Research on the Surface Fractal Characteristic of the Rock with Rockburst Proneness

In order to strengthen the prediction of rockburst and inquire the relationship between the rockburst proneness of rock and its surface fractal characteristic, the surface fractal of the rock was studied by fractal method and uniaxial compression test. The change rules of surface fractal of different types of rock were compared by calculating its fractal dimension of rock before experiment and after experiment. Based on this, we found that the dimension after test is bigger than before test for four kinds of rocks. The rock with stronger rockburst proneness has more intense failure in the loading process and its crack morphology is more complex.

Design and Simulation for UHF oscillator using SAWR with different schematics

Various schematics for colpitts oscillator with fixed ultra-high frequency using either LC tank circuits or one port surface acoustic wave resonator are presented. Four circuits used to achieve 433.9 MHz oscillating frequency, Two of them using NPN Bipolar junction transistor, while the others using operational amplifier with high speed, gain and accuracy. A comparison between using passive elements as a source of resonance frequency and using SAW resonator is introduced. Another comparison between using an equivalent lumped circuit instead of SAWR package in oscillator design is also introduced. Two different software tools are used to achieve the required simulation. Proteus and ADS tools are used in simulation with AC, S-parameters and hybrid simulation. This paper is considered a direct application for SAW resonators in wide bandwidth ASK Transmitter / Receiver.

A Overlapping Carrier Based SPWM for a 5-Level Cascaded H-bridge Multilevel Inverter

This paper proposes a switching control for a cascaded H-bridge inverter structure with reduced switches which is used to improve the THD performance of a single phase five level CHB MLI. The multi level inverter is simulated for the conventional carrier overlapping APOD and the proposed carrier overlapping APOD Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) switching control technique. The total harmonic distortion (THD) of the output voltages are observed for both PWM control techniques. The performance of the symmetric CHB MLI is simulated using MATLAB-SIMULINK. It is observed that the proposed carrier overlapping APODPWM provides output with relatively low THD as compared to the conventional carrier overlapping APODPWM.

This paper presents the development of an interactive mobile Augmented Reality (AR) for tourism promotion with eXtreme programming (XP) at Purbalingga district, Central Java that has many places of tourism attractions such as Owabong, Purbasari Pancuran Mas, Sanggaluri Park and BuperMunjuluhur. By applying the AR concept, it is expected the tourism objects could be enhanced by augmenting the virtual brochures which could be viewed over a mobile device. In this study, mobile device Android platform is used to display interactive brochures of tourism promotioncontaining 3D models, animations, and sounds. The brochure provides information in of real attractions of the tourism objects in Purbalingga district.

The Performance of Dynamic-static Spectrum Access Based on Markov Transfer Model

This study presented a non-synchronized random access mechanism that supports dynamic-static spectrum. Generally, the authorized users of two networks (network A and network B) with different frequency bands communicate with each other by using static spectrum. When congestion happened, spectrum holes in their networks can be detected by the opposite networks and then utilized to communicate. Based on queuing theory and Markov transfer model, a user behavior characterized by dynamic-static spectrum access was proposed, and the feasibility of this theoretical model was validated through analog simulation. Thereafter, the theoretical parameters of system performance, like blocking possibility, forced drop-call possibility, and throughput, were measured and compared between dynamic-static mode and unconjugated mode.

The Noise Reduction over Wireless Channel Using Vector Quantization Compression and Filtering

The transmission of compressed data over wireless channel conditions represents a big challenge. The idea of providing robust transmission gets a lot of attention in field of research. In this paper we study the effect of the noise over wireless channel. We use the model of Gilbert-Elliot to represent the channel. The parameters of the model are selected to represent three cases of channel. As data for transmission we use images in gray level size 512x512. To minimize bandwidth usage we compressed the image with vector quantization also in this compression technique we study the effect of the codebook in the robustness of transmission so we use different algorithms to generate the codebook for the vector quantization finally we study the restoration efficiency of received image using filtering and indices recovery technique.

Modelling and Design of Inverter Threshold Quantization based Current Comparator using Artificial Neural Networks

Performance of a MOS based circuit is highly influenced by the transistor dimensions chosen for that circuit. Thus, proper dimensioning of the transistors plays a key role in determining its overall performance.  While choosing the dimension is critical, it is equally difficult, primarily due to complex mathematical formulations that come into play when moving into the submicron level. The drain current is the most affected parameter which in turn affects all other parameters. Thus, there is a constant quest to come up with techniques and procedure to simplify the dimensioning process while still keeping the parameters under check. This study presents one such novel technique to estimate the transistor dimensions for a current comparator structure, using the artificial neural networks approach. The approach uses Multilayer perceptrons as the artificial neural network architectures. The technique involves a two step process. In the first step, training and test data are obtained by doing SPICE simulations of modelled circuit using 0.18μm TSMC CMOS technology parameters. In the second step, this training and test data is applied to the developed neural network architecture using MATLAB R2007b.

