A novel AI-AVO approach for maximum power generation of PMSG

10.11591/ijeecs.v36.i1.pp99-114
Prashant Kumar S. Chinamalli , Mungamuri Sasikala
Permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSGs) are necessary for producing wind energy that is both highly reliable and reasonably priced. An inventive control technique for the driven interior PMSG (IPMSG) is presented here to maximize wind energy output and decrease losses. This research established an innovative optimization strategy for the highest wind power generation with reduced overall loss in PMSG-based Wind power generation systems. Considering, that the tip speed ratio (TPR), rotor speed 𝜔𝑟 , and quadrature axis current 𝐼𝑞 are optimized in the proposed work in such a way to enhance wind power generation. Further, the direct axis current 𝐼𝑑 is calculated from the optimized rotor speed 𝜔𝑟. The minimization of core loss is considered as the fitness function, which is a function of the direct current axis 𝐼𝑑and quadrature current axis 𝐼𝑞. The optimization is carried out using the explored aquila with African vulture optimization (EA-AVO) technique, which is the conceptual incorporation of prevailing techniques, like the aquila optimization algorithm (AOA) and the AVO algorithm. The performance of the proposed method is validated over the conventional methods, in terms of power output, losses, efficiency, and convergence analysis. According, the findings show that the proposed method attains less overall loss of 149.62 at the starting stage of 50 rotor speed, and it was 36.46% higher than AQO, 36.17% higher than AVOA, 36.59% higher than GOA methods 36.42%, and higher than WHO+PI approaches.

Tsui-Feng Huang , Sheng-Chieh Chou , Anna Liao
Studies show that there is an increase of college students who prefer reading short summaries rather than long complex texts containing knowledge or theory. Thus, this study focuses on improving first-year students’ reading comprehension in Chinese courses by observing the effectiveness of teaching reading lessons in Chinese courses with the curriculum designed based on “schema theory”. The selected reading materials are extensive texts with certain knowledge or theories. For evaluation purposes, the reading test questions uses the same measure of reading proficiency levels of program for international student assessment (PISA) to assess learners’ reading comprehension, contextual reasoning, integration, and analysis abilities more accurately. By comparing the results and discrepancies of the pre- and post-assessment, the preliminary research found that the teaching practice and curriculum designed based on schema theory effectively improves learners' reading scores and instill habits to increase their tendency to reach a deeper understanding of the reading material. This finding demonstrates the effectiveness of applying schema theory to reading lessons; resulting in potential of immediate and enhanced levels of comprehension.

The objective of this research is to describe the situation of mathematical training in the early childhood education degree curricula in Spain through the analysis of the teaching guides of the subjects with mathematical content offered in the different Spanish universities. The aim is to identify the typology of subjects, the number of subjects offered, and the recommended bibliography. The methodology used is descriptive, exploratory, ex post facto, and census. For this purpose, the registry of universities, centers, and degrees was first consulted during the 2019-2020 academic year to obtain a list of all the Spanish universities that offer degrees in early childhood education and, therefore, to be able to download the corresponding teaching guides. Of the 91 universities in Spain, the early childhood education degree is taught in 66. Likewise, 101 subjects with mathematical content have been identified, although only 99 are available for analysis. Most are compulsory, have a study load of six European credit transfer system (ECTS) credits, and are taught in the third year of the degree. The recommended bibliography mainly concentrates on publications from 2001-2010 and mostly on book references.

The load losses of the transformers increase considerably with the presence of harmonic distortion in the currents. Its increase can be determined using an analytical method based on ANSI/IEEE Standard C57.110. On the other hand, when it comes to three-phase banks with transformers of different capacities, delta connections, or incomplete connections, the analytical method does not allow the losses to be accurately estimated, which is why digital simulation is necessary. This work presents an adjusted model to determine the load losses in a three-phase bank of three single-phase transformers with different connection schemes. The model allows for determining load and electrical losses and calculating total additional losses. It is also possible to decide on the load capacity of the bank's transformers, the power factor, and the efficiency with which they operate under these conditions.

In the realm of education, learning and instructional activities play a crucial role in cultivating lasting and meaningful comprehension among science students. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the i-Genius module in enhancing students’ performance in science. The i-Genius module’s development adhered to the ADDIE model, and two specific research questions were formulated: i) is there a statistically significant difference in mean scores between the experimental and control groups? and ii) to what extent can i-Genius contribute to students’ conceptual evolution compared to traditional methods? To address these questions, a sequential mixed-method approach involving interviews, pre-tests, and post-tests was implemented in two distinct schools in the Seremban District. The experimental group comprised 35 participants, and the control group also included 35 students with similar characteristics. Student performance, assessed through pre-test and post-test mean scores, revealed that students exposed to i-Genius achieved significantly higher scores than those exposed to traditional methods in the post-test (t(68)=8.37, p<0.05). This study’s implications lie in its practical application within the school context, offering an alternative instructional tool for teaching science and presenting an instructional model to guide teachers in formulating strategies that encourage problem-posing within the science curriculum.

