending antenatal care service in Harar town. Data were collected by health professionals using pre tested questionnaire containing socio demographic, knowledge, attitude and practice related questions. Attitude questions were organized in five Likert scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree using positive statements. Similarly, practices were assessed in yes/no (appropriate practices were scored as yes or no otherwise). Data was analyzed using SPSS version 20 using frequency, tables, graphs and means. Pearson correlation with r was used to assess the relationship between knowledge, attitude and practice. Analysis of Variance was used to compare the mean practice by different factors. Knowledge, attitude and practice of pregnant women on preventions of IDA are not satisfactory. Thus poor practice towards prevention of IDA is the main contributing factor for high burden of anemia.

Adeniyi Francis Fagbamigbe , Rotimi F. Afolabi , Oyindamola B. Yusuf
Teenage pregnancy (TP) is a recurrent global and public health problem. It poses both social and health challenges. Considering the massive campaign on the use of modern contraceptives to prevent TP in recent decades, we assessed trends in TP in Nigeria between 1961 and 2013. Pregnancy and contraception history of 70,811 women who were at least 20 years old when the Nigerian DHS was conducted in 1990, 2003, 2008, and 2013 respectively were used for the study, and descriptive statistics, time analysis techniques and multiple logistic regression were used to analyze the data at 5% significance level. The overall prevalence of TP between 1961 and 2013 was 49.5% which fluctuated insignificantly during the studied period. The TP prevalence among women who entered adulthood in 1961 was 39.2%; it peaked in 1978 at 58.9% before its unsteady decline to 39.6% in 2012, and then rose sharply to 55.6% in 2013. We predicted TP prevalence as 49.0%, 49.9% and 51.0% in 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively. The odds of TP were over 4 times higher in the North East and 5 times higher in the North West than in the South West. Teenagers with no education had higher odds of TP and it was higher among teenagers from the poorest households (OR=5.64, 95% CI: 5.36-5.94). Rather than reducing with the worldwide acknowledged increase in contraceptive campaigns, TP increased over the years studied. As far as TP is concerned in Nigeria, the impact of the campaign on MC use is far from being effective. To achieve the objective of fewer TPs, fewer resources should be spent on access to contraception and instead diverted to areas more likely to achieve results such as improvements in educational achievement amongst girls.

Ni Putu Wulan Purnama Sari , Jintana Artsanthia
Due to increasing age, elderly are prone to non-communicable diseases (NCD), such as hypertension (HT) and diabetes mellitus (DM). Easy physical condition monitoring of people with HT and/or DM is by measuring their blood pressure (BP) and/or blood glucose level (BGL) periodically. This study aimed to compare and analyze the differences of BP and BGL among elderly with HT and/or DM in Bangkok and Surabaya. This cross-sectional study involved 100 and 96 elderly with HT and/or DM in communities of Bangkok and Surabaya respectively (n=196). There were three groups of samples which consisted of 60 DM, 68 HT, and 68 DM&HT cases. Instruments used were demography questionnaire, sphygmomanometer, and glucometer. Test of one-way ANOVA, Least Significant Difference (LSD), Kruskal-Wallis, and Mann-Whitney U were used for data analysis (α<.05). There was a significant difference of systolic and diastolic BP found between groups (p=.000 and p=.011 respectively), but no difference found between the groups of HT and DM&HT (p=.657 and p=.330 respectively). There was a significant difference of BGL found between groups (p=.002), but no difference found between the groups of HT and DM (p=.075) and between the groups of DM and DM&HT (p=.066). BP is significantly different between the group of HT and DM in term of systole and diastole, especially in elderly, but BGL is similar. The risk of being HT for elderly with DM is very high. Elderly with DM&HT have high BP and BGL similarly to those with single disease of HT or DM.

Improved reliable multilevel inverter for renewable energy systems

10.11591/ijeecs.v14.i3.pp1141-1147
Sujatha M , A.K. Parvathy
New improved multilevel inverter (MLI) topology for Renewable energy systems is proposed in this paper. Cascaded multilevel inverters (CMLI) produce an output voltage level depending on the number of individual sources connected. The main drawback of CMLI is, as the output voltage level increases in number, the switches used in the device also increases and hence the complexity of the circuit increases. As the number of switches increases, the reliability of the circuit decreases. In this paper a novel MLI topology, which employs lesser number of switches, is proposed. A simulation model of CMLI and the proposed MLI has been built in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The reliability of the CMLI and the new topology MLI is analyzed by using MIL-HDBK-217.

