10.11591/ijai.v4.i1.pp20-28
T PAVAN KUMAR , B N KARTHEEK
Recently, Development and the utilization of single phase based multilevel inverters has been increased. This paper proposes concept based new topology based seven level inverter with less number of power electronics switches with utility grid connection. This proposed multilevel inverter operates with only eight power electronics switches at their fundamental frequency. This inverter produces seven level output from the input here we considered as a photovoltaic system. The cost, complexity, switching losses are small due to because of usage of less number of switches. The DC/DC converter receives input from which the three positive output voltages are generated and the multilevel inverter performs as a polarity reversal that provides both the positive and negative cycle output. For further enhancement in the output waveform, the filter circuit can be integrated in the output terminal of the multilevel inverter. This paper also proposed a concept of a neuro-fuzzy controller for controlling the seven level inverter. The simulation results are observed by means of MATLAB simulink toolbox.

T. Sengolrajan , B. Shanthi , M. Arumugam
This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of various bipolar Multicarrier Pulse Width Modulation (MCPWM) strategies with Sinusoidal reference for three phase Nine level Trinary Source cascaded  inverter.  A new approach of nine levels is for medium voltage applications. The proposed topology uses reduced number of switching devices and thus reducing losses and low THD in comparison with the conventional topology. The configuration of the circuit is simple and easy to control. Performance factors such as %THD, VRMS where measured and Crest Factor (CF), Distortion Factor (DF), Form Factor (FF) of output voltage were calculated for different modulation indices and the results were compared. VFPWM strategies provides minimum THD and COPWM strategy provides higher fundamental VRMS output voltage. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v13i3.7181

Lightning activity correlates with the formation of thunderclouds which increase the atmospheric electric field (AEF) between the cloud and the earth. Observations of the development of the AEF will allow the prediction of lightning activities close to a particular location. In research and development, the data logger plays an important role to observe and collect data from AEF sensors. The data logger must be reliable and effective. High investment costs are involved in acquiring a data logger, and choosing a suitable data logger is not easy. Institut Voltan dan Arus Tinggi (IVAT) is develeloping AEF sensor. Along with that sensor development a data logger development is also required. In this paper, a mobile data logger is developed by using Arduino-Uno. This mobile data logger is equipped with a GPS module, which provides accurate positioning in the collection of data. Laboratory and field tests were carried out to observe the performance of the mobile data logger system. The results showed that the developed data logger works properly.

Design and Development of an Agorithm for Prioritizing the Test Cases Using Neural Network as Classifier

10.11591/ijai.v4.i1.pp14-19
Amit Verma , simranjeet kaur
Test Case Prioritization (TCP) has gained wide spread acceptance as it often results in good quality software free from defects. Due to the increase in rate of faults in software traditional techniques for prioritization results in increased cost and time. Main challenge in TCP is difficulty in manually validate the priorities of different test cases due to large size of test suites and no more emphasis are made to make the TCP process automate. The objective of this paper is to detect the priorities of different test cases using an artificial neural network which helps to predict the correct priorities with the help of back propagation algorithm. In our proposed work one such method is implemented in which priorities are assigned to different test cases based on their frequency. After assigning the priorities ANN predicts whether correct priority is assigned to every test case or not otherwise it generates the interrupt when wrong priority is assigned. In order to classify the different priority test cases classifiers are used. Proposed algorithm is very effective as it reduces the complexity with robust efficiency and makes the process automated to prioritize the test cases.

In this paper we analyze the internet pricing schemes based on bandwidth function diminished with increasing bandwidth utility function with 3 pricing strategies for homogeneous and heterogeneous consumer. The new proposed pricing schemes with this utility function will give the information to the internet service providers (ISP) in maximizing profits and provide better service quality for users. The Models on every type of consumer are applied to the data traffic in Palembang local server. LINGO 11.0 is used to compute the nonlinear programming problem to get the optimal solution. The results showed that for each case based on 3-pricing scheme, ISPs get better profit by choosing all three schemes in consumers type of homogenous case while for heterogeneous cases on willingness to pay and based on demand of the consumers, ISPs can select flat fee scheme to gain higher profit rather than those two other schemes.