10.11591/ijeecs.v36.i1.pp517-534
Surya Michrandi Nasution , Reza Rendian Septiawan , Fairuz Azmi
Bandung and Lembang are cities that are chosen by tourists as their destinations. Even though these cities are located side-by-side, each city has different characteristics. Bandung has many hotels and culinary spots, meanwhile, Lembang has many scenery spots. Tourists usually have limited time to visit all the destinations on holiday, which makes them choose several destinations. This paper proposes a tourism itinerary recommendation system based on the calculation of the most optimal route between destinations using the vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW). Later, the optimal route is defined using the shortest path algorithm (Dijkstra). Data for the algorithm came from the collaboration between the several road information and criteria weights that are determined using the analytics hierarchy process (AHP). According to the simulation, the criteria weights are 6.9%, 62.7%, 18.6%, and 11.9% for route length, traffic condition, travel time, and weather condition, respectively. Moreover, the optimal number of tourism itinerary plans is 4 destinations. As the usage of computational resources, it takes 31.8% and 61.9% of CPU and memory usage. The time processing increases exponentially as the increment of the number of requested stops. The output of this research is expected to be a solution to the tourist itinerary plan.

This study investigates the acceptance of camera simulator technology as a learning media by Indonesian vocational high school (VHS) students and examines the relationships among influencing factors. It proposes an acceptance model integrating the technology acceptance model (TAM) 3 and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). Ten factors impacting technology acceptance were identified, resulting in the formulation of 15 hypotheses regarding inter-construct relationships. In this empirical study, a quantitative approach was employed, distributing questionnaires to 200 students at Public Vocational High School 10 in Bandung, specializing in broadcasting and filmmaking programs. After analyzing 145 valid responses, the study progressed in two stages: the measurement model and the structural model. The evaluation of the measurement model confirmed the validity of all indicators and constructs, ensuring compliance with the established standards. In the structural model evaluation, one construct (computer anxiety) and four inter-construct relationships were excluded. This research enhances our understanding of factors influencing camera simulator technology acceptance among VHS students in Indonesia, shedding light on the complexities of their decision-making process in adopting this educational tool.

We compute the numerical solution of Bratu’s boundary value problem (BVP). To achieve this, we apply a new and useful approach to solve Bratu’s boundary value problem by using Green’s function and a new integral operator, along with a modified version of the Adomian decomposition method. This process produces solutions that call for the boundary conditions to be applied explicitly. Statistical results demonstrating the robustness and efficiency of the proposed scheme are included. An exact and approximate solution comparison is made with known results. The quantitative outcomes showcase our novel approach’s high numerical precision and consistency across a range of parameter configurations.

10.11591/ijece.v14i5.pp5117-5130
Aminatus Sa'adah , Roberd Saragih , Dewi Handayani
Millions of people died worldwide as a result of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic that started in early 2020. Examining the COVID-19 susceptible-exposed-infected-recovery (SEIR) mathematical model is one approach to developing the best control scenario for this disease. The study utilized two control variables, vaccination, and therapy, to construct a control function that relied on the quadratic Lyapunov function. The control objective was to lower the number of COVID-19 infections while maintaining system stability. A genetic algorithm (GA) is used as a novel method to estimate controller parameter value to replace the previously used parameter tuning procedure. Then, a numerical simulation was carried out implementing three control scenarios, namely vaccination control only, treatment control only, and vaccination and treatment control simultaneously. Based on the results, scenario 3 (vaccination and treatment simultaneously) showed the most significant decrease: the average decrease in the exposed human population was 98.29%, and the infected human population was 98.18%.

Xu Guosheng , Zhang Xiaoyu , Qian Baihui
A large number of studies at home and abroad have demonstrated the importance of university students’ English learning motivation, but few studies have focused on a certain field, or students’ major particularly under the context of Chinese private university. This research explores students’ motivation to learn English for specific purposes (ESP), and 123 student participants majoring in mechanical and electronic engineering in Shandong Huayu University of Technology participated in the research. Data are presented qualitatively and quantitatively. Students filled in a quantitative questionnaire about learning motivation, then SPSS27 was used to analyze relevant data. In addition, focus group interview, as a qualitative means, was used in the research, and 12 student participants who were going to attend ESP class showed their opinions in the group interview. The results showed that students’ learning motivation comes more from teachers’ personal charm, harmonious teacher-student relationship and comfortable and warm learning environment, while setting difficult tasks for them is not their main motivation. The research results provide a useful reference for teachers to adopt teaching practices that motivate students to learn in ESP class.
