Ontology Based RT-Delphi with Explanation Capabilities

Real-Time (RT) Delphi approach is widely used method for knowledge acquisition process. The current RT-Delphi approach ignores considering the unifying domain concepts and their attributes. This limitation can provide the contradiction of the domain experts' judgments and increasing misunderstandings when talking about specific topics. In addition, the current RT-Delphi ignores the explanation capabilities for consensus results, which it is vital for policy/decision makers to be more confidence. The core of this research is to develop ontology-based RT-Delphi with explanation capabilities. We applied the developed approach in to two crucial important case studies in Egypt, which are food security and water security.

Parameter Analysis of Fluid-Solid Coupling for Wet Brake Disc

Due to the poor conditions of wet brake cooling and the high temperature of the working characteristics, this paper intended to introduce the oil film vadose between the brake linings, considered the variation of volume of grooves on the friction plate, and then proposes the three-dimensional transient dynamic response of fluid-solid coupling mathematical model. By parameter analysis of the disc transient thermal stress field distribution on the friction plate, and according to the real dimension of the brake disc, the distribution of the temperature and the stress of the wet brake disc during the braking are analyzed, the variation of temperature field and stress field in friction plate are obtained. The data curves shown the temperature and the stress are coupled. Finally, the results shows that the mathematical model is effective and feasible.

Phase Open Fault Tolerant Control of High Reliability Doubly-Salient Wound-Field Machine

Doubly Salient Wound-Field Machine (DSWFM) can be employed on aeronautics starter-generator because it has good performance on both power generation and starting. To improve the system reliability, a three-phase four bridge legs converter which has fault tolerant capability is proposed to solve one phase open-circuit fault problem of the DSWFM. And the advantage of the proposed converter to the full-bridge converter fault-tolerant mode is analyzed. With the study of DSWFM theory and torque equation, a constant torque fault-tolerant strategy is proposed to keep the performance and reduce the torque ripple. The drive system after fault identification can be reconstructed by the proposed method, and the machine performance can recover quickly. Simulations confirm the feasibility of the proposed fault tolerant system.

Visual Surveillance for Hajj and Umrah: A Review

This paper presents advances on crowd management research with specific interest on high density crowds such as Hajj and Umrah crowds. In the past few years, there has been increasing interest in pursuing video analytics and visual surveillance to improve the security and safety of pilgrimages during their stay in Mecca. Despite the fact that visual surveillance research has matured significantly in the rest of the world and had been implemented in many scenarios, research on visual surveillance for Hajj and Umrah application still remains at its early stages and there are many issues that need to be addressed in future research. This is mainly because Hajj is a very unique event that shows the clustering of millions of people in small area where most advanced image processing and computer vision algorithms fail to generate accurate analysis of the image content. There is a strong need to develop new algorithms specifically tailored for Hajj and Umrah applications. This review aims to give attentions to these interesting future research areas based on analysis of current visual surveillance research. The review also pinpoint to pioneer techniques on visual surveillance in general that can be customized to Hajj and Umrah applications.

Adaptive Fuzzy Sliding Mode Control for Hydraulic Servo System of Parallel Robot

The hydraulic servo control system, which is the important component of parallel robot, is a high order, nonlinear, dynamic asymmetry, parameter uncertain system, which seriously affect dynamic performance of robot, so it is very difficult to gain good performance with traditional control. Based on sliding mode variable structure control method combined with fuzzy control and adaptive control, an adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control algorithm was presented by taking the Stewart platform servo control system of parallel robot as the research object, and the uncertain term of the sliding mode controller was approximated with adaptive fuzzy control method. The simulation results showed that compared with the conventional PID control applied to the same hydraulic control system, the new controller has a strong robustness, good traceability with regard to model uncertainties, unknown external disturbances and changes in the operation conditions, as well as much better adaptive characteristics. The simulation results also showed that the adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control system can solve the dynamic asymmetrical performance and poor stability of parallel robot, and can greatly improve the robot control precision. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i6.5087

Design and Implementation of Universal Serial Bus Transceiver with Verilog

In this paper, a simplified Universal Serial Bus (USB) transceiver is designed, which is special used for mobile terminals such as smart mobile phone, IPad, smart sensor, and so on. The transceiver includes functions such as data serialization, bit stuffing, NRZI encoding and NRZI decoding, bit unstuffing, deserialization. The transceiver is designed and implemented with Verilog HDL in Modelsim. And the transceiver has been verified with FPGA and synthesized using 0.18um 1P6M CMOS process technology. Nearest Neighbor-Based Indonesian G2P Conversion

Grapheme-to-phoneme conversion (G2P), also known as letter-to-sound conversion, is an important module in both speech synthesis and speech recognition. The methods of G2P give varying accuracies for different languages although they are designed to be language independent. This paper discusses a new model based on pseudo nearest neighbor rule (PNNR) for Indonesian G2P. In this model, partial orthogonal binary code for graphemes, contextual weighting, and neighborhood weighting are introduced. Testing to 9,604 unseen words shows that the model parameters are easy to be tuned to reach high accuracy. Testing to 123 sentences containing homographs shows that the model could disambiguate homographs if it uses long graphemic context. Compare to information gain tree, PNNR gives slightly higher phoneme error rate, but it could disambiguate homographs.