Local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) system provides high bitrates services up to 40 Mbps operating in millimeter bands. The radio system can be employed to serve heterogenous traffics in any applications such as video surveillance, public internet hotspots and other services. However, the implementation in tropical area faces transmission problems which degrade signal reception, such as heavy rain. This paper examines the performance of heterogenous traffics in LMDS in a rainy environment. Some techniques to tackle rain ploblems were implemented and the effects were assesed. It was proven that PHY and MAC layers contribute to performances enhancement on rainy environment as long as the system uses the suitable scheduler. A packet-based scheduler was proposed by considering packet impact on quality. The results showed that the proposed technique is able to improve video performance about 0.02% over the maximum signal to noise (mSNR) scheduler, maintain voice decoding rate as well as the priority fair (PF) scheduler and increase data decodibility 0.2%.

Nonlinear-Filtering with Interacting Multiple-Model Algorithm for Coastal Radar Target Tracking System

10.12928/telkomnika.v13i1.791
Rika; Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Sustika , Joko; Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Suryana
This paper presents a performance evaluation of nonlinear filtering with Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) algorithm for implementation on Indonesian coastal radar target tracking system. On this radar, target motion is modeled using Cartesian coordinate but target position measurements are provided in polar coordinate (range and azimuth). For this implementation, we investigated two types of nonlinear filtering, Converted Measurement Kalman Filter (CMKF) and Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). IMM algorithm is used to anticipate target motion uncertainty. Many simulations on radar target tracking are developed under assumption that noise characteristic is known. In this paper, the performance of IMM-CMKF and IMM-UKF is evaluated for condition that radar doesn’t know noise characteristic and there is mismatch on noise modeling. Results from simulation show that IMM-CMKF has better performance than IMM-UKF when tracking maneuvering trajectory. Results also show that IMM-CMKF is more robust than IMM-UKF when there is mismatch on noise modeling.

Recently, Wireless Body Sensor Network (WBSN) has been emerged as a promising technology to provide medical and healthcare monitoring. It can significantly reduce the health-care cost by providing continuous health monitoring facility to the elderly people suffering from chronic diseases. The life critical and real time medical application of WBSNs requires the assurance of the demanded Quality of Service (QoS) both in terms delay and reliability. This paper proposes Critical Data Routing (CDR) that categorizes the sensory data packets as critical and non-critical data packets. Along with the heterogeneous natured data, it also addresses the high and dynamic path loss and the temperature rise issues caused by postural movement of the human body and electromagnetic waves absorption respectively. The simulation results show that the proposed CDR scheme achieves its designed objective of forwarding the critical data packets within certain time limits and with highest reliability while reducing the temperature rise of the in-body sensor nodes.

10.12928/telkomnika.v13i1.1320
Liu; Beijing Institute of Technology Yang , Chunguang; Beijing Institute of Technology Xu , Xianghui; Beijing Institute of Technology Guo , Liping; Flinders University Wang
This paper presents a development and research of a non-invasive ultrasonic tomography for imaging gas/liquid two-phase flow. Ultrasonic transmitting and receiving are implemented using a circular array model that consists of 36 transducers. COMSOL Multiphysics® software is adopted for the simulation of the ultrasonic propagation in the detecting zone. Various two-phase flows with different gas distributions are radiated by ultrasonic waves and the reflection mode approach is utilized for detecting the scattering waves after the generation of fan-shaped beam. Ultrasonic attenuation and sound speed are both taken into consideration while reconstructing the two-phase flow images under the inhomogeneous medium conditions. The inversion procedure of the image reconstruction is realized using the hyperbola algorithm, which in return demonstrates the feasibility and validity of the proposed circular array model.

This paper presents an overview of customizable microcontroller using a Xilinx Zynq XC7Z020 FPGA as an alternative to increase its performance as user need. This alternative arises due to many of the systems, which developed mostly by using microcontroller are not giving any room for customization to increase its performance or I/O ports. There is any possibility that the system designed to be used by using general processor such as PC to increase its performance but it will give another problem such as interface difficulty for high speed I/O, real time processing, increases complexity, and many more. Customization is introduced by combining hard IP processor and FPGA in one chip instead of practicing two separate devices, processor and FPGA, which is commonly use in high performance embedded design. This approach allows seamless design development and development time reduction for customization.