New Stability Conditions for Nonlinear Systems Described by Multiple Model Approach

This paper studies the global asymptotic stability and the tracking control problem of an uncertain non stationary continuous system described by the multiple model approach. It is based on the construction of a basis of models containing four extreme models and possibility of addition of an average model. Once the basis of models is generated, an operation of fusion of these different models is made to the level of the elementary control law and the partial output using the geometric method. New sufficient conditions for the stability are derived via Lyapunov technique. The matrices of feedback gains and tracking gains are determined while solving systems of LMI constraints (Linear Matrix Inequalities). The case of an unstable continuous nonlinear model of electrical circuit operating in pseudo-periodic system is considered to illustrate the proposed approach.

Threshold Computation to Discover Cluster Structure: A New Approach

Cluster members are decided based on how close they are with each other. Compactness of cluster plays an important role in forming better quality clusters. ICNBCF incremental clustering algorithm computes closeness factor between every two data series. To decide members of cluster, it is necessary to know one more decisive factor to compare, threshold. Internal evaluation measure of cluster like variance and dunn index provide required decisive factor. in intial phase of ICNBCF, this decisive factor was given manually by investigative formed closeness factors. With values generated by internal evaluation measure formule, this process can be automated. This paper shows the detailed study of various evaluation measuress to work with new incremental clustreing algorithm ICNBCF.

Study of BGP Convergence Time

Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), a path vector routing protocol, is a widespread exterior gateway protocol (EGP) in the internet. Extensive deployment of the new technologies in internet, protocols need to have continuous improvements in its behavior and operations. New routing technologies conserve a top level of service availability. Hence, due to topological changes, BGP needs to achieve a fast network convergence. Now a days size of the network growing very rapidly. To maintain the high scalability in the network BGP needs to avoid instability. The instability and failures may cause the network into an unstable state, which significantly increases the network convergence time. This paper summarizes the various approaches like BGP policies, instability, and fault detection etc. to improve the convergence time of BGP.

Predictable Models and Experimental Measurements for Electric Properties of Polypropylene Nanocomposite Films

This paper processed and characterized cost-fewer polypropylene (PP) nanocomposite films; an experimental work has been investigated for studying the electric properties of the new nanocomposite materials and compared with unfilled industrial materials in a frequency range up to 1 kHz. A small addition of nanoparticles (clay, and fumed silica) to polypropylene showed appreciable improvement in the electric reactance and conductance at different frequency up to 1kHz, in addition, an  electric spectroscopy has been measured the electric properties of polypropylene with and without nanoparticles under variant temperatures (20°C, and 60°C). Cambridge Engineering Selector (CES) program were carried out the electrical/mechanical predictable models for the suggested materials. Finally, this paper leads to synthesize electrical insulating polypropylene nanocomposite films where the electrical properties are properly maintained in order to achieve more cost-effective, energy-effective and hence environmentally better materials for the electrical insulation technology.

Evaluation of Video Quality in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks

Simulating wireless sensor networks; there implementation and evaluation, require the use of a discrete event simulator. Omnet++ is quite a powerful simulator which supports concise and easy modeling of wired as well as wireless sensors environment. Scenarios involving multimedia transmissions with characteristics of video quality control and evaluation must be computed on the basis of Quality of Experience which relies on user’s perception to maintain the video quality. For the multimedia growth and awareness of future WMSNs, it is quite necessary that the performance should be tested for different types of radio models. So varying the radio parameters may allow for the optimization and improvement of the video quality. In this paper we have provided a test bench for the easy evaluation and optimization of the performance of WMSNs using different radio models. The performance is evaluated based on the QoE metrics; i.e. PSNR(Peak Signal-to-Noise ratio) and MoS(Mean Opinion Score), which depend on user’s perception to maintain the video quality.

Sentimental Analysis of Twitter Data using Classifier Algorithms

Microblogging has become a daily routine for most of the people in this world. With the help of Microblogging people get opinions about several things going on, not only around the nation but also worldwide. Twitter is one such online social networking website where people can post their views regarding something. It is a huge platform having over 316 Million users registered from all over the world. It enables users to send and read short messages with over 140 characters for compatibility with SMS messaging. A good sentimental analysis of data of this huge platform can lead to achieve many new applications like – Movie reviews, Product reviews, Spam detection, Knowing consumer needs, etc. In this paper, we have devised a new algorithm with which the above needs can be achieved. Our algorithm uses three specific techniques for sentimental analysis and can be called a hybrid algorithm – (1) Hash Tag Classification for topic modeling; (2) Naïve Bayes Classifier Algorithm for polarity classification; (3) Emoticon Analysis for Neutral polar data. These techniques individually have some limitations for sentimental analysis.

High Penetration PV in Distribution Networks, Design and Control

Global warming is a direct consequence of consumption of fossil fuels which emit greenhouse gasses as they produce energy. Solar energy is the most available energy throughout the world in which regardless of capital investment is free and most importantly clean and emission free and could be a solution for global warming along with other renewable sources of energy. But as photovoltaic energy is becoming widespread and penetration level of photovoltaic power plants increase, several issues rise in distribution networks. In this paper, a high penetration photovoltaic power plant is designed and issues associated with it are thoroughly discussed. Voltage rise and cloud passage effect are amongst the most challenging issues in design and implementation of a high penetration photovoltaic power plant in distribution networks. Transient effects of cloud passage could lead to unacceptably low voltage in Point of Common Coupling and maximum penetration level must be set according to these issues. An efficient Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and a DC link voltage control scheme are also presented. Simulations have been done in Matlab/Simulink environment.
