A Quality of Images Fusion for Remote Sensing Applications

10.12928/telkomnika.v14i1.2681
Yuhendra; Padang Institute of Technology Yuhendra , Josaphat Tetuko; Chiba University Sri Sumantyo
This paper is under in-depth investigation due to suspicion of possible plagiarism on a high similarity indexmage fusion is a useful tool for integrating low spatial resolution multispectral (MS) images with a high spatial resolution panchromatic (PAN) image, thus producing a high resolution multispectral image for better understanding of the observed earth surface. It has  has become an important issue for various remotes sensing (RS) problems such as land classification, change detection, object identification, image segmentation, map updating, hazard monitoring, and visualization purposes. When applied to remote sensing images, a common problem associated with existing fusion methods has been the color distortion, or degradation in the spectral quality. The main proposed of this research  is to evaluate the quality of fused images for object identification. We examine the effectiveness of the following techniques  multi-resolution analysis (MRA) and component substitution (CS) fusion. In order to improve this situation, the second purpose of this work is to establish an automatic and reliable way for the evaluation of the fused images, on the basis of both qualitative and quantitative metrics. In this result, It is found that the CS fusion method provides better performance than the MRA scheme. Quantitative analysis shows that the CS-based method gives a better result in terms of spatial quality (sharpness), whereas the MRA-based method yields better spectral quality, i.e., better color fidelity to the original MS images.

Lei Meng , Shoulin Yin , Xinyuan Hu
We propose a new method based on discrete Artificial Bee Colony algorithm (DABC) for traveling salesman problem(TSP). We redefine the searching strategy and transforming mechanism of leading bees, following bees and scout bees according to discrete variables. The transition of swarm role is based on ratio factor of definition. leading bees use 2-Opt operator and learning operator to accelerate the convergence speed and to search the neighborhood. The searching of following bees introduce tabu table to improve the local refinement ability of the algorithm. Scouts bees define exclusive operation to maintain the diversity of population, so it is better to balance the exploration and exploitation ability of the algorithm. Finally, the experimental results show that the new algorithm can find relatively satisfactory solution in a short time, and improve the efficiency of solving the TSP.

Distance Relay Impedance Measuring Problems in Presence of Wind Farms

10.11591/ijeecs.v1.i3.pp464-479
Farhad Namdari , Fatemeh Soleimani , Esmaeel Rokrok
Environmental concerns along with the increasing demand on electrical power, have led to power generation of renewable sources like wind. Connecting wind turbines in large scale powers with transmission network makes new challenges like the impact of these renewable sources on power system protection. This paper studies the impact of fault resistance and its location on voltage and current fundamental frequencies of faulted lines connected to DFIG based wind farms and it will be demonstrated that because of the large differences between these frequencies, impedance measuring of distance relays is inefficient. Hence in these power systems using conventional impedance measurements is not suitable anymore and new impedance measuring approaches are required in distance relays.

Eka Putra; University of Andalas Waldi , Aulia; University of Andalas Aulia , Ariadi; University of Andalas Hazmi , Hairul; University of Andalas Abral , Syukri; University of Andalas Arief , Mohd Hafizi; Institute of High Voltage and High Current Ahmad
The measurement of phase resolved partial discharge requires a gigantic memory capacity to store all the waves of the PD test results. This limitation eventually hinders the testing. It is necessary to optimize on the aspect of memory storage capability to reduce the storage requirements. In light of foregoing, the partial discharge data retrieval techniques with sampling rate methods were used to detect the peak of partial discharge as well as the PD constituent representatives. The optimization process was performed by using integration of oscilloscope and LabVIEW software. The partial discharge data recording can be easily confined to the points of the partial discharge occurrence only. As results, the storage points were reduced by taking wave magnitude associated with PD, thereby resulting in more representative data. Therefore, this optimized method was able to reduce the file size of the test results up to 97 percent of PD original size thereby decreasing the usage of hard disk storage.

Research on Load Balancing in C-RAN with Femtocells

10.12928/telkomnika.v14i1.2358
Zhanjun Liu , Xia; Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunication Peng , Yujing; Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunication He , Qichao; Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunication Ma
The traditional load balancing optimization scheme cannot guarantee the user’s QoS in the C-RAN wireless communication networks when all the neighboring macrocells are under the situation of overload. In order to resolve this problem, we implement the femtocell to the macrocell network, which considers the advantages of femtocell, i.e., small coverage, low cost and better signal quality. Therefore, in this paper, the joint load balancing mechanism is proposed to achieve the joint optimization of femtocell and macrocell network by allowing the users of overloaded macrocell to handover to the femtocell. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed mechanism greatly improves the user satisfaction as well as the resource utilization rate of the femtocell network while decreases the blocking rate and dropping rate.

