Tole Sutikno , Aiman Zakwan Jidin , Auzani Jidin , Nik Rumzi Nik Idris
This paper presents three strategies to implement non restoring square root algorithm based on FPGA. A new basic building block is called controlled subtract-multiplex (CSM) is introduced in first strategy which use gate level abstraction. The main principle of the method is similar with conventional non-restoring algorithm, but it only uses subtract operation and append 01, while add operation and append 11 is not used. Second strategy presents the first strategy in register transfer level (RTL) abstraction. In third strategy, a modification for the implementation of conventional non-restoring algorithm is presented which also use RTL abstraction. The all above strategies is implemented in VHDL programming and adopt fully pipelined architecture. The strategies have conducted to implement successfully in FPGA hardware, and each of the strategies is offer an efficient in hardware resource. In generally, the third strategy is superior.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i4.6008

https://ijece.iaescore.com/index.php/IJECE/article/view/5518
Md. Ruhul Amin , Rajib Baran Roy
In high voltage AC system, the system voltage and frequency change rapidly with the variation of load. The reactive power also changes with the variation of load which affects the system voltage therefore it is necessary to analyze the power system in order to determine system parameters and its variation under various load conditions. The capacitor bank size is determined by calculating existing reactive power and required reactive power in system for Static VAR Compensator (SVC) is focused in this paper. Base case load flow is used to analysis power system. After identifying low voltage buses, arbitrary caciptor back is imposed in bueses and results are checked whether it is met or not in the system demand level. Here MATLAB coding is used to find the low voltage affected bus and automated calculation of capacitor back size is done by MATLAB also. The proposed method of identification of low voltage buses and determination of capacitor bank are faster and easier than the conventional method.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i4.5803

Zhigao Zheng , Jing Liu , Ping Wang , Shengli Sun
To overcome the limitations of the traditional collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm, this paper proposed a Time-Weighted Uncertain Nearest Neighbor Collaborative Filtering Algorithm (TWUNCF). According to the actual application situation of recommendation system, the author weighted the product similarity and user similarity to ensure the data validity firstly, and then calculate the similarities of user and product and choose the trusted neighbor group as the recommended object adaptively based on the weight. Experimental results show that the algorithm can be used to improve data validity according to the time attribute, and balance the impact the different groups on the recommendation result, and avoid the problems which caused by the data sparseness. Theoretical analysis and experimental demonstrations show that the algorithm this paper proposed outperforms existing algorithms in recommendation quality, and improve the system's accuracy and recommendation efficiency.

A Novel Retinal Blood Vessel Segmentation Algorithm using Fuzzy segmentation

https://ijece.iaescore.com/index.php/IJECE/article/view/5534
Razieh Akhavan , Karim Faez
Assessment of blood vessels in retinal images is an important factor for many medical disorders. The changes in the retinal vessels due to the pathologies can be easily identified by segmenting the retinal vessels. Segmentation of retinal vessels is done to identify the early diagnosis of the disease like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, hypertensive retinopathy and arteriosclerosis. In this paper, we propose an automatic blood vessel segmentation method. The proposed algorithm starts with the extraction of blood vessel centerline pixels. The final segmentation is obtained using an iterative region growing method that merges the binary images resulting from centerline detection part with the image resulting from fuzzy vessel segmentation part. In this proposed algorithm, the blood vessel is enhanced using modified morphological operations and the salt and pepper noises are removed from retinal images using Adaptive Fuzzy Switching Median filter. This method is applied on two publicly available databases, the DRIVE and the STARE and the experimental results obtained by using green channel images have been presented and compared with recently published methods. The results demonstrate that our algorithm is very effective method to detect retinal blood vessels.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i4.6253

