Optimization of smart traffic lights to prevent traffic congestion using fuzzy logic

10.12928/telkomnika.v17i1.10129
Dian; Sekolah Tinggi Teknik PLN Hartanti , Rosida Nur; Sekolah Tinggi Teknik PLN Aziza , Puji Catur; Sekolah Tinggi Teknik PLN Siswipraptini
One of the main causes of traffic congestion, especially at intersections, is because traffic lights have not been able to show the right time according to the existing traffic conditions. Time settings based on peak/off-peak traffic lights are not enough to handle unexpected situations. The fuzzy mamdani method makes decisions with several stages, the criteria used are the number of vehicles, the length of the queue and the width of the road to be able to optimize the time settings based on the real-time conditions required so that unwanted green signals (when there is no queue) can be avoided. The purpose of this research is to create a simulator to optimize traffic time management, so that the timers on each track have the intelligence to predict the right time, so that congestion at the intersection can be reduced by adding up to 15 seconds of green light from the previous time in the path of many vehicles.

9tka is a board game created by Adam Kaluza. The game can be played with 2 up to 4 players, with the goal of conquering as many areas in the board as possible. The aim of this research is to implement the 9tka game into a digital game that can be played on a personal computer. The implementation will include the feature to play against computer players. The rules and game’s play of 9tka is modelled, and then implemented using Java. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) of the computer player is implemented using the MaxN algorithm, which is an extension of the minimax algorithm. Several tests were done to gauge the robustness of the implemented AI. The experiments show that the AI is capable to make a move in time less than 541 milliseconds on average, across all types of players. Moreover, from eight respondents, the average amount of human wins is 2.25 out of 5 matches, across all types of players. This shows that the implemented AI on computer player has a better chance to defeat human opponents.

Generating similarity cluster of Indonesian languages with semi-supervised clustering

10.11591/ijece.v9i1.pp531-538
Arbi Haza Nasution , Yohei Murakami , Toru Ishida
Lexicostatistic and language similarity clusters are useful for computational linguistic researches that depends on language similarity or cognate recognition. Nevertheless, there are no published lexicostatistic/language similarity cluster of Indonesian ethnic languages available. We formulate an approach of creating language similarity clusters by utilizing ASJP database to generate the language similarity matrix, then generate the hierarchical clusters with complete linkage and mean linkage clustering, and further extract two stable clusters with high language similarities. We introduced an extended k-means clustering semi-supervised learning to evaluate the stability level of the hierarchical stable clusters being grouped together despite of changing the number of cluster. The higher the number of the trial, the more likely we can distinctly find the two hierarchical stable clusters in the generated k-clusters. However, for all five experiments, the stability level of the two hierarchical stable clusters is the highest on 5 clusters. Therefore, we take the 5 clusters as the best clusters of Indonesian ethnic languages. Finally, we plot the generated 5 clusters to a geographical map.

A harmonic source diagnostic analytic is vital to identify the root causes and type of harmonic source in power system. This paper introduces a verification of periodogram technique to diagnose harmonic sources by using logistic regression classifier. A periodogram gives a correct and accurate classification of harmonic signals. Signature recognition pattern is used to distinguish the harmonic sources accurately by obtaining the distribution of harmonic and interharmonic components and the harmonic contribution changes. This is achieved by using the significant signature recognition of harmonic producing load obtained from the harmonic contribution changes. To verify the performance of the propose method, a logistic regression classifier will analyse the result and give the accuracy and positive rate percentage of the propose method. The adequacy of the proposed methodology is tested and verified on distribution system for several rectifier and inverter-based loads.

Rostam Affendi; Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka Hamzah , Melvin Gan Yeou; Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka Wei , Nik Syahrim Nik; Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka Anwar
This article presents a new algorithm for object detection using stereo camera system. The problem to get an accurate object detion using stereo camera is the imprecise of matching process between two scenes with the same viewpoint. Hence, this article aims to reduce the incorrect matching pixel with four stages. This new algorithm is the combination of continuous process of matching cost computation, aggregation, optimization and filtering. The first stage is matching cost computation to acquire preliminary result using an absolute differences method. Then the second stage known as aggregation step uses a guided filter with fixed window support size. After that, the optimization stage uses winner-takes-all (WTA) approach which selects the smallest matching differences value and normalized it to the disparity level. The last stage in the framework uses a bilateral filter. It is effectively further decrease the error on the disparity map which contains information of object detection and locations. The proposed work produces low errors (i.e., 12.11% and 14.01% nonocc and all errors) based on the KITTI dataset and capable to perform much better compared with before the proposed framework and competitive with some newly available methods.