Image Restoration Algorithm Based on Artificial Fish Swarm Micro Decomposition of Unknown Priori Pixel

10.12928/telkomnika.v14i1.2739
Dan; Wuhan University of Technology Sui , Fang; Anyang Normal University He
In this paper, we put forward a new method to holographic reconstruct image that prior information, module matching and edge structure information is unknown. The proposed image holographic restoration algorithm combines artificial fish swarm micro decomposition and brightness compensation. The traditional method uses subspace feature information of multidimensional search method, it is failed to achieve the fine structure information of image texture template matching and the effect is not well. Therefore, it is difficult to holographic reconstruct the unknown pixels. This weakness obstructs the application of image restoration to many fields. Therefore, we builds a structure texture conduction model for the priority determination of the block that to be repaired, then we use subspace feature information multidimensional search method to the confidence updates of unknown pixel. In order to maintain the continuity of damaged region in image, the artificial fish swarm algorithm decomposition model is combined with the image brightness compensation strategy of edge feature. The simulation result shows that it has a good visual effect in image restoration of a priori unknown pixel, recovery time and computation costs are less, the stability and convergence performance is improved.

Real-Time Automatic Obstacle Detection and Alert System for Driver Assistance on Indian Roads

10.11591/ijeecs.v1.i3.pp635-646
Sachin Sharma , Dharmesh Shah
Road crashes have been a major problem in India in recent times. The occurrences have increased considerably owing to the influx of four-wheelers and two-wheelers. The interior roads connecting villages and towns have been instrumental in multiple animal-vehicle collisions. Although the figure is not too large compared to other causes of road-related injuries, they are significant in number. Though numerous efforts have been in progress to solve and reduce the number of collisions, lack of practical applications and resources along with quality analytical data (for training and testing) related to animal-vehicle collision has impeded any major breakthrough in the scenario. In our current work, we have proposed and designed a system based on histogram research including oriented gradients and boosted cascade classifiers for automatic cow detection. The method is implemented in Opencv software and tested on various video clips involving cow movements in various scenarios. The proposed system has achieved an overall efficiency of 80% in terms of cow detection. The proposed system is a low-cost, highly reliable system which can easily be implemented in automobiles for detection of cow or any other animal after proper training and testing on the highway.

A comparative Study on Similarity Measurement in Noisy Voice Speaker Identification

10.11591/ijeecs.v1.i3.pp590-596
Inggih Permana
One of important part on speaker identification is the measurement of sound similarity. This study has compared two of the similarity measurement techniques in the noisy voice. First technique is done by using smallest vector sum of pairs and second technique is done by using frequency of occurrence of smallest vector pairs. Noise in the voice can reduce accuracy of speaker identification significantly. To overcome this problem, the two of similarity measurement was combined with Least Mean Square (LMS) for remove noise. Results of the experiments showed that the use of LMS can improve the accuracy of speaker identification at the two of similarity measurement techniques. Second technique produces better accuracy than first technique. Experimental result also showed improvement of LMS learning rate can improve the accuracy of speaker identification.

Analysis of AC-AC Converter Based Dynamic Voltage Restorer for Maintaining Power Quality in the Transmission Line

10.11591/ijeecs.v1.i3.pp501-511
Tamilvanan G. , Mahendran S.
In the power system the major issue is to maintain the power quality .The term of power quality is to maintain the disturbance less voltage to the power system. The voltage disturbance mainly caused by voltage sag, voltage swell and harmonics presented in the system. If the system voltage is going below to the nominal voltage, then it is called as voltage sag. These power quality (PQ) events typically last for less than one second. If the system voltage is going above the nominal voltage, there it is called as voltage swell. The AC-AC converter based DVR is proposed. It can properly compensate for unlimited time duration, balanced, and as well as unbalanced voltage sag by observing the power from the grid. The pulse width modulation technique is used to triggering the switches. Only by the simple Bidirectional switches were used for generate the compensation voltage.

Pricing scheme in wireless networks were developed to provide maximum benefit to the internet service provider (ISP), where the given scheme can guarantee customer satisfaction and service providers who use such services. So that the proposed model should be able to attract consumer interest in applying such services. In this research we established wireless pricing model that involve QoS attributes then the model will be transformed into a model of optimization. Pricing models in wireless networks will be studied by looking at existing models as a nonlinear programming problem that can be solved optimally using LINGO 11.0. The solution is to maximize the total price for the connection based on the QoS parameters. Optimal results in the maximizing of pricing scheme is achieved when providers set the increase of price changes due to QoS changes and number of QoS value.

Power System Design using Firefly Algorithm for Dynamic Stability Enhancement

10.11591/ijeecs.v1.i3.pp446-455
Herlambang Setiadi , Karl O Jones
Utilising additional devices in power systems have been developed by industry. Devices such as a Power System Stabilizer (PSS) and a Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) are commonly employed in industry. This work investigated the coordination of a PSS and SMES applied to a power system to enhance dynamic stability. To obtain optimal coordination, the parameters of the PSS and SMES are tuned using the Firefly Algorithm (FA). The simulation of the power system, PSS, and SMES has been performed using MATLAB and Simulink, and the FA run in Matlab. For testing the small signal stability, the eigenvalue of the system will be investigated, while for dynamic stability the system will be given an external disturbance. The rotor angle and frequency deviation of the power system are compared without a controller, with a PSS and SMES included, and with the PSS and SMES tuned by FA. The simulation results show that the proposed system can improve not only small signal stability (steady state stability) but also dynamic stability.
