Mobile adhoc networks (MANETs) are self-configuring networks with a dynamic infrastructure suit for real world applications. Due to the exponential increase in the network devices an efficient routing algorithm for dynamic network adhering the security issues is a critical challenge needs to be addressed. This article attempts to address this issue with the implemention of ad-hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing approach, which is the best of its kind in the dynamic network design of MANETs. The primary goal is to address security attack weaknesses through the implementation of dynamic topologies and reactive routing. To this end, a bio-inspired swarm intelligence algorithm called Bees algorithm is used to emulate the AODV technique. In order to provide a lightweight solution that integrates the Bee algorithm and AODV routing, this study presents a unique algorithm called Bee-AODC. The proposed Bee-AODC algorithm possess the both the AODV's dynamic topology construction capabilities and the Bee algorithm's foraging strategy which effectively address security weaknesses by creating a dynamic network topology for ad hoc routing. By using the suggested Bee-AODC algorithm instead of the traditional AODV routing method, throughput is increased by 12.87% while packet loss, latency, and energy consumption are reduced by 20%, 40%, and 18%, respectively.

10.11591/ijere.v14i1.29941
Imdad Ali , Samiran Das
Algebra is the major branch of mathematics that deals with numbers, and symbols are mostly used in problem-solving. Students often struggle to learn mathematics due to the difficulties of solving algebraic problems at the secondary level. Several factors affect student problem-solving achievement (PSA). The present study aims to examine the mediating effect of study habits (SH) in the relationship between parental involvement (PI) and algebraic PSA. For this purpose, a study habits scale and a parental involvement scale are used, and a problem-solving test is done for algebraic problem-solving. In this correlational study, Baron and Kenny’s series of regression models is used to test the mediating effect of SH. The findings revealed that that PI, SH and algebraic PSA are positively correlated. Also, it is confirmed that SH mediates the relationship between PI and algebraic PSA because there is no longer any significant effect of PI on PSA after SH is included in the model. It is recommended that students’ problem-solving skills be developed through their better study habits. Increasing parental support may promote students better SH, which in turn better achievement in problem-solving. Parents and teachers should monitor and encourage students’ study habits for better performance in problem-solving and mathematics as a whole.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder caused by various genetic, physiological and behavioral factors. It occurs due to an imbalance in the body’s insulin processing, which results in elevated blood sugar levels. Its early diagnosis can alleviate the risk of other deadly diseases. The onset and accurate detection of diabetes can decrease the progression of different complications and dysfunction of tissues. The principal objective of this article is to utilize machine learning approaches to predict the existence of diabetes in female patients at a primary stage. Multiple machine learning, including ensemble classifiers with the Pima Indian dataset and a private dataset obtained from a local Bangladeshi hospital, are used in this work. We employed feature scaling, synthetic oversampling technique (SMOTE), and hyperparameter optimization with GridSearchCV to get the best performance from different machine learning algorithms. The support vector machine (SVM) with the SMOTE framework and default hyperparameters achieved the accuracy and F1 score of 87% and 91%, respectively. The accuracy and F1 score of the SVM model improved to 95% and 91%, respectively, with hyperparameter optimization. Finally, explainable artificial intelligence with the local interpretable model-agnostic explanations (LIME) is employed to illustrate the predictability of the SVM technique.

This study aimed to automatically classify rice seedling germination on day seven using image analysis. The categories included normal, abnormal, and dead seeds. Due to the rarity of abnormal seedlings, capturing their images resulted in imbalanced data. To address this, abnormal categories were combined into a single class. We compared logistic regression, random forest, and deep learning models (VGG19, VGG16, Alex Net) for classification. Surprisingly, logistic regression achieved the highest accuracy (93.89%) and F1-scores (0.96 normal, 0.81 abnormal) despite the imbalanced data and complex task. The effectiveness of logistic regression for rice seedling classification with imbalanced data has been demonstrated in this novel research. Historically, deep learning models dominate image recognition, but our findings suggest simpler models can excel in specific scenarios, especially with limited data availability. This highlights the importance of selecting models based on data characteristics. The urgency for this research stems from the need for efficient and accurate rice seedling evaluation. Improved classification can enhance agricultural practices and optimize resource allocation.

Seeing the many cases of adolescent violence that occurred in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, this study was interested in examining the suitability of authoritative parenting and self-regulation abilities to the level of adolescent aggressiveness. The subjects of this study were 154 class XII students of State Senior High School 1 Sleman. The sample selection was obtained using a stratified random sampling technique. The aim is to obtain student representation from each class. Researchers use the scale as the main tool in obtaining research data on aggressiveness, authoritative parenting and self-regulation. The data was then analyzed using multiple linear regression with the SPSS V26 program. The results of the analysis showed that, simultaneously, authoritative parenting and self-regulation were very significant in suppressing the emergence of aggressiveness in adolescents (F=51.76 and Sig.=.000). Then, both authoritative parenting (Beta=-.37 with Sig.=.000) and self-regulation (Beta=-.35 with Sig.=.000) both were able to have a significant effect on adolescent aggressiveness partially. The conclusion is that adolescents need authoritative parenting at this phase; this is necessary to avoid the emergence or development of aggressiveness in adolescents. Besides that, adolescents must also be equipped with self-regulation skills because most activities are carried out without parental supervision.

Career identity is one of the most important psychosocial developmental tasks for adolescents. The development of career identity in adolescence will prevent humans from experiencing identity confusion which will have an impact on further developmental tasks. This research answers the need for this measurement tool by developing and validating a career identity measurement tool called the Indonesian youth career identity scale (IYCIS). This instrument consists of 55 items in two aspects: career exploration and commitment. This study uses Rasch analysis to test the validity of the IYCIS construct. The construct validity test involved 200 high school students in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data analysis using Winstep software provides information about the quality of respondents and instruments, items that are easy and difficult for respondents to agree on, items that are made to order, and unidimensional. The results of applying the Rasch analysis show that IYCIS is good, precise, and has an item fit with the model. IYCIS is a reliable and valid measurement tool for accurately measuring the level of student career identity. This study discusses the implications and recommendations for further research on the implementation of guidance and counseling that contains career identity as a follow-up to IYCIS performance.

Multivariate analysis: geography, demographics, and Texas’ post-COVID education

10.11591/ijere.v14i1.30002
Shifang Tang , Zhuoying Wang , Lei Zhang , David D. Jimenez
This study examines the impact of geographic locale on educational outcomes in Texas, focusing on the post-COVID-19 educational landscape. The study evaluates the impact of geographical location on the educational outcomes of eighth-grade students by analyzing STAAR test scores as indicators of academic achievement while adjusting for previous academic results and demographic factors. A sample of 1,145 public school districts across Texas was analyzed, encompassing city, suburban, town, and rural settings. The findings indicate that while geographic locale has a discernible impact on academic achievement, this effect is moderate and intertwined with demographic factors. The research found that rural students unexpectedly outperformed their urban counterpart’s post-pandemic, controlling for their pre-pandemic performance. However, the persistent lower performance in urban districts emphasizes the need to reevaluate educational dynamics. The integration of demographic variables reveals that while they mitigate the influence of geography, they emerge as strong influencers of academic performance on their own. This underscores the need for policies that address the complex interplay between geographic, demographic, and socio-economic factors to narrow educational disparities. The study suggests that targeted interventions are necessary to address the specific needs of different locales, considering the nuanced effects of the pandemic on educational equity.
