Underwater Target Tracking Using Unscented Kalman Filter

10.11591/ijape.v4.i2.pp77-83
M. Nalini Santhosh , S. Koteswara Rao , R.P. Das
Unlike conventional active sonar, that transmits the sound signals and revealing their presence and position to enemy forces. The probable advantage of passive sonar is that it detects the signals emitted by the target, leads to improve localization, target tracking, and categorization. The challenging aspect is to estimate the true bearing and frequency measurements from the noisy measurements of the target. Here in this paper, it is recommended for the Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) to track the target by using these noisy measurements. The Target Motion Analysis (TMA), which is the way to find the target’s trajectory by using frequency and bearing measurements, is explored. This method provides a tactical advantage over the classical bearing only tracking target motion analysis. It makes the observer maneuver unnecessary.

Effects of the Droop Speed Governor and Automatic Generation Control AGC on Generator Load Sharing of Power System

10.11591/ijape.v4.i2.pp84-95
Youssef Mobarak
In power system, as any inequality between production and consumption results in an instantaneous change in frequency from nominal, frequency should be always monitored and controlled. Traditionally, frequency regulation is provided by varying the power output of generators which have restricted ramp rates. The Automatic Generation Control AGC process performs the task of adjusting system generation to meet the load demand and of regulating the large system frequency changes. A result of the mismatches between system load and system generation, system frequency and the desired value of 50 Hz is the accumulation of time error. How equilibrium system frequency is calculated if load parameters are frequency dependent, and how can frequency be controlled. Also, how do parameters of a speed governor affect generated power. The transient processes before system frequency settles down to steady state. Finally, AGC in what way is it different from governor action. This paper presents new approaches for AGC of power system including two areas having one steam turbines and one hydro turbine tied together through power lines.

Z. Kourdi , B. Bouazza , A. Guen-Bouazza , M. Khaouani
We present a simulation of a HEMT (high electron mobility transistor) structure. We extract the device characteristics through the analysis of DC, AC and high frequency regimes, as shown in this paper. This work demonstrates the optimal device with a gate length of 30 nm, and InAlN/GaN heterostructure for minimizing side effects. The simulated with Silvaco software of the HEMT devices with the materials InAlN show very good scalability in different application. We have demonstrated an excellent current density, as high as 644 mA/mm, a peak extrinsic transconductance of 710 mS/mm at VDS=2 V, and cutting frequency cutoffs of 385 GHZ, maximum frequency of 810 GHz, maximum efficiency of 23% for x-Band, maximum breakdown voltage of 365 V, and an ON/OFF current density ratio higher than 8 x 108. These values were determined through the simulation by hydrodynamics models, which makes that optimize the design is the future of this technology.

10.11591/ijeecs.v15.i2.pp373-380
Erick Alfons Lisangan , Aina Musdholifah , Sri Hartati
Recently, clustering algorithms combined conventional methods and artificial intelligence. FSC-SOM is designed to handle the problem of SOM, such as defining the number of clusters and initial value of neuron weights. FSC find the number of clusters and the cluster centers which become the parameter of SOM. FSC-SOM is expected to improve the quality of FSC since the determination of the cluster centers are processed twice i.e. searching for data with high density at FSC then updating the cluster centers at SOM. FSC-SOM was tested using 10 datasets that is measured with F-Measure, entropy, Silhouette Index, and Dunn Index. The result showed that FSC-SOM can improve the cluster center of FSC with SOM in order to obtain the better quality of clustering results. The clustering result of FSC-SOM is better than or equal to the clustering result of FSC that proven by the value of external and internal validity measurement.

10.11591/ijeecs.v15.i2.pp321-330
Chen Yong , Shuai Feng , Zhan Di
In low light environment, the surveillance video image has lower contrast, less information and uneven brightness. To solve this problem, this paper puts forward a contrast resolution compensation algorithm based on human visual perception model. It extracts Y component from the YUV video image acquired by camera originally to subtract contrast feature parameters, then makes a proportional integral type contrast resolution compensation for low light pixels in Y component and makes index contrast resolution compensation for high light pixels adaptively to enhance brightness of the video image while maintains the U and V components. Then it compresses the video images and transmits them via internet. Finally, it decodes and displays the video image on the device of intelligent surveillance system. The experimental results show that, the algorithm can effectively improve the contrast resolution of the video image and maintain the color of video image well. It also can meet the real-time requirement of video monitoring.

Flight-Path Tracking Control of an Aircraft Using Backstepping Controller

10.11591/ijeecs.v15.i2.pp270-276
Labane Chrif , Zemalache Meguenni Kada , Tahar Mohamed
For transportation aircraft, the primary control objective for an autopilot system engaged during approach and landing is relative to the flight path tracking on the basis of highly simplified linear models of flight dynamics. The dynamics governing the flight path of an aircraft are in general highly nonlinear and involve complex physics for which no accurate models are available. In this paper a nonlinear model describing the longitudinal equations of motion in strick feedback form is derived. Backstepping is utilized for the construction of a globally stabilizing controller with a number of free parameters. It is implemented a controller with an internal loop controls involving the pitch rate of the aircraft and an external loop which includes angle of attack, path angle and pitch angle. Finally, nonlinear simulation results for a longitudinal model of a transportation aircraft are displayed and discussed.
