Multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a significant public health concern in Indonesia, resulting in substantial morbidity and mortality rates. This study aimed to quantify the impact of risk factors of MDR-TB. A case-control study was conducted at Makassar Community Lung Health Center (BBKPM) in Makassar City. A total of 132 respondents, 66 cases, and 66 controls have participated in the study. Data was analyzed using the Stata version 14 tool, odds ratio (OR), and multiple logistic regression. Multiple logistic regression analysis identified significant risk factors for the occurrence of MDR-TB include previous TB treatment (OR=8.46, 95% CI: 3.278-21.858), positive acid-fast bacilli (AFB) sputum (OR=6.40, 95% CI: 2.525-16.260), and adverse drug event (OR=3.45, 95% CI: 1.008-11.867). The probability of developing MDR-TB is 95.9% if there is previous TB treatment with cases of relapse/loss to follow-up/failed treatment, positive AFB sputum, and adverse drug event. The most dominant risk factor for the occurrence of MDR-TB is a previous TB treatment. We suggest that an efficient directly observed treatment shortcourse (DOTS) strategy, particularly in the management of adverse drug event, overseeing and supporting patients who have recovered from MDR-TB, involves the collaboration of MDR-TB healthcare professionals and patient supporters in the Yamali TB community, moving synergistically as an effort to MDR-TB control and prevention.

The objective of this paper is to detect tomato leaf disease using Faster region-based convolutional neural network (R-CNN). The tomato leaf disease recognition system utilizes a dataset consisting of healthy tomato leaves and eight leaf diseases, including early blight, late blight, leaf mold, mosaic virus, septoria, spider mites, yellow leaf curl virus, and leaf miner. The dataset is obtained from various sources, such as Kaggle, Google Images, Bing Images, and Roboflow Universe. Pre-processing techniques, including collage, tile, static crop, and resize, are applied to prepare the dataset for training. Data augmentation methods, such as flipping, 90° rotation, exposure adjustment, and hue modification, are applied to enhance the model’s robustness and generalize its performance. Specifically, we implemented Faster R-CNN as part of Detectron2 using its base models and configurations. The results demonstrate that the X101-FPN base model for Faster R-CNN with the default configurations of Detectron2 is efficient and general enough to be applied to defect detection. This approach results in an average precision (AP) detection score of 87.01% for validation results.

This article presents the design of an active down-conversion mixer for the superheterodyne receiver system for 6G wireless communications. This mixer is developed based on the Gilbert cell in the terahertz frequency band, using the PH15 transistor from United Monolithic Semiconductors (UMS) Foundry in monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) technology. We used the charge injection method to increase our mixer’s conversion gain. In addition, we integrated a buffer stage at the mixer outputs to facilitate impedance matching and improve linearity. The power dividers used in this chapter are based on transmission lines from Agilent's advanced design system (ADS) tool, connected to the input and output ports of the circuit. The proposed architecture offers a high conversion gain of 15.2 dB, with a low local oscillator (LO) power of 0 dBm, a low double sideband (DSB) noise figure (NF) of around 7.1 dB, a 1\ dB compression point of -16 dBm, and good radio frequency (RF)-LO port isolation of 63.2 dB, at a RF of 0.14 THz.

Sumit; Symbiosis International (Deemed University) Kumar , Ruchi; Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University Rani , Sanjeev Kumar; GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management Pippal , Ulka; Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University Chaudhari
Normal people’s interaction and communication are easier than those with disabilities such as hearing and speech, which are very complicated; hence, the use of sign language plays a crucial role in bridging this gap in communication. While previous attempts have been made to solve this problem using deep learning techniques, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs), support vector machine (SVM), and K-nearest neighbours (KNN), these have low accuracy or may not be employed in real time. This work addresses both issues: improving upon prior limitations and extending the challenge of classifying characters in Indian sign language (ISL). Our system, which can recognize 23 hand gestures of ISL through a purely camera-based approach, eliminates expensive hardware like hand gloves, thus making it economical. The system yields an accuracy of 97.5% on the training dataset, utilizing a pre-trained VGG16 CNN optimized by the Adam optimizer and cross-entropy loss function. These results clearly show how effective transfer learning is in classifying ISL and its possible real-world applications.