Modeling and Simulation of DIGSILENT-based Micro-grid system

The accurate modeling of micro-grid access to power system planning and design stage needs is the primary problem to solve. This paper modeled the micro grid photovoltaic power generation system ,including silicon solar cell, photovoltaic inverters, battery energy storage system, and the micro power distribution system .The use of power system analysis software (DIGSILENT) of actual power system simulation, the simulation results verify the model's correctness. In the power grid fault disturbance, the light intensity of disturbance and the load disturbances, the simulation results show that the optical storage combined with micro network has fast dynamic response characteristics, and its network of grid-connected voltage influenced by the changes of the light and load is little, while more affected by the network fault influence. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i6.5471

Traveling-Wave-Based Fault Location in Electrical Distribution Systems With Digital Simulations

Traveling-wave-based fault location in electrical distribution systems is an important safeguard for the distribution network reliability. The effectiveness of the methods is verified directly in power grid in the early stages, while different fault types can't appear in a short time. And normal dynamic physical simulation cannot meet the teaching demand either because of the limitation of transmission line model and other factors. So PSCAD/EMTDC and MATLAB are used to illustrate the the fault location methods in this paper, which can promote the traveling-wave-based fault-location technology. Meanwhile, the traveling-wave-based fault-location method based on characteristic frequencies is analyzed in this paper.

Research on Backlash Nonlinearity in AC Servo-driven Precision Transmission System

AC servo-driven precision transmission system is mainly composed of AC servo motor, mechanical transmission parts and control parts. Because of mutual coupling between various parts, particularly transmission system in mechanical coupling vibration in non-smooth transition, it will be of great harm to safe operation of the system. This paper made some overview and built the model of AC servo-driven precision transmission system mainly from the perspective of backlash nonlinear characteristic and with simulation tool of Matlab/Simulink to analyze the influence of backlash on the precision of servo system, and then corresponding simulation curve and conclusions were shown in this paper. Passenger Flow Forecasting using Support Vector Regression for Rail Transit

Support vector regression is a promising method for the forecast of passenger flow because it uses a risk function consisting of the empirical error and a regularized term which is based on the structural risk minimization principle. In this paper, the prediction model of urban rail transit passenger flow is constructed. It is to build an urban rail transit passenger flow forecast model and select the optimal parameters from the support vector regression through the variable metric method to obtain the minimal value from the LOO error bounds. The passenger flow is forecast by means of both support vector regression method and BP neural network method, and the results show that the support vector regression model has such theoretical superiority as minimized structural risk, thus having a higher forecasting accuracy under small sample conditions for short-term rail transit passenger flow, which predicts the promising forecasting performance that the method has.

Design of an Optical Emitting System for Scannerless Imaging LIDAR Based on ZEMAX

Optical emitting system is an essential part of scannerless imaging LIDAR. It plays an important role in decreasing the divergence angle and homogenizing the beam spot which have an immense influence on the light signal back from the target. This research work proposes the design of the system using ZEMAX model also determine the includes shaping and zooming features of design model. In the shaping system feature we used two cylindrical lenses whose accurate positions have been solved by using the theories of matrix optics and Gauss optics. The cam curve of a three-group zoom system with (2x-7x) zoom ratios has been drawn. The simulation results verify the availability that the beam from the laser diode meets the requirements after optical emission from system.

Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS Process-Based a Robust and High-Accuracy Low Drop-Out Regulator

A 40V BCD process high-accuracy and robust Low Drop-Out Regulator was proposed and tape-out in CSMC; the LDO was integrated in a LED Control and Driver SOC of outdoor applications. The proposed LDO converted the 12V~40V input power to 5V for the low voltage circuits inside the SOC. The robustness of LDO was important because the application condition of the SOC was bad. It was simulated in all process corner, -55℃~150℃ temperature and 12V~40V power voltage conditions. Simulation result shows that the LDO works robustly in conditions mentioned above. The default precision of LDO output voltage is ±2.75% max in all conditions, moreover, by utilizing a trim circuit in the feedback network, the precision can be improved to ±0.5% max after being trimmed by 3 bit digital trim signal Trim[3:1]. The total size of the proposed LDO is 135um*450um and the maximum current consumption is 284uA.
