Chaithra V. D
Revolution in social media has attracted the users towards video sharing sites like YouTube. It is the most popular social media site where people view, share and interact by commenting on the videos. There are various types of videos that are shared by the users like songs, movie trailers, news, entertainment etc. Nowadays the most trending videos is the unboxing videos and in particular unboxing of mobile phones which gets more views, likes/dislikes and comments. Analyzing the comments of the mobile unboxing videos provides the opinion of the viewers towards the mobile phone. Studying the sentiment expressed in these comments show if the mobile phone is getting positive or negative feedback. A Hybrid approach combining the lexicon approach Sentiment VADER and machine learning algorithm Naive Bayes is applied on the comments to predict the sentiment. Sentiment VADER has a good impact on the Naive Bayes classifier in predicting the sentiment of the comment. The classifier achieves an accuracy of 79.78% and F1 score of 83.72%.

10.11591/ijece.v9i5.pp3720-3731
Kamel Al-Khaled , Issam Abu-Irwaq
The present article is designed to supply two different numericalsolutions for solving  Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation. We have madean attempt to develop a numerical solution via the use ofSinc-Galerkin method for  Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation, Sincapproximations to both derivatives and indefinite integrals reducethe solution to an explicit system of algebraic equations. The fixedpoint theory is used to prove the convergence of the proposedmethods. For comparison purposes, a combination of a Crank-Nicolsonformula in the time direction, with the Sinc-collocation in thespace direction is presented, where the derivatives in the spacevariable are replaced by the necessary matrices to produce a systemof algebraic equations. In addition, we present numerical examplesand comparisons to support the validity of these proposedmethods.

Projectile-target search algorithm: a stochastic metaheuristic optimization technique

10.11591/ijece.v9i5.pp3772-3778
Ayong Hiendro
This paper proposes a new stochastic metaheuristic optimization algorithm which is based on kinematics of projectile motion and called projectile-target search (PTS) algorithm. The PTS algorithm employs the envelope of projectile trajectory to find the target in the search space. It has 2 types of control parameters. The first type is set to give the possibility of the algorithm to accelerate convergence process, while the other type is set to enhance the possibility to generate new better projectiles for searching process. However, both are responsible to find better fitness values in the search space. In order to perform its capability to deal with global optimum problems, the PTS algorithm is evaluated on six well-known benchmarks and their shifted functions with 100 dimensions. Optimization results have demonstrated that the PTS algoritm offers very good performances and it is very competitive compared to other metaheuristic algorithms

Enhancing network lifetime with an improved MOD- LEACH

10.11591/ijece.v9i5.pp3615-3622
Brijesh Kundaliya , S.K. Hadia
Wireless sensor network will be the most dominating field in future era. There are certain issues which wireless sensor network suffers from. The main concern with wireless sensor network is limited energy which directly impact on network lifetime. In this paper we modify the cluster selection procedure of MODLEACH. MODLEACH protocol use threshold value for selecting cluster head. Once a cluster head is selected, it retains its position until it bypasses the threshold limit. In Basic LEACH, it does not use any threshold value but it randomly selects cluster head from the available nodes. We combine the probabilistic nature of LEACH to select the cluster head and threshold base selection of cluster head of MODLEACH. We also apply proposed modification in EAMMH protocol. Our main focus is on the enhancement of network lifetime, and we got significant improvement in network lifetime.

Speech to text conversion and summarization for effective understanding and documentation

10.11591/ijece.v9i5.pp3642-3648
Vinnarasu A , Deepa V Jose
Speech, is the most powerful way of communication with which human beings express their thoughts and feelings through different languages. The features of speech differs with each language. However, even while communicating in the same language, the pace and the dialect varies with each person. This creates difficulty in understanding the conveyed message for some people. Sometimes lengthy speeches are also quite difficult to follow due to reasons such as different pronunciation, pace and so on.   Speech recognition which is an inter disciplinary field of computational linguistics aids in developing technologies that empowers the recognition and translation of speech into text. Text summarization extracts the utmost important information from a source which is a text and provides the adequate summary of the same. The research work presented in this paper describes an easy and effective method for speech recognition. The speech is converted to the corresponding text and produces summarized text. This has various applications like lecture notes creation, summarizing catalogues for lengthy documents and so on. Extensive experimentation is performed to validate the efficiency of the proposed method

Sani Salisu , Mohd Wazir Mustafa , Mamunu Mustapha , Olatunji Obalowu Mohammed
For an effective and reliable solar energy production, there is need for precise solar radiation knowledge. In this study, two hybrid approaches are investigated for horizontal solar radiation prediction in Nigeria. These approaches combine an Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Wavelet Transform (WT) algorithms. Meteorological data comprising of monthly mean sunshine hours (SH), relative humidity (RH), minimum temperature (Tmin) and maximum temperature (Tmax) ranging from 2002-2012 were utilized for the forecasting. Based on the statistical evaluators used for performance evaluation which are the root mean square error and the coefficient of determination (RMSE and R²), the two models were found to be very worthy models for solar radiation forecasting. The statistical indicators show that the hybrid WT-ANFIS model’s accuracy outperforms the PSO-ANFIS model by 65% RMSE and 9% R². The results show that hybridizing the ANFIS by PSO and WT algorithms is efficient for solar radiation forecasting even though the hybrid WT-ANFIS gives more accurate results.