A new encrypted method in image steganography

10.11591/ijeecs.v14.i3.pp1412-1419
Sabyasachi Pramanik , R P Singh , Ramkrishna Ghosh
Steganography is data hiding technique in internet. Here we send CAPTCHA codes within a cover image using Image steganography. CAPTCHA are the crazy codes. They are used in human response test. The word is actually an acronym for: "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart". It is a type of challenge–response test used in computing to determine whether or not the user is a human. Websites implement CAPTCHA codes into their registration processes due to spam. This is the utility of CAPTCHA codes. Here we generate CAPTCHA codes and later send them in an encrypted version. So, actually CAPTCHA codes are embedded into cover image with an encrypted form resulting stego image and thus attackers cannot fetch the actual CAPTCHA resulting in a secured transmission of confidential data using image steganography.

Teacher and student interactions and characteristics from critical theorists school

10.11591/ijere.v8i2.17926
Akbar Salehi
In recent years, critical thinkers have done serious discussions in education and other fields in our lives like social, cultural, political and economical. This paper is going to consider some of the critical thinkers’ theories in order to clarify teacher and student interactions in education. The research is a type of fundamental and qualitative study which frames teacher and student interactions by means of a descriptive – analytical method. Accordingly, we introduce critical teacher as a teacher who includes specific characteristics like emancipation, critical nature and openness. Therefore mentioned teacher attends the role of culture in human life and he resists reproduced by the regime. He is someone who provides the way for public hearing; in addition, he teaches his students how to resist domination. On the other side, a student in this school will not be dominated by the regime by means of its essential tools as probe and questioning. A student has been taught to hear everyone regardless of race, religion and social class. Finally, this paper proposes applying these ideas for educational systems informal and operational ways.

Predictors of post prandial glucose level in diabetic elderly

10.11591/ijphs.v8i2.19022
Ni Putu Wulan Purnama Sari , Maria Manungkalit
Post prandial glucose (PPG) level describes the speed of glucose absorption after 2 hours of macronutrient consumption. By knowing this, we could get the big picture of insulin regulation function and macronutrient metabolism in our body. In elderly, age-related slower glucose metabolism leads to diabetes mellitus (DM) in older age. This study aimed to analyze the predictors of PPG level in diabetics elderly which consist of functional status, self-care activity, sleep quality, and stress level. Cross-sectional study design was applied in this study. There were 45 diabetic elderly participated by filling in study instruments. Pearson and Spearman Rank correlation test were used in data analysis (α<.05). Results showed that most respondents were female elderly, 60-74 years old, had DM for 1-5 years with no family history, and only 33.33% respondents reported regular consumption of oral anti diabetes (OAD). Hypertension was found to be frequent comorbidity. Statistical analysis results showed that functional status, self-care activity, sleep quality, and stress level were not significantly correlated with PPG level in diabetic elderly (all p>α), therefore these variables could not be PPG level predictors. Other factors may play a more important role in predicting PPG level in diabetic elderly.

Privileged authenticity in reconstruction of digital encrypted shares

10.11591/ijai.v8.i2.pp175-180
Joydeep Dey , Anirban Bhowmik , Arindam Sarkar , Sunil Karforma
Efficient message reconstruction mechanism depends on the entire partial shares received in random manner. This paper proposed a technique to ensure the authenticated accumulation of shares based on the privileged share. Threshold number of received shares inclusive of the privileged share, were being accumulated together to validate the original message. Although attaining threshold number of shares or more excluding the privileged share, it would not be possible to reconstruct the original message. Encryptional procedure has been put into the desired partial shares to confuse the evaesdroppers. Decisive parameter termed as hash tag has been extracted from the cumulative shares and bitwise checking procedure has been carried out. In appearance of first mismatch, rests of the checking bits were ignored, as test case put under failure transaction. Different statistical tests namely floating frequency, entropy value have proved the robustness of the proposed technique. Thus, extensive experiments were conducted to evaluate the security and efficiency with better productivity.