A multi-section coupled-line balun design for an ultra-wideband diode mixer is presented in this paper. The multi-section coupled-line balun was used to interface with the diode mixer in which it can deliver a good impedance matching between the diode mixer and input/output ports. The mixer design operates with a Local Oscillator (LO) power level of 10 dBm, Radio Frequency (RF) power level of -20 dBm and Intermediate Frequency (IF) of 100 MHz with the balun characteristic of 180° phase shift over UWB frequency (3.1 to 10.6 GHz), the mixer design demonstrated a good conversion loss of -8 to -16 dB over the frequency range from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz. Therefore, the proposed multi-section coupled-line balun for application of UWB mixer showed a good isolation between the mixer’s ports.

Lane detection system for day vision using altera DE2

10.12928/telkomnika.v17i1.10071
Amjad J.; University of Technology Humaidi , Mohammed Abdulraheem; University of Information Technology and Communication Fadhel , Ahmed R.; Middle Technical University Ajel
The active safety systems used in automotive field are largely exploiting lane detection technique for warning the vehicle drivers to correct any unintended road departure and to reach fully autonomous vehicles. Due to its ability, to be programmed, to perform complex mathematical functions and its characterization of high speed processing, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) could cope with the requirement of lane detection implementation and application. In the present work, lane detection is implemented using FPGA for day vision. This necessitates utilization of image processing techniques like filtering, edge detection and thresholding. The lane detection is performed by firstly capturing the image from a video camera and converted to gray scale. Then, a noise filtering process for gray image is performed using Gaussian and average filter. Methods from first and second order edge detection techniques have been selected for the purpose of lane edge detection. The effect of manually changing the threshold level on image enhancement has been examined. The results showed that raising threshold level would better enhance the image. The type of FPGA device used in the present work is Altera DE2. Firstly, the version DE2 Cyclone II start with (11xxxxxx-xxxx) together with Genx camera has been used. This camera supports both formats NTSC and PAL, while the above version of FPGA backups only NTSC format. The software of lane detection is designed and coded using Verilog language.

10.12928/telkomnika.v17i1.11585
Rosihan Ari; Universitas Sebelas Maret Yuana , Ignasius Agus; Universitas Sebelas Maret Leonardo , Cucuk Wawan; Universitas Sebelas Maret Budiyanto
Despite the adoption of Learning Management Systems (LMS) has been continuously growing in the last decade few, if any, scholars addressed the lack of the interactivity in online learning systems. The requirement for an interactive learning model has been increasingly prominent as content providers realize the importance of personalization of content suits to learners’ learning progress. This paper demonstrates the adoption of adaptive learning into existing LMS engine to overcome the limitation of either systems plugins or server specification pertinent to students’ psychomotor abilities in computer programming learning. In this regard,  the psychomotor is understood as the ability of students to write the program code as correctly as expected. In this study, a web API model that works to run an interpreter based-program code remotely was developed. The web API model can be utilized by LMS so it becomes the solution to the problem. The structure of the web API model has been adapted to the needs of the learning assessment. The implementation of the developed API web model is done in Python and PHP programming languages. The performance test was done by submitting 10 to 100 program codes simultaneously indicated no significant difference to the required resources (CPU usage and memory usage) to run the program code. Furthermore, for response time, the average time needed to run Python and PHP program code is also no significant difference. The average of CPU usage required by the web API to run a Python program code is 0.2058% with 0.5973 seconds as a response time. Meanwhile, to run the PHP program code, the average CPU usage required is 0.8074% with 0.3110 seconds response time. It can be concluded that the web API performance does not overburden the server.
