Pronunciation therapy for deaf students is a very important context within the sphere of the Quran learning. Previous investigations in this domain predominantly focused on media and visual approaches, neglecting the discussion of Arabic letter pronunciation therapy (phonetically). Therefore, this research aimed to elucidate various forms of pronunciation therapy designed for deaf students and the underlying factors motivating the use of the therapeutic techniques. This descriptive qualitative research relied on the primary data collected through an investigation conducted at Qotrunnada Islamic Special School (SLB) in Bantul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The primary data comprised the diverse methods applied in Arabic letter pronunciation therapy and the determinant factors of articulation disorders. The research subjects were limited to pure deaf students, categorized by age and the length of therapy. Each student exhibited different results of assessment and response to pronunciation therapy. Moreover, data validation was performed through interaction with the school principal as the research team. The results showed that the forms of pronunciation therapy included articulation therapy (phonetically) exercises addressing sound production, as well as interventions targeting attention and behavior for deaf students in coping with Arabic letter difficulties. This contribution would serve as a basic guide in the development of instruments for Arabic letter pronunciation therapy designed for students with special needs.

The use of augmented reality in assessing and training children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

10.11591/ijai.v13.i4.pp4045-4053
Jesla Joseph , Vinay M.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a serious issue that must be addressed in the modern world. Treatment for ADHD is challenging because it is costly, has adverse effects, might not be successful, and is not considered an emergency. The reason that ADHD is hard to manage is because it causes people-especially children-to make impulsive decisions that hinder their ability to succeed in school, the workplace, and other areas of life. As an alternative approach, neurofeedback therapy or play therapy, which relies on real-time feedback of an individual's brainwave activity typically collected through electroencephalogram (EEG), has demonstrated promising outcomes in the treatment of mental disorders and enhancing cognitive capabilities. On the other hand, prolonged exposure to repetitive feedback might result in lower engagement since people may become disinterested in the process and find it difficult to continue participating. An extensive assessment on the use of augmented reality (AR) in the context of pediatric ADHD has been carried out, with an emphasis on the benefits of creating games specifically for kids with ADHD. By using AR technology in a group of children, the goal of this study was to investigate the basic characteristics of AR systems that aid in the identification and treatment of ADHD in children.

Low physical activity increases the number of non-communicable diseases. This phenomenon occurs in medical students. This study aimed to determine the correlation between sedentary behavior and physical activity on cognition, mental health, cortisol, and brain derived neurotropic factor (BDNF). Using a cross-sectional design of observational study, eighty-six medical students were involved in this study. The subjects were interviewed to assess cognitive function and depression levels. Saliva was taken to measure cortisol and BDNF level. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Spearman test. Depression is the only variable that correlates significantly with habitual physical activity (p=0.025, r=-0.214). Sedentary behavior has a weak correlation with cognitive failure, anxiety, and depression ([p=0.046, r=0.216]; [p=0.039, r=0.223]; [p=0.011, r=0.273]). The results found that high physical activity improves mental health and cognition. This study suggested that physical activity can alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety among medical students.

Predictive maintenance contributes to Industry 4.0, as it enables a decrease in maintenance costs and downtime while aiming to increase production and return on investment. Despite the increasing utilization of machine learning techniques in predictive maintenance in industrial systems over the past few years, several challenges remain to be addressed in the implementation of ML, including the quality of the data collected, resource constraints, and equipment heterogeneity. This study proposes an adaptive framework for predictive maintenance in the context of Industry 4.0, specifically in internet of things (IoT) systems, using machine learning (ML) models. In particular, this study introduces PdM-FSA, a new framework based on an ensemble classifier that takes advantage of four widely adopted ML models in the predictive maintenance literature: random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and k-nearest neighbors (KNN). The performance evaluation results showed that the PdM-FSA framework can perform well for predictive maintenance according to the severity of equipment malfunctions in a smart factory. The results of this study provide significant knowledge to researchers and practitioners on predictive maintenance in the context of Industry 4.0. and enables the optimization of processes and improves productivity.