Savita Patil , A. M. Bhavikatti
In order to meet the increasing mobile data-traffic, spatial densification of network with several low-power nodes, the high-power macro BS and HetNet are the major key enabling solution. However, the HetNet is unplanned in nature, causes irregularities and interferences that without any user association rules. The appropriate deployment of the femto-cell in HetNet can provide effective traffic offloading, where the alleviate mobbing in the macro-cells can decrease the power consumption therefore it optimizes the user experience. Moreover, the protection is also important for the macro and femto cell users in a network through maintaining the min-max level of interferences. In this paper, we proposed RPRA that comprises two robust approach such as robust power-controller and the robust channel-allocation approach, which can improve the spectral efficiency and user experiences at lower network coverage areas via eliminating the week coverage zones. Also provide high user rate connection by effective interference in an efficient spectrum, lowering in transmission power and cost-effectiveness via less time delay. To show the effectiveness of our proposed model we have compared with several existing techniques and we got significant improvement in throughput, also reduction in time delay and transmission power.

Dang Trang Nguyen , Kozo Taguchi
In this research, a novel property of activated carbon powder (AC powder) has been utilized to realize a disposable paper-based battery. AC powder was loaded on a 3D carbon paper substrate to make the anode. The cathode was integrated directly on the paper-based battery case by coating multiwalled carbon nanotube mixed with potassium ferricyanide on a side of a sheet of filter paper, the other side worked as a paper-based proton exchange membrane. This design provides a simple but practical disposable water-activated battery. The developed battery generated the maximum power density of 10.4 µW/cm2 at the AC powder concentration of 17 mg/cm2. Although, the output power of the battery is low, it is made of low-cost and abundant materials, and therefore being able to scale up. The battery is a disposable and on-demand micropower generation activated anytime, anywhere by water.

10.11591/ijece.v9i5.pp3504-3511
Aswini N , Uma S V
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or commonly known as drones are better suited for "dull, dirty, or dangerous" missions than manned aircraft. The drone can be either remotely controlled or it can travel as per predefined path using complex automation algorithm built during its development. In general, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is the combination of Drone in the air and control system on the ground. Design of an UAV means integrating hardware, software, sensors, actuators, communication systems and payloads into a single unit for the application involved. To make it completely autonomous, the most challenging problem faced by UAVs is obstacle avoidance. In this paper, a novel method to detect frontal obstacles using monocular camera is proposed. Computer Vision algorithms like Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) and Speeded Up Robust Feature (SURF) are used to detect frontal obstacles and then distance of the obstacle from camera is calculated. To meet the defined objectives, designed system is tested with self-developed videos which are captured by DJI Phantom 4 pro.

10.11591/ijece.v9i5.pp3407-3414
Nazha Cherkaoui , Abdelaziz Belfqih , Faissal El Mariami , Jamal Boukherouaa , Abdelmajid Berdai
Nowadays, the use of the wind energy has known an important increase because it is clean and cheap. However, many technical issues could occur due to the integration of wind power plants into power grids. As a result, many countries have published grid code requirements that new installed wind turbines have to satisfy in order to facilitate its intergration to electrical networks. Among those requirements, the wind farms must be able to participate to ancillary services for instance voltage regulation and reactive power control. Nevertheless, in case of small wind farms having not the necessary reactive power capability to contribute to reactive power support, Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices could also be used to participate to reactive power support. In this paper, an optimization method based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique is presented. This method allows getting the optimal location and reactive power injection of both wind power plants (WPP) and synchronous var compensators (SVC) with the objective to improve the voltage profile and to minimize the active power losses. The IEEE 14 bus system and a 20 MW wind farm based doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) are used to validate the proposed algorithm. The simulation results are analysed and compared.

Voltage instability in power distribution systems can result in voltage collapse throughout the grid. Today, with the advanced of power generation technology from renewable sources, concerns of utility companies are much being focused on the stability of the grid when there is an integration of distributed generation (DG) in the system.  This paper presents a study on DG units placement and sizing in a radial distribution network by using a pre-developed index called Voltage Stability Condition Index (VSCI). In this paper, VSCI is used to determine DG placement candidates, while the value of power losses is used to identify the best DG placement. The proposed method is tested on a standard 33-bus radial distribution network and compared with existing Ettehadi and Aman methods. The effectiveness of the method is presented in terms of reduction in power system losses, maximization of system loadability and voltage quality improvement. Results show that VSCI can be utilized as the voltage stability indicator for DG placement in radial distribution power system. The integration of DG is found to improve voltage stability by increasing the system loadability and reducing the power losses of the network.

A high voltage direct current transmission system : natural and selective harmonic cancellation

10.11591/ijpeds.v10.i3.pp1410-1418
Aziza Benaboud , Alfred Rufer
This study focused on the special High Voltage Direct Current technology. The context is given by combining two original solutions; the first solution, using a natural harmonic cancellation, consists to connect in series two classical frequency inverters which are coupled to the grid through a specific transformer connection.  On the other hand, the second solution is achieved by using three, five or more level converters in square wave modulation, in order to eliminate some selective harmonics by optimizing a switching angle. The simulation and experimental results indicate that the proposed High Voltage Direct Current transmission systems offer high efficiency, unity power factor and better current and voltage quality with fewer harmonic.
