Due to the great level of wind energy penetration in the existing network, huge efforts have been directed to enhance the grid-connected wind generator performance. This paper shows an application of a hybrid algorithm of the particle swarm optimization and the gravitational search algorithm (PSO-GSA) to enhance the transient stability of the grid-tied wind energy conversion system. The variable-speed wind turbine (VSWT) direct-drive permanent-magnet synchronous generator is connected to the network through a full-scale converter. The generator- and grid-side converters are controlled by utilizing an optimum proportional-integral (PI) controller. The criterion of the integral squared error is utilized as an objective function. The PSO-GSA based-PI controller efficacy is validated by comparing its results with that are obtained by utilizing the genetic algorithm (GA)-based-PI controller. The performance of the suggested control scheme is checked during various fault conditions. The control scheme quality is legalized by the simulation results that are obtained using MATLAB/Simulink program

10.11591/ijece.v11i3.pp2443-2456
Nishara Nizamuddin , Ahed Abugabah
The advancing technology and industrial revolution have taken the automotive industry by storm in recent times. The auto sector’s constantly growing demand has paved the way for the automobile sector to embrace new technologies and disruptive innovations. The multi-trillion dollar, complex auto insurance sector is still stuck in the regulations of the past. Most of the customers still contact the insurance company by phone to buy new policies and process existing insurance claims. The customers still face the risk of fraudulent online brokers, as policies are mostly signed and processed on papers which often require human supervision, with a risk of error. The insurance sector faces a threat of failure due to losing and misconception of policies and information. We present a decentralized IPFS and blockchain-based framework for the auto insurance sector that regulates the activities in terms of insurance claims for automobiles and automates payments. This article also discusses how blockchain technology’s features can be useful for the decentralized autonomous vehicle’s ecosystem.

Energy efficiency is an important challenge for wireless body area networks. Therefore, choosing the channel access modes and modulation schemes that guarantee lower energy consumption is necessary to increase the network lifetime, especially in wireless body area network (WBAN) medical applications. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the network energy consumption in on-body medical applications (which are classified as low data rate, medium data rate, and high data rate applications) for two channel access mechanisms: random and scheduled access modes, and two modulation schemes: differential quadrature phase shift keying (DQPSK) and differential binary phase shift keying (DBPSK), which are supported by the 2.4 GHz band of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.15.6 standard. The considered on-body area network (BAN) of the study supports two communication scenarios: the line-of-sight transmission and the non-line-of-sight communications, referenced as CM3A and CM3B path loss models respectively. Simulation results have demonstrated that the scheduled access mode based on time-division multiple access (TDMA), and DQPSK are the optimal choices to be made at the media access control (MAC) and physical layer levels respectively, in terms of energy efficiency, in low, medium, and high data rate on-body WBAN applications.

The poor color rendering index (CRI) induced by mono chip and phosphor configuration in the conventional white-light light-emitting diode (LED) urges for developments in both packaging and material, thus, a modern lighting solution was introduced. The dual-layer phosphor package is an innovative configuration that can retain the lumen output of conventional white light emitting diode (WLED) while also enhancing color quality. The structure of dual-layer phosphor package that was proposed includes two chips and one phosphor. The priority in this research is to keep improving the lighting properties of WLED, therefore, further experiments with this dual-chips and dual-phosphor package are conducted. The lighting properties of LED are measured multiple times with its nitride-based phosphor being altered in proportions and densities each occasion, the results are calculated with a color design model made specifically to monitor and adjust the color of white-light from LED to match desired outcome. The WLED at 5600 K correlated color temperature (CCT) is the sole research object of the experiments. The measured parameters from the 5600 K WLED and the color coordinates of CIE 1931 simulated from the color design model show that 0.0063 is the highest possible discrepancy at 5600 K (CCT). The information from this manuscript provide the manufacturers with the most efficient approach to create a white LED that has good color quality, high CRI and luminous flux.

Wireless capsule endoscopy is the most innovative technology to perceive the entire gastrointestinal (GI) tract in recent times. It can diagnose inner diseases like bleeding, ulcer, tumor, Crohn's disease, and polyps. in a discretion way. It creates immense pressure and onus for clinicians to perceive a huge number of image frames, which is time-consuming and makes human oversight errors. Therefore a computer-automated system has been introduced for bleeding detection. A unique fuzzy logic technique is proposed to extract the specified bleeding and non-bleeding information from the image data. A particular quadratic support vector machine (QSVM) classifier is employed to classify the obtained statistical features from the bleeding and non-bleeding images incorporating principal component analysis (PCA). After extensive experiments on clinical data, 98% sensitivity, 98.4% accuracy, 98% specificity, 93% precision, 95.4% F1-score, and 99% negative predicted value have been achieved, which outperforms some of the states of art methods in this regard. It is optimistic that the proposed methodology would significantly contribute to bleeding detection techniques and diminish the additional onus of the physicians.