10.11591/ijere.v13i6.29856
Allan Jay Esteban , Ken Calang , Princes Mara E. Pagador
Reading literacy has been a challenge in the Philippines based on recent large-scale literacy assessment in two consecutive years. This may be a result of a mismatch between reading instruction and the interest and motivation of students as 21st century learners in improving their reading skills. However, it is early to instigate such assumption. Hence, this systematic review examines eight articles related to reading instruction research in the Philippines and seven articles on digital technology integration for reading instruction. The paper finds no research on digital technology integration for reading instruction in the Philippine context, while studies conducted in other countries show the efficiency of digital technology interventions in reading literacy development. The findings emphasize the necessity for digital technology research in the reading instruction in the country. This report recommends empirical studies, curriculum adjustments, teacher training, and community engagements on technology-enabled reading education. Based on the findings of this study and a review of related literature, the PREACT framework (Policy, Research, Empirical study, Curriculum and resource adaptation, Community engagement and access, Teacher training and development) is proposed as a potential approach to transform reading instruction in the Philippines.

Challenges in achieving exclusive breastfeeding often emerge during the initial days when complete establishment of breast milk production may not occur. In this vulnerable period, infants might receive supplementary foods or drinks, creating barriers to exclusive breastfeeding. This study seeks to integrate oketani and oxytocin massage with a suggestive approach to evaluate their impact on breast milk production among mothers. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post-test control group, the research focuses on postpartum mothers at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital, with a sample size of 60 respondents chosen through purposive sampling. Demographic data and observation sheets were utilized to document breast milk production before and after the intervention. Data analysis involved Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon tests. The study revealed a significant difference between pre- and post-intervention phases within the intervention group (p-value <0.005), indicating noteworthy changes following the implementation of oketani and oxytocin massages. The interventions demonstrated potential in enhancing breast softness, nipple and areola elasticity, and overall milk production, offering valuable insights into non-pharmacological approaches for supporting breastfeeding.

Finding sarcastic statements has recently drawn a lot of curiosity in social media, mainly because sarcastic tweets may include favorable phrases that fill in unattractive or undesirable attributes. As the internet becomes increasingly ingrained in our daily lives, many multimedia information is being produced online. Much of the information recorded mostly on the internet is textual data. It is crucial to comprehend people's sentiments. However, sarcastic content will hinder the effectiveness of sentiment analysis systems. Correctly identifying sarcasm and correctly predicting people's motives are extremely important. Sarcasm is particularly hard to recognize, both by humans and by machines. We employ the deep bi-directional long-short memory (Bi-LSTM) and a hybrid architecture of the convolution neural network+Bi-LSTM (CNN+Bi-LSTM) with attention networks for identifying sarcastic remarks in a corpus. Using the SarcasmV2 dataset, we test the efficacy of deep learning methods BiLSTM, and CNN+BiLSTM with attention network) for the task of identifying text sarcasm. The suggested approach incorporating deep networks is consistent with various recent and advanced techniques for sarcasm detection. With attention processes, the improved CNN+Bi-LSTM model achieved an accuracy rate of 91.76%, which is a notable increase over earlier research.

The booming of technology has significantly increased the amount of news articles for readers. The headline of news plays an essential role in attracting readers. Traditionally, crafting the news headline is a manual task at the news desk. The motivation of this paper is to address the issues faced in low resource languages, such as the Malay language. The main contribution of this paper is a new hybrid model based on extractive- and abstractive-based text summarization with the integration of a geographical linguistics model; a Malay phoneme-based subword embedding has been developed to solve the complex morphological issue in the Malay language-based computational linguistic applications. The experiment involves various sequence-to sequence (seq2seq) models to generate the Malay news headlines. Besides that, the out-of-vocabulary (OOV) is assessed in the models. From the experiment, the proposed hybrid text summarization model shows significant improvement over the baseline models above 11.00 in ROUGE-1, 4.00 ROUGE-2, and 11.00 in ROUGE-L. The proposed model can reduce the OOV rate to below 15%.

In learning mathematics, students tend to only be directed to get good results, without paying attention to how the exploration process of the problems given. In fact, the exploration process that students go through is different from one another and influenced by certain factors. The objective of this study is to describe the mathematical exploration ability on number pattern topic studied from the students’ habits of mind based on gender at the junior high school level. This study used mixed methods with sequential-explanatory model, and involved 27 students of grade VIII (second year). The instruments used include a test of mathematical exploration ability, habits of mind questionnaire, and an interview guidelines. The results revealed that there are differences in mathematical exploration ability between male and female students where some of the differences are caused by their habits of mind. Female students tended to be more able to explore mathematical problems than male students, because they applied more habits of mind than male students when trying to solve the problem. This also shows that habits of mind affect students’ mathematical exploration ability.
