M.Ferni Ukrit , B. Venkatesh , Swetabh Suman
In the advancing world of technology, Mobile applications are a rapidly growing segment of the global mobile market. Mobile applications are evolving at a meteor pace to give users a rich and fast user experience. Android operating system supports most applications in today’s technical world. It is an open source operating system which highly satisfies the user’s needs. In this paper, the applications that are location based i.e. the applications that make use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) is discussed. It is a space based satellite navigation system which provides details of time and location in all weather conditions anywhere on or near earth. We introduce PROFILER, a framework for constructing location centric profiles (LCPs), aggregates built over the profiles of users that have visited discrete locations. In addition to a venue centric approach, we propose a decentralized solution for computing real time LCP snapshots over the profiles of collocated users. In our System we find the corresponding location using Global Positioning and Service Provider also. This is to change the profile mode automatically and alarm notification enable automatically when you are going to reach corresponding location or Regular Location.

Sanam Narejo , Eros Pasero , Farzana Kulsoom
A Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) provides an alternative communication interface between the human brain and a computer. The Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are acquired, processed and machine learning algorithms are further applied to extract useful information.  During  EEG acquisition,   artifacts  are induced due to involuntary eye movements or eye blink, casting adverse effects  on system performance. The aim of this research is to predict eye states from EEG signals using Deep learning architectures and present improved classifier models. Recent studies reflect that Deep Neural Networks are trending state of the art Machine learning approaches. Therefore, the current work presents the implementation of  Deep Belief Network (DBN) and Stacked AutoEncoders (SAE) as Classifiers with encouraging performance accuracy.  One of the designed  SAE models outperforms the  performance of DBN and the models presented in existing research by an impressive error rate of 1.1% on the test set bearing accuracy of 98.9%. The findings in this study,  may provide a contribution towards the state of  the  art performance on the problem of  EEG based eye state classification.

This paper presents a Model Predictive Direct Power Control (MPDPC) strategy for a grid-connected inverter used in a photovoltaic system, as found in many distributed generating installations. The controller uses a system model to predict the system behavior at each sampling instant. Using a cost function, the voltage vector with least power ripple is generated. The resultant voltage vector is applied during the next sampling period which gives flexible power regulation. The effectiveness of the proposed MPDPC strategy is verified using MATLAB/ SIMULINK.

This paper presents hardware realization of addition of two digital signals based on Walsh transforms and inverse Walsh transforms targeted to the Xilinx FPGA Spartan 3 board. The realization utilizes Walsh Transform to convert the input data to frequency domain and the inverse Walsh transform to reconvert the data from frequency domain. The designed system is capable of performing addition, subtraction, multiplication and Arbitrary Waveform Generation (AWG). However, in the present work, the hardware realization of addition only has been demonstrated. The Clock frequency for realization into the board is supplied by an external function generator. Output results are captured using a logic analyzer. Input data to the board (system) is passed manually through the available slide switches on-board.

10.11591/ijape.v5.i3.pp120-129
Sai Ram Inkollu , Venkata Reddy Kota
Improvement of power system performance in terms of increased voltage profile and decreased transmission loss is becoming one of the challenging tasks to the system operators under open access environment. Apart from traditional power flow controlling devices, use of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices can give an attractive solution for the operation and control of deregulated power system. The type, size, location and number of FACTS devices are to be optimized appropriately in order to get the targeted benefits. In this paper, two FACTS devices, Thyristor Controller Phase Shift Transformer (TCPST) and Interline Power Flow Controller (IPFC) are selected to obtain the required performance such as improvement of voltage profile and loss minimization. To search the optimal location and optimal rating of the selected FACTS devices, a hybrid algorithm which formulated with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA) is proposed. At the first step, the optimization problem is solved for finding the optimal location of FACTS devices using PSO with an objective of voltage profile maximization and later GSA is implemented to optimize their parameters with an objective of transmission loss minimization. The proposed method is implemented on IEEE 30-bus test system and from the simulation results it can be proved that this technique is well suited for real-time application.

Nowadays, Medium Voltage Drive (MVD) has been widely applied in the field of high-powered motor speed-regulation. These types of converter use a lot of insulated gate bipolar translators (IGBTs). So it is very important to find an effective way to diagnose IGBT open-circuit faults. This study describes a method of diagnosis for IGBT open-circuit faults in MVD whose topology is cell series of multi-level. This method combines wavelet transform (WT) and support vector machine (SVM). The wavelet transform is used to extract fault features and SVM is used to classify the fault states of a single power unit. Then, the trained SVM classifier is used to scan all power units of MVD sequentially. Results of simulation on the platform of MATLAB/Simulink show that this method has a good diagnosis capability. It can diagnose the IGBT open-circuit faults of the whole inverter system, and diagnosis accuracy is up to 96%. So, this method has a good application prospect.