Meta-heuristic algorithms are well-known optimization methods, for solving real-world optimization problems. Harmony search (HS) is a recognized meta-heuristic algorithm with an efficient exploration process. But the HS has a slow convergence rate, which causes the algorithm to have a weak exploitation process in finding the global optima. Different variants of HS introduced in the literature to enhance the algorithm and fix its problems, but in most cases, the algorithm still has a slow convergence rate. Meanwhile, opposition-based learning (OBL), is an effective technique used to improve the performance of different optimization algorithms, including HS. In this work, we adopted a new improved version of OBL, to improve three variants of Harmony Search, by increasing the convergence rate speed of these variants and improving overall performance. The new OBL version named improved opposition-based learning (IOBL), and it is different from the original OBL by adopting randomness to increase the solution's diversity. To evaluate the hybrid algorithms, we run it on benchmark functions to compare the obtained results with its original versions. The obtained results show that the new hybrid algorithms more efficient compared to the original versions of HS. A convergence rate graph is also used to show the overall performance of the new algorithms.

iPark: automated smart parking system

10.11591/ijaas.v10.i2.pp107-114
Rahman Atiqur
Parking problems became ubiquitous and are growing at an alarming rate in every major city. It causes parking problems which cause traffic jams, driver frustration, and pollution. Time we visit different public places for example shopping centers, multiplex movies hall and lodging houses during carnivals or holidays, it makes the added parking difficult. Checking out a parking lot results in 40% to 50% of traffic jams. Due to this, car parking, in turn, causes the traffic issue. There are some problems associated with car parking like the way to control the amount of cars within the parking zone, monitoring the movement of the car in/outside of the parking zone, checking whether there's an area inside for more cars or not, and therefore the safety to park. This paper proposes an answer to these problems using the concept of the web of Things. iPark is a fully automated system that senses the entry and exit of a car, displays the entire number of cars parked within the parking zone on screen, and the way many free spaces are available within the parking lot.

We develop a precise writing survey on sequence-to-sequence learning with neural network and its models. The primary aim of this report is to enhance the knowledge of the sequence-to-sequence neural network and to locate the best way to deal with executing it. Three models are mostly used in sequence-to-sequence neural network applications, namely: recurrent neural networks (RNN), connectionist temporal classification (CTC), and attention model. The evidence we adopted in conducting this survey included utilizing the examination inquiries or research questions to determine keywords, which were used to search for bits of peer-reviewed papers, articles, or books at scholastic directories. Through introductory hunts, 790 papers, and scholarly works were found, and with the assistance of choice criteria and PRISMA methodology, the number of papers reviewed decreased to 16. Every one of the 16 articles was categorized by their contribution to each examination question, and they were broken down. At last, the examination papers experienced a quality appraisal where the subsequent range was from 83.3% to 100%. The proposed systematic review enabled us to collect, evaluate, analyze, and explore different approaches of implementing sequence-to-sequence neural network models and pointed out the most common use in machine learning. We followed a methodology that shows the potential of applying these models to real-world applications.

With the growth of technology and massive city development, firefighting services have become more challenging to cope with a smart-city concept. One of the challenges that firefighters are facing is reaching the top floors of high-raised buildings. Firefighters need heavy and oversized pieces of equipment to reach top floors, which they sometimes fail to deliver on time due to big cities' traffic. The proposed solution to this global problem is using firefighting unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to reach the top floors fast and efficiently; It can also provide a better vision for the firefighting team and slow down the spread of fire using fire extinguishing ball. In this paper, a noble design for a Firefighting UAV with shooting and dropping mechanism of fire extinguishing ball has been developed and successfully tested. A Camera with night vision has been integrated into the UAV to provide a helpful aid for firefighters. The UAV has a controller with a 2.4 GHz radio frequency (RF) signal and video surveillance to regulate the UAV's movement. The controller is also for activating the shooting and dropping mechanism. The researchers examined the behavior of the drone in terms of its stability and functionality.
