Channel zapping delays are inconveniences that are often experienced by the subscribers of Internet protocol television (IPTV). It is a major bottleneck in the IPTV channels switching system that affect the quality of experience of users. Consequently, numerous channels switching approaches to minimize zapping delay in IPTV have been suggested. However, there is little knowledge reported in the literature on the determination of the strength of the evidence presented on the approaches of reducing zapping delay in IPTV, which is the prime purpose of this study. The extraction of the relevant articles was designed following the technique of preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA). All the included research articles were searched from the widely used databases of Google Scholar, and Web of Science. All statistical analyses were performed with the aid of the random-effects model implementation in Stata version 15. The overall pooled estimated delay component was presented in forest plots. Overall, thirteen studies were included in the meta-analysis and the overall pooled estimate was 10% (95% CI: 7%, 30%)). Experimental studies have shown that virtual elimination of IPTV zapping delay is possible for a relevant chunk of channel switching requests.

Sovanna Phoeurn , Sakda Somkun
A single-phase grid-connected PV inverter performance under a weak grid is a model designed to penetrate PV energy with a weak grid. Usually, this model gets complex and unstable in power system control such as THD growth, harmonic effects, voltage surges, inverter performance. Experimental results would present the impacts on the system which would lead to instability in the grid system. This study was based on inverter performance control, a weak grid control, the grid distortion examination, and harmonic effects. To optimize this grid system, hence, the proposed methods of oscilloscope and power meter were proportionally used to control the grid impacts and stabilities. The results showed that current THD in distorted grid voltage system surged to 8.88%. VPCC growth was 238.11V, equivalent to 8.23% in a weak grid (XL and R). Such a huge increase could prevent the grid system from transferring power for later operation. During the experiment, the inverter, S power and Q power performances stood for good operating processes without impacts on the grid performance. This method  should be applied with a weak grid system because it provided information about grid stability control.

10.11591/ijpeds.v12.i2.pp783-792
R. S. Ravi Sankar , K. K. Deepika , A. V. Satyanarayana
In this paper the harmonic stability is investigated for multi paralleled three-phase photovoltaic inverters connected to grid. The causes to harmonically stabilize/destabilize the multi-paralleled PV inverters when tied to the grid isanalysed by the impedance-based stability criterion (IBSC). In this paper stability of the system is investigated by varying the grid inductance with constant grid resistance and also by varying load impedance while maintaining grid inductance constant. Stability of the multiple three phase inverters tied to the grid with different grid impedance, inductance value inparticular are analyzed. Overall system is stable up to grid inductance of5mH even though there is change in load admittance. It is concluded that system stability depends only on grid impedance. It is verified with Matlab Simulations.

Scheduling concerns the allocation of limited resources overtime to perform tasks to fulfill certain criterion and optimize one or several objective functions. One of the most popular models in scheduling theory is that of the flow-shop scheduling. During the last 40 years, the permutation flow-shop sequencing problem with the objective of makespan minimization has held the attraction of many researchers. This problem characterized as Fm/prmu/Cmax in the notation of Graham, involves the determination of the order of processing of n jobs on m machines. In addition, there was evidence that m-machine permutation flow-shop scheduling problem (PFSP) is strongly NP-hard for m ≥3. Due to this NP-hardness, many heuristic approaches have been proposed, this work falls within the framework of the scientific research, whose purpose is to study Cuckoo search algorithm. Also, the objective of this study is to adapt the cuckoo algorithm to a generalized permutation flow-shop problem for minimizing the total completion time, so the problem is denoted as follow: Fm | | Cmax. Simulation results are judged by the total completion time and algorithm run time for each instance processed.

A study on modeling of a piezoelectric motor

10.11591/ijpeds.v12.i2.pp695-702
Youssef Baba , Mostafa Bouzi
n this paper, a study on modeling of a piezoelectric transducer type rotary traveling wave ultrasonic motor (USM) is presented. First a mathematical model and numerical simulation results are achieved. The model is based on the theory of piezoelectricity and physic theory. An experimental model is worked out and compared to the numerical model. The influence of the temperature on characteristics such as the rotational speed of the motor is considered. The speed of the USM is measured at temperature between 17°Cand 50°C. To develop suitable control strategies for the drive, a fuzzy model type Takagi-Sugeno is used. The unknown parameters of the output membership functions are determined by least square method. Experimental data are used to examine the validity of the fuzzy model. Comparison between experimental and calculated data of the fuzzy model indicates that the fuzzy model can well describe the nonlinear characteristics among the frequency of driving voltage and rotating speed.

Wireless capsule endoscopy is the most innovative technology to perceive the entire gastrointestinal (GI) tract in recent times. It can diagnose inner diseases like bleeding, ulcer, tumor, Crohn's disease, and polyps. in a discretion way. It creates immense pressure and onus for clinicians to perceive a huge number of image frames, which is time-consuming and makes human oversight errors. Therefore a computer-automated system has been introduced for bleeding detection. A unique fuzzy logic technique is proposed to extract the specified bleeding and non-bleeding information from the image data. A particular quadratic support vector machine (QSVM) classifier is employed to classify the obtained statistical features from the bleeding and non-bleeding images incorporating principal component analysis (PCA). After extensive experiments on clinical data, 98% sensitivity, 98.4% accuracy, 98% specificity, 93% precision, 95.4% F1-score, and 99% negative predicted value have been achieved, which outperforms some of the states of art methods in this regard. It is optimistic that the proposed methodology would significantly contribute to bleeding detection techniques and diminish the additional onus of the physicians.