10.11591/ijict.v3i2.pp80-87
Amir Mirzadeh Phirouzabadi
Nowadays, improving the quality of products, reducing cost and meeting customer’srequirements are necessary to shorten the time of new product development(NPD). NPD is used to describe the complete process of bringing a new product to market and conceptual design process(CDP) is at its early stage and has mostly changed from passive respond toaggressive one. Thus, this study proposed a practical method for CDP in NPDthrough three phases as Converting customers’ requirements to product specifications,Generating and selecting of concepts and Testing and finalizing the concepts byusing some different management-engineering techniques. Firstly, this papertried to prioritize customer’s requirements related to product by AHP (AnalyticHierarchy Process) and convert them to engineering parameters of TRIZ (Theoryof Inventive Problem Solving) in order to define the inventive principals.Next, based on QFD (Quality Function Deployment), we measured the weight valuesof inventive principals. Finally, as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis)can analyze the weight values and reduce the sequential risk, then finalconceptual design was generated. At the end, a medical glasses was used as acase study of innovative design to validate the method and explain how thestrategies of this research for CDP.

Rules Mining Based on Rough Set of Compatible Relation

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i8.pp6346-6353
Weiyan Xu , Ming Zhang , Bo Sun , Mengyun Lin , Rui Cheng
Rough set model based on tolerance relation, has been widely used to deal with incomplete information systems. However, this model is not so perfect because not all of the elements in a tolerant class are mutually tolerant, but they are all tolerant with the generating element of this class. To mend this limitation, the compatible relation is redefined, and then the concept of maximal complete compatible class in incomplete information system is presented for the purpose that any two elements in the same compatible module are mutually compatible. Furthermore, two methods are put forward in the interest of selecting optimal compatible class for an object, which can be used in knowledge reduction. Besides, coverings on universe produced by tolerance and compatible relations are deeply investigated and compared. Finally, a medical decision table is analyzed, some compact rules are mined.

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i8.pp5905-5909
Bei Wei , Xiuhe Wang
The electrical machine using induced excitation system is a kind of brushless self-excited machine with low cost and high reliability, the induced excited machine would provide high power density at high-speed. But the low efficiency of the excitation system limits the development of this kind machine. Based on traditional excitation system, an improved construction induced excitation system is proposed in this paper. Adaptive control method is used to control the current direction in the stator auxiliary winding to replace constant DC excitation, the input current can change its direction according to the position of the rotor, the result is that all of induced currents at work in excitation system. Position sensors are fixed on the rotor and the stator field winding currents can synchronize with the rotor position according to the signal of the sensors. Experiments with the proposed structure are performed and compared with those of the traditional induced excitation system one. The results show that the new structure can improve the excitation system efficiency and reduce the cost.

Xiaoliang Zheng , Yelin Hu , Zhaoquan Chen
In order to address the issue of low degree of automation and huge waste of electric energy of the equipment in drilling engineering freezing station which adopts the freezing method of coal mine, we need to design an intelligent control system to control both the brine pump and double stage ammonia screw compressor. According to the actual cooling need in freezing project, this new system is able to adjust the working condition of the equipment so as to optimize the supply as needed. Also, the temperature and flow of the brine are controlled by fuzzy decoupling controller, and variable frequency controller is adopted in the brine pump to change the motor drive speed and finally adjust the flow of the brine appropriately, besides, the reasonable start-stop unit is used in the compressor to control the temperature of the brine. It has turned out that this intelligent control system features a better control performance, and thus has increased the automation level and prolonged the using life of the whole system as well as saved a large amount of electric energy and decreased the electricity cost of construction enterprises.

Minimum Eigenvalue Detection for Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio

https://ijece.iaescore.com/index.php/IJECE/article/view/5550
Syed Sajjad Ali , Chang Liu , Minglu Jin
Spectrum sensing is a key task for cognitive radio. Our motivation is to increase the probability of detection for spectrum sensing in cognitive radio. In this paper, we proposed a new semi blind method which is based on minimum Eigenvalue of a covariance matrix. The ratio of the minimum eigenvalue to noise power is used as the test statistic. The method does not need channel and signal information as prior knowledge. Eigenvalue based algorithm perform better than energy detection for correlated signal. Our proposed method is better than the maximum eigenvalue and energy detection for correlated signal. We perform Simulation which is based on digital TV signal. In all tests, our method performs better than maximum eigenvalue detection and energy detection.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i4.6226