Economic dispatch determines the optimal generation outputs to minimize the toal fuel cost while satisfying the load demand and operational constraints. Modern optimization techniques fail to solve the problem in a robust manner and finding robust global optimization techniques is necessary for efficient system operation. In this study, the potentiality of introducing chaos into the standard Cuckoo Search (CS) in order to further enhance its global search ability is investigated. Deterministic chaotic maps are random-based techniques that can provide a balanced exploration and exploitation searches for the algorithm. Four different variants are generated by carefully choosing four different locations (within the standard CS) with potential adoption of a candidate chaotic map. Then detailed studies are carried out on benchmark power system problems with four different locations to find out the most efficient one. The best of all test cases generated is chosen and compared with algorithms presented in the literature. The results show that the proposed method with the proposed chaotic map outperforms standard CS. Additionally, the chaos-enhanced CS has a very good performance in comparison with QPSO and NSS.

The integrity monitoring system, as an integral part of aviation navigation system for global navigation satellite system (GNSS), should detect and isolated Failures or faults caused by system failures to maintain the integrity of the GNSS. The pseudorange residual noise of navigation satellites does not completely follow the Gaussian distribution, the performance of traditional filtering algorithms (such as the Kalman filtering) may be reduced due to non-Gaussian noise. The particle filter algorithm has great advantage to dealing with the nonlinear and non-Gaussian system. in this paper, the particle filter algorithm is applied to GNSS receiver autonomous integrity monitoring(RAIM) to detect the fault of navigation satellite. Firstly, Log likelihood ratio (LLR) testing is established; and then, the consistency between the state estimation of the main particle filter and the auxiliary particle filter is checked to determine whether the navigation satellite has failed; finally, the novel RAIM algorithm is undertaken by field programmable gate array (FPGA), the modules of the proposed RAIM algorithm is implemented. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated in a problem of GPS (Global Positioning System) autonomous integrity monitoring system, the algorithm and its implementation can be embeded in GNSS receiver.

10.12928/telkomnika.v14i4.3871
Yi; China University of Mining and Technology Liu , Guojun; China University of Mining and Technology Tan , Xiaoqun; China University of Mining and Technology He
The principle of a three phase hybrid clamped three-level inverter was presented. Taking sixty-four switch states into consideration, the operational states of hybrid clamped three-level inverter and different current circuits in different switch states were detailed derived. Optimal modulation algorithm was proposed based on the neutral small vectors by different combination, which can realize the automatic balancing of the neutral-point voltage with few switching cycles and did not need to measure the voltage of the clamped capacitors. The proposed modulation algorithm was also capable of restraining the turn-off over-voltage of the power switching devices effectively. Simulation results were given to verify the feasibility and correctness. Experimental results obtained by DSP-based implementation of the controller on 1 MW prototype show good performance in terms of DC-bus voltages regulation (small neutral point potential function and low DC ripple coefficient) and good sinusoidal current.

Power Synthesis of Mask-Constrained Shaped Beams Through Maximally-Sparse Planar Arrays

10.12928/telkomnika.v14i4.4789
Andrea Francesco; University of Reggio Calabria Morabito
A new approach to the optimal synthesis of planar arrays able to radiate mask-constrained shaped beams by exploiting the minimum number of radiating elements is presented. By taking advantage from both the recent theory of Compressive Sensing and the multiplicity of equivalent solutions available for the generation of an unique shaped-beam power pattern, the synthesis results extremely fast and effective. In particular, the overall design is reduced to a Convex Programming optimization, with the inherent advantages in terms of solutions’ optimality and computational burden.

Asyrofa Rahmi , Vivi Nur Wijayaningrum , Wayan Firdaus Mahmudy , Andi Maulidinnawati A. K. Parewe
The signature recognition is a difficult process as it requires several phases. A failure in a phase will significantly reduce the recognition accuracy. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) believed to be used to assist in the recognition or classification of the signature. In this study, the ANN algorithm used is Back Propagation. A mechanism to adaptively adjust the learning rate is developed to improve the system accuracy. The purpose of this study is to conduct the recognition of a number of signatures so that can be known whether the recognition which is done by using the Back Propagation is appropriate or not. The testing results performed by using learning rate of 0.64, the number of iterations is 100, and produces an accuracy value of 63%.
