10.11591/ijape.v8.i1.pp61-68
Tarek Hassan Mohamed , Abdel-moamen Mohammed Abdel-Rahim
This paper is an attempt to use the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) connected system to play an effective job in the regulation of the voltage and power of the power system besides its positive effect for the system frequency. A two area power system is used to measure the effectiveness of the proposed V2G scheme. The proposed system is tested under the step load change condition and three phase short system case. A comparison between the system with proposed V2G schemes and that system without V2Gs is carried out showing the importance of the presence of the V2G schemes on system frequency, terminal voltage and total power. MATLAB /SIMULINK software package is used as a test environment.

Improved virtual flux direct power control of three phase PWM rectifier using SOGI-FLL estimator under disturbed voltage conditions

10.11591/ijape.v8.i1.pp34-42
A Rahab , H Benalla , F Senani
In this paper, improved sonsorless direct power control (DPC) of three-phase rectifiers is presented. The new system are based on virtual flux (VF) and notch filter using Second Order Generalized Integrator frequency located loop SOGI-FLL estimator. In order to improve the VF-DPC performance of PWM rectifier, an improved observation method of virtual flux-linkage is proposed. To avoid the relevant problems of pure integrator, and to achieve the accurate observation of the grid voltage’s phase, (SOGI-FLL) are used to displace the pure integrator. Theoretical principles of this method are presented and discussed. These strategies are also investigated under disturbed grid voltage. A theoretical analysis of active and reactive power under a non-ideal source is clearly demonstrated. In order to calculate the compensated powers, the extraction of positive, negative, and harmonic sequences of voltage and current is needed and a multiple dual SOGI-FLL method is used for rapid and accurate extraction. It is shown that the VFDPC with integrating notch filter exhibits several advantages, particularly providing small ripple of DC-link voltage and sinusoidal line current when the supply voltage is not ideal.

Systematic review of aspects of DDoS attacks detection

10.11591/ijeecs.v14.i1.pp155-168
Silvia Bravo , David Mauricio
Distributed Denial of Service attacks (DDoS) are one of the biggest problems facing the Internet. To eliminate this type of attack, the number of which has increased in the period under study, various methods of defense have been proposed. However a detection mechanism that is able to completely counteract the attacks has not yet been found. Therefore, detection and defense against DDoS attacks is of great importance for specialists engaged in computer security. This paper presents a systematic review of the scientific literature on methods of detecting DDoS attacks. From the literature the main aspects related to detection have been formulated. Six aspects for analysis in this investigation were identified: techniques, variables, tools, deployment location, point in time and detection accuracy. It was found that each technique used for the detection of attacks exploits certain characteristics of the network traffic, user requests and specific tools. Finally, it managed to identify the mechanisms that have the highest detection accuracy, such as the datasets they use. It has been concluded that an adequate analysis of the above aspects of detection of DDoS attacks can make a useful contribution to designing an appropriate strategy for neutralizing the attacks.

Noureddine Falih , Brahim Jabir , Khalid Rahmani
Information technology (IT) resource management is considered as one of the main pillars of Information System (IS) governance in the company. In this article, we propose a systemic approach from the structural paradigm based essentially on the formal extension of the ISO 19440 Meta-model. This structure contains specific constructs from the Cobit framework and system tools as the Galois lattices, likely to bring a better vision of the use of IT resource in the company. This technique allows a systemic analysis applied to special structural matrices to evaluate the deployment mode of IT resource to achieve business processes. Such approach allows a good optimization of IT resource as a pragmatic and effective contribution to Information System governance.

Visually impaired has the limitation in interacting with another human. They usually use the sense of hearing and touching their face to recognize human. Face recognition is a technology that can be used to solve this problem. This paper develops a smart cane function by integrated face recognition feature on the cane using Haar-Like features and Eigenfaces. This paper proposed a portable, real time, and wearable product. Raspberry Pi supports portability that affects the delay and computing speed of face recognition algorithms. Utilization of Raspi camera on the eyes glasses is for wearable purposes. Voice output provides information on whether the face is caught on camera or not. This prototype works well during the face detection and recognition process. It needs 3 seconds for one-face recognized in range 0.25 until 1.5 meters from the camera, until the sound and information are generated. It needs is me 5 second for two faces recognized and 10 seconds for 3 faces recognized by a system in the same range between face and the camera. The accuracy reaches 91.67% for the up-right position face but for other position the accuracy is only 18% until 32%.

10.11591/ijeecs.v14.i1.pp267-275
I.D. Saiful Bahri , Z. Zakaria , N. A. Shairi , N. Edward
This paper proposed an UWB antenna with triple reconfigurable notch filters. By presenting there U-shaped coppers in the design, the potential triple interference in UWB applications can be rejected. Six PIN diodes are putted on the coppers to represent the OFF and ON tunable status in order to add reconfigurable characteristics to the UWB antenna. By using this ON and OFF tunable method, the current distribution of the proposed design changes and enables the antenna to have eight operation modes. The results prove that the proposed design can operate over the entire UWB frequency range (3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz) and can filter out the target signals from the WLAN upper band (5.725 to 5.825 GHz), WLAN lower band (5.15 to 5.35 GHz) and X band frequency system (7.9 to 8.4 GHz) in one of the tunable configurations.

Numerical simulation in inductively coupled thermal plasma was made on the temperature distribution in argon (Ar)+hydrogen (H2) induction thermal plasma torch with silicon (Si) powder injection to obtain the temperature distribution and gas flow fields. The ICTP model was used in this research because it has benefit of good repeatability and no contamination process. Interactions between ICTP and injected powder are very complicated to be understood only by related experiments. Influence of input power in ICTP was numerically investigated on thermal plasma temperature fields and powder evaporation. The temperature distributions of thermal plasma and Si vapor distribution were compared at input powers of 20 kW, 30 kW, and 40 kW. Results indicated that higher input power increases the temperature of the thermal plasma with doughnut shape but it slightly enhances evaporation of the powder at the center axis of the plasma torch.

In recent day, Electromyography (EMG) signal are widely applied in myoelectric control. Unfortunately, most of studies focused on the classification of EMG signals based on healthy subjects. Due to the lack of study in amputee subject, this paper aims to investigate the performance of healthy and amputee subjects for the classification of multiple hand movement types. In this work, Gabor transform (GT) is used to transform the EMG signal into time-frequency representation. Five time-frequency features are extracted from GT coefficient. Feature extraction is an effective way to reduce the dimensionality, as well as keeping the valuable information. Two popular classifiers namely k-nearest neighbor (KNN) and support vector machine (SVM) are employed for performance evaluation. The developed system is evaluated using the EMG data acquired from the publicy available NinaPro Database. The results revealed that the extracting GT features can achieve promising performance in the classification of EMG signals.

10.12928/telkomnika.v17i2.8762
Muhammad Yusril; Politeknik Pos Indonesia Helmi Setyawan , Rolly Maulana; Politeknik Pos Indonesia Awangga , Rezka; Politeknik Pos Indonesia Afriyanti
SVARA is the first Social Media audio application in Indonesia developed by PT. Zamrud Teknologi Khatulistiwa. At present, this application does not have feature settings to display content and other basic settings on the user's side. This situation results in users not having the role to manage the appearance of the dashboard according to their preferences. Settings are done entirely by administrators using scripts and must take APIs with regular PHP scripts. And this is very troublesome. So to give a role to the view of user management, the application needs to be made a dashboard setting feature as a follow-up. Through this paper, the researchers propose designing this dashboard feature using the User-Centered Design (UCD) method. The design results show that this method has a positive correlation with user involvement support in the application development process.