Understanding human emotions across diverse data sources presents challenges in various applications including healthcare, human-machine interaction, security, marketing, and gaming. Prior research has explored fusion techniques to address multimodal data heterogeneity, yet often overlooks the importance of discriminative unimodal information and potential complementarity among fusion strategies. Recognizing emotions from video and audio data poses challenges such as non-verbal cues interpretation, varying expression, ambiguity in context, and the need for nuanced feature extraction to capture subtle emotional nuances accurately. To tackle these issues, it is imperative to employ efficient emotion representation and multimodal fusion techniques, as these tasks have significant importance within the realm of multifaceted recognizing study. This study introduced a novel approach, optimized multi-layer self-attention network for emotion recognition (OMSN-ER), focusing on feature-level data fusion. OMSN-ER precisely assesses emotional states by merging facial and voice data, utilizing a multi-layer progressive dense residual fusion network and a self-attention mountain gazelle convolution neural network. Implemented in Python with the RAVDESS dataset, the methodology achieves exceptional accuracy (0.9908), surpassing benchmarks and demonstrating efficacy in multimodal emotion recognition. This research represents promising advancements in the intricate field of emotion recognition.

Pattan M. D. Ali Khan , Xavier Arputha Rathina
Breast cancer, a prevalent kind of cancer, is a major health problem among women. Researchers recently achieved categorization effectiveness of breast cancer (BC) detection in histopathology picture database using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) of medical image processing. Although CNN method parameter settings were complex, employing breast cancer histopathological database (BCHD) data for categorization was valued as expensive. This research used uniform experimental design (UED) to solve these issues and improved lion optimization (ILO) breast cancer histopathology image categorization. To optimize the variables at UED-ILO, a regression method was employed. According to the experimental data, the proposed approach of UED-ILO (uniform experimental design based improved lion optimization) variable optimization provided a categorization accuracy rate of 84.41%. Finally, the proposed approach can effectively increase classification accuracy, with results that outperform others of an equivalent nature.

Due to the significant surge in online activity, sarcasm detection (SD) has attracted major attention in social media networks. Sarcasm is a lexical item of negative sentiments or dislikes by utilizing exaggerated language constructs. SD has created a natural language processing (NLP) procedure focused on the intricate and unclear aspects of sarcasm, primarily used in sentiment analysis (SA), human-computer interaction, and various NLP applications. Concurrently, advancements in machine learning (ML) approaches facilitate the creation of effective SD systems. This manuscript presents the future search algorithm with deep learning assisted sarcasm detection and classification on social networking data (FSADL-SDCSND) approach. The major intent of the FSADL-SDCSND approach is in the effective and automated recognition of sarcastic text. In the presented FSADL-SDCSND technique, several data pre-processing stages are achieved to transform the data into a compatible format. Besides, the FSADL-SDCSND approach applies a bidirectional serial-parallel long short-term memory (BS-PLSTM) approach for SD and classification. The hyperparameter tuning process is accomplished by employing the future search algorithm for improving the recognition of the BS-PLSTM model. For superior output of the FSADL-SDCSND model, a sequence of simulations can be applied. The investigational outputs highlighted the improved solutions of the FSADL-SDCSND model with other approaches under diverse performance measures.

The article analyzes approaches to the use of cloud technologies in the process of teaching students at large universities. The model of the academic cloud of a modern university is considered. Examples of software and functional platforms that meet the needs of students in electronic learning resources are given. The deployment models of the cloud-oriented educational environment that includes private cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a university service are analyzed. The cost of deploying an academic cloud based on the educational institution’s infrastructure and renting infrastructure from a vendor is compared. A multifactorial model for evaluating investment options in the university cloud in the context of fuzzy information is proposed. In contrast to the known approaches to solving such a problem, our model assumes that the dynamics of the financial states of the players are set through a system of discrete equations. These equations describe the dynamics of multidimensional variables. The latter made it possible to consider the general problem of investing in the academic cloud within the framework of a game scheme for tasks in a fuzzy formulation, with the financial resources available to the educational institution. Preference sets and optimal financial allocation strategies for building an academic cloud are found.