Joonsung Park , Doo Heon Song , Kwang Baek Kim
Automatic segmentation of brachial artery and blood-flow dynamics are important for early detection of cardiovascular disease and other vascular endothelial malfunctions. In this paper, we propose a software that is noise tolerant and fully automatic in segmentation of brachial artery from color Doppler ultrasound images. Possibilistic C-Means clustering algorithm is applied to make the automatic segmentation. We use HSV color model to enhance the contrast of bloodstream area in the input image. Our software also provides index of hemoglobin distribution with respect to the blood flow velocity for pathologists to proceed further analysis. In experiment, the proposed method successfully extracts the target area in 59 out of 60 cases (98.3%) with field expert’s verification.

Statistical t-test assessment on performance of power system stabilizer for oscillation damping

10.11591/ijape.v10.i3.pp271-280
Wai Myat Thu , Kyaw Myo Lin
The statistical operation is necessary to validate the analytical procedure since the most important common operation is the comparison of result data to quantify accuracy and precision. In this paper, a statistical process is proposed to ensure the impact of power system stabilizers (PSSs) in 202-bus, 40-machine MEPE test system. The eigenvalue analysis is utilized for detecting the lowest damping modes and evaluating the damping ratio of system oscillation, and these modes are applied as input for statistical analysis. A t-test analysis was performed on the difference of damping performance by proposed designed PSS, tuned PSS, and without PSS to support the hypothesis. The t-test results validated that the MEPE test system with designed PSS is most applicable for the improvement of oscillation damping in the power system.

10.11591/ijeecs.v22.i2.pp619-628
Nidaa Flaih Hassan , Akbas Ezaldeen Ali , Teaba Wala Aldeen , Ayad Al-Adhami
Video watermarking is one of the most widespread techniques amongst the many watermarking techniques presently are used; this is because the extreme existences of copyright abuse and misappropriation occur for video content. In this paper, a new watermarking algorithm is proposed to embed logo in digital video for copyright protection. To make the watermarks more robust to attack, host frame and host embedding indices must be changeable. A new algorithm is proposed to determined host frames by plasma function, Host location indices in frames are also determined by another plasma function. Logo is divided using the mosaic principle, the size of mosaic blocks is determined initially according to the degree of protection, whenever the size of mosaic blocks is small, it leads to safe embedding, and vice versa. Digital watermarks are embedded easily without any degradation for video quality, In the other side, the watermarked is retrieved by applying the reverse of proposed embedding algorithm and extracted watermark is still recognizable. The experimental results confirm that watermark is robust against three types of attacks which are addition of Gaussian noise, JPEG compression, and rotation process.

Forecasting is one of the main topics in data mining or machine learning in which forecasting, a group of data used, has a label class or target. Thus, many algorithms for solving forecasting problems are categorized as supervised learning with the aim of conducting training. In this case, the things that were supervised were the label or target data playing a role as a 'supervisor' who supervise the training process in achieving a certain level of accuracy or precision. Time series is a method that is generally used to forecast based on time and can forecast words in social media. In this study had conducted the word forecasting on twitter with 1734 tweets which were interpreted as weighted documents using the TF-IDF algorithm with a frequency that often comes out in tweets so the TF-IDF value is getting smaller and vice versa. After getting the word weight value of the tweets, a time series forecast was performed with the test data of 1734 tweets that the results referred to 1203 categories of Slack words and 531 verb tweets as training data resulting in good accuracy. The division of word forecasting was classified into two groups i.e. inactive users and active users. The results obtained were processed with a MAPE calculation process of 50% for inactive users and 0.1980198% for active users.

A he wind energy conversion system (WECS) consists of many subsystems, which present control difficulties due to the strong nonlinearities of the models and the effects of internal or external disturbances. In this work, the WECS is based on a doubly feed induction generator (DFIG) directly connected to the stator side network and interconnected via a power converter on the rotor side. The aim of the control strategy is to achieve regular regulation of the powers supplied by the generator and to produce energy of better quality. in order to improve the dynamic behavior of the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG); a comparative study is presented between two advanced control strategies; the second order sliding mode control and the FTSMC fast terminal sliding mode control. The proposed advanced tracking controller is synthesized based on the Lyapunov stability theory and guarantees the existence of the sliding mode around the sliding surface in a finite time. The analysis of the simulation results under the Matlab/Simulink environment confirms the effectiveness of the proposed methods through the performances obtained.

10.11591/ijeecs.v22.i2.pp902-908
Salima Belhadj , Abdelmounaim Moulay Lakhdar , Ridha Ilyas Bendjillali
Channel coding for the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication is currently facing new challenges as it needs to uphold diverse emerging applications and scenarios. Massive machine-type communication (mMTC) constitute one of the main usage scenarios in 5G systems, which promise to provide low data rate services to a large number of low power and low complexity devices. Research on efficient coding schemes for such use case is still ongoing and no decision has been made yet. Therefore, This paper compares the performance of different coding schemes, namely: tail-biting convolutional code (TBCC), low density parity check codes (LDPC), Turbo code and Polar codes, in order to select the appropriate channel coding technique for 5G-mMTC scenario. The considered codes are evaluated in terms of bit error rate (BER) and block error rate (BLER) for short information block lengths (K ≤ 256). We further investigate their Algorithmic complexity in terms of the number of basic operations. The Simulation results indicate that polar code with CRC-aided successive cancelation list decoder has better performance compared with other coding schemes for 5G-mMTC scenario.
