Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are widely utilized in wireless systems and maximum data rate communications. The MIMO-OFDM technology increases the efficiency of spectrum utilization. The peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) minimization in MIMO-OFDM is a complex task in wireless communications systems. In this research, an adaptive tunicate swarm optimization with partial transmit sequence (ATSO-PTS) algorithm is proposed for a reduction of PAPR in MIMO-OFDM. The nonsquare-matrix-based differential space time coding (N-DSTC) scheme is used for the encoding and decoding process of MIMO-OFDM. The N-DSTC encoding and decoding are linear error-correcting codes that are utilized for message transmission over noisy channels. The pre-specified quadrate phase shift keying (QPSK) symbol is deployed for the modulation and demodulation scheme. On the receiver side, the serial to parallel (S/P) conversion, and fast Fourier transform (FFT) are accomplished, alongside the received data bits being demodulated to obtain the output bits. The proposed ATSO-PTS method achieves better results according to performance metrices PAPR, bit error rate (BER) and signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR), with values of about 2.9, 0.01 and 0.025, respectively. This ensures superior results when compared to the existing methods of twin symbol hybrid optimization applied to partial transmit sequence (TSHO-PTS), selective level mapping and PTS (SLM-PTS), and particle swarm and grey wolf (PS-GW) with PTS, respectively.

To improve the intuitiveness of maneuver control on omniwheeled mobile robot, many hand gesture-based robot controls have been developed. The focus of this research is to develop a wearable system for data acquisition from inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors and compare its features to be used as gesture recognition using the random forest algorithm. With the need of resource constrained device for wearable system based on microcontrollers, we compared the use of Euler and quaternion-based orientation data as input features. As additional comparison, dimension reduction was also carried out using the principal component analysis (PCA) method. Hand gestures are recognized using data obtained by the IMU sensor embedded in the wearable glove. This study compared the accuracy and size of library files embedded in microcontrollers in several feature usage scenarios. The test evaluation results of all scenarios show that the use of all features provides a balance between high accuracy but small file sizes, respectively 99% and 9.2 KB. However, the use of other fewer features, such as by only using 3 Euler data, 4 quaternion data, or by using PCA algorithm (PC=3) can also be used since the accuracy is still above 90%, with a relatively larger file size.

This study focuses on the design and development of programmable frequency generator using embedded devices that are able to produce square wave signals in the wireless power transfer (WPT) transmitter. We validate the accuracy of the output signal by measuring distance error. We validate that our system can change and sweep the frequency and produce high power by measuring the absorbed power in the load. We conduct the frequency sweep analysis to find optimal frequency and the frequency splitting phenomenon. The experiments show that the system can produce and sweep the square wave signals with less than 1% error. We also find that the frequency splitting occurred when distance among two coils in the range 0.5-6.5 cm and the splitting disappeared when the distance is above 7.5 cm. The frequency splitting shows that the measured optimum frequency differs from the calculation. The difference confirms that the programmable frequency generator is needed to adjust the frequency that can transfer maximum power to the load.

The technique of sampling rate conversion is frequently employed in various fields. A discrete time-varying filter, as well as a sample skip or sample duplicate operation, are required for the most general instance of an irrational and time-variable conversion factor. A wide band of signals is employed in a communication system, especially in specific situations where data must be transferred directly. A broadband sample rate converter with changeable filter parameters is necessary in such cases. Sample rate conversion is a communication system technology that accepts a band-limited high sample rate modulated signal and uses filtering to retrieve the original message signal. In this work, an energy-efficient implementation of a reconfigurable field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) architecture for a sample rate converter is proposed. In applications such as multi-rate signal processing and the construction of channelized receivers, sample rate conversion is used. In this work, a new FPGA based design is proposed to perform multiple sample rate conversion for various data transmission protocols such as Wi-Fi, ZigBee and Bluetooth. A lowpass filter with a 2.45 GHz filter with the minimum number of taps is used to avoid the aliasing effect. Xilinx synthesis tools are used to estimate hardware resource utilization and speed analyses. XC6VCX240t-2FF484 FPGA achieves 15% hardware resource occupancy at a maximum clock speed of 133 MHz.

Instructors endeavour to encourage active participation and interaction among learners. However, in settings with a large number of students, such as universities or online platforms, obtaining real-time feedback and evaluating teaching methodology presents a significant challenge. In this paper, we introduce a student engagement recognition system based on a hybrid method using handcrafted features and transfer learning. The research is conducted on two databases for emotion detection based on facial cues (FER13) benchmarked dataset and our database. We use the local binary patterns (LBP) method combined with pre-trained MobileNet model for feature extraction and classification. The proposed system adeptly discerns students’ facial expressions and categorizes their engagement states as either ‘engaged’ or ‘disengaged’. We determine the most effective model by evaluating and comparing several deep learning models, including Inception-V3, VGG16, EfficientNet, ResNet, and DenseNet. Experimental results underscore the efficacy of our approach, revealing a remarkable accuracy, surpassing benchmarks set by state-of-the-art models.

There is dependably an extraordinary requirement for new types of algorithms in the population-based improvement algorithm. These algorithms improve the execution of the current algorithm. Parameter change approach assumes an essential job in improving the execution of the PSO algorithm. A new algorithm called particle acceleration-based particle swarm optimization (PA-PSO) has been proposed. In this algorithm a particle acceleration parameter is tuned. This algorithm significantly improves the performance of the PSO–time varying acceleration coefficients (PSO-TVAC) algorithm. This algorithm reduces the time varying weight of inertia and the nonlinear acceleration coefficients in the equation of the PSO-TVAC velocity vector in each iteration. Particle movements in the n-dimensional search space are governed by the kinetics of the second motion equation. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed PA-PSO algorithm outperforms the existing PSO-TVAC algorithm on five well-known reference test functions. The algorithm possesses adequate control over the local as well as global optimums.

This paper proposes an approach to sentiment analysis of student evaluation feedback using transformer-based language models. The primary objective of this study is to conduct an in-depth analysis of sentiment expressed in student evaluation feedback, with a focus on introducing contextual understanding into the sentiment classification process. In this research, four different variants of transformer language models were assessed, namely multilingual bidirectional encoder representations from transformers (MBERT), IndoBERT, RoBERTa Indonesia, and generative pre-trained transformer (GPT-2 Indonesia). Additionally, we also compared the performance of transformer models with two traditional models, namely support vector machine (SVM) and Naive Bayes (NB). The evaluation was conducted using feedback data collected from the Evaluasi Dosen oleh Mahasiswa (EDOM) system at Riau University, which had been categorized as either positive or negative. The outcomes indicate that IndoBERT base uncased exhibits the highest performance, with precision, accuracy, and recall values of 0.858, 0.929, and 0.911, respectively. This observation highlights the effectiveness of transformer-based language models in sentiment analysis of student evaluation feedback and provides insights for improving educational assessment practices.