Next-generation (NG) optical technologies are expected to offer high data rates, multiple broadband services, expandable bandwidth, and flexible communication options for diverse end users. In optical technologies, free space optical (FSO) technology stands out as a promising component to meet the requirements of terrestrial sixth generation (6G) networks. This is due to its cost-effectiveness, ease of deployment, high bandwidth capacity, and robust security features. However, haze and rain are major challenges to FSO link performance. These adverse weather conditions reduce visibility, causing significant attenuation of the laser signal. The resulting attenuation negatively impacts the performance and availability of the FSO link. This paper assesses the performance of a terrestrial FSO link under tropical climate conditions. Predicted attenuation due to haze is analyzed and compared using two wavelengths: 850 nm and 1550 nm. The predicted attenuation is based on a whole year of visibility data in Malaysia, from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. Additionally, the availability of the two wavelengths is evaluated. The findings show that higher wavelengths experience lower attenuation compared to lower wavelengths. These results provide valuable insights into the feasibility of deploying FSO links in tropical climates.

Risk disclosure (RD) is important to inform investors. However, few studies examined this variable in developing countries and in Islamic bank context. This research investigates how RD affect financial performance (FP) of Islamic banks in Jordan. It also examines the moderating role of financial technology (FinTech). We use a quantitative method to examine how mandatory risk disclosure (MRD) and voluntary risk disclosure (VRD) impact return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) in Islamic banks operating in Jordan. Our results show that both MRD and VRD have a significant effect on FP of Islamic banks. Moreover, FinTech acts as a moderator in the connection between risk disclosure (MRD and VRD) and FP performance. The effect was compared before and after coronaviruses disease 2019 (COVID-19) and it shows that the COVID-19 has increased the effect of MRD and VRD on FP of Islamic banks. More focus on VRD and MRD will enhance the FP of Islamic banks in Jordan.

Lane markers, or road markers, are the painted lines on a roadway that separate different lanes of traffic. Lane markers guide drivers and ensure orderly vehicle flow. They are essential for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), providing reference points for vehicle positioning on the road. These markers enable ADAS to give warnings, assistance, and automation features that enhance driver safety and convenience. However, unpredictable illumination, such as a foggy environment, can suppress marker visibility, impacting ADAS's performance. Deep learning-based methods are well-known for their superiority in handling various haze patterns. This paper presents a residual network (ResNet)-based deep learning model to improve road image clarity impacted by fog. The residual neural network dehaze model (RNN-D) utilises a joint loss function to produce haze-free images with improved lighting conditions and enhanced details. The model was trained, validated, and fine-tuned using hazy and corresponding non-hazy datasets to ensure that the model is quantitatively superior in the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and the structural similarity index measure (SSIM). RNN-D achieved an average PSNR of 27.98 and SSIM of 0.8 on multiple open sourced datasets. The proposed algorithm's superior performance and visually appealing results make it a powerful tool for real-world image dehazing applications.

Grid-integrated photovoltaic (PV) systems are currently undergoing explosive growth in Malaysia. However, as more PV systems are installed close to transmission lines, there are concerns about the impact of electromagnetic (EM) properties affecting the performance and operation of the PV systems if they are exposed to lightning strikes, particularly indirect ones. Therefore, this study aims to model the impact of indirect lightning strikes on PV systems installed in proximity to transmission lines. The model involves developing a 3D model of the PV system together with a sample transmission line and creating an artificial lightning event to study the EM activity within the area. The results are compared to the IEC 61000 standard to determine its level of r\hazard. From the simulation results, it was found that the current intensity, H, of the disturbance, can reach up to 63% more than the standard limit stipulated in the standards. The significance of the study ensures that PV systems installed within the vicinity of power lines or substations have adequate lightning protection systems as well as proper earthing systems.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can collect earth surface information with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors during night, day, and bad weather. However, UAVs have only limited volume and weight for the SAR payload. A very light dual circularly polarized pyramid horn antenna was developed in order to improve sense capability in UAV dual polarimetry SAR images. The pyramid horn was designed and simulated in computer simulation technology (CST) 2022. The horn was capable of producing two circular polarizations right-hand circular polarization (RHCP) and left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) alternately using a three stepped septum polarizer and coaxial probe feed on two sides of the waveguide. The results show that the horn antenna was capable of having a wide S11 and S22 bandwidth from 4 GHz to 6.7 GHz. The horn was capable of producing two circular polarizations with an axial ratio below 3 dB from 4.4 GHz to 6.4 GHz. This gain horn antenna was relatively stable in the range of 15 dBiC with a reasonably narrow 3 dB beamwidth of 28° both RHCP and LHCP polarisation in E and H fields respectively.
