10.11591/ijece.v6i4.pp1421-1433
Mohamed Tahar Makhloufi , Yassine Abdessemed , Mohamed Salah Khireddine
This paper presents an intelligent control strategy that uses a feedforward artificial neural network in order to improve the performance of the MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracker) MPPT photovoltaic (PV) power system based on a modified Cuk converter. The proposed neural network control (NNC) strategy is designed to produce regulated variable DC output voltage. The mathematical model of Cuk converter and artificial neural network algorithm is derived. Cuk converter has some advantages compared to other type of converters. However the nonlinearity characteristic of the Cuk converter due to the switching technique is difficult to be handled by conventional controller. To overcome this problem, a neural network controller with online learning back propagation algorithm is developed. The NNC designed tracked the converter voltage output and improve the dynamic performance regardless load disturbances and supply variations. The proposed controller effectiveness during dynamic transient response is then analyze and verified using MATLAB-Simulink. Simulation results confirm the excellent performance of the proposed NNC.

Manjunatha R C , Rekha K R , Nataraj K R
Wireless sensor networks are usually left unattended and serve hostile environment, therefore can easily be compromised. With compromised nodes an attacker can conduct several inside and outside attacks. Node replication attack is one of them which can cause severe damage to wireless sensor network if left undetected. This paper presents fuzzy based simulation framework for detection and revocation of compromised nodes in wireless sensor network. Our proposed scheme uses PDR statistics and neighbor reports to determine the probability of a cluster being compromised. Nodes in compromised cluster are then revoked and software attestation is performed.Simulation is carried out on MATLAB 2010a and performance of proposed scheme is compared with conventional algorithms on the basis of communication and storage overhead. Simulation results show that proposed scheme require less communication and storage overhead than conventional algorithms.

Multiband OFDM for Cognitive Radio – A Way for Cyclostationary Detection and Interference Cancellation

10.11591/ijece.v6i4.pp1702-1709
Avila J , Thenmozhi K
With the tremendous growth in wireless technology there has been a shortage in the spectrum utilized for certain applications while some spectrum remains idle. To overcome this problem and for the efficient utilization of the spectrum cognitive radio is the suitable solution.Multiband OFDM can be easily modeled as cognitive radio, a technology that is employed for utilizing the available spectrum in the most efficient way. Since sensing of the free spectrum for detecting the arrival of the primary users is the foremost job of cognitive, here cyclostationary based spectrum sensing is carried out. Its performance is investigated using universal software defined radio peripheral (USRP) kit which is the hardware test bed for the cognitive radio system. Results are shown using Labview software. Further to mitigate the interference between the primary and cognitive users a modified intrusion elimination (AIC) algorithm had been proposed which in turn ensures the coexistence of both the users in the same wireless environment.

A Criterion on Existence and Uniqueness of Behavior in Electric Circuit

10.11591/ijece.v6i4.pp1529-1533
Takuya Hirata , Eko Setiawan , Kazuya Yamaguchi , Ichijo Hodaka
Behavior of electric circuits can be observed by solving circuit equations symbolically as well as numerically. In general, symbolic computation for circuits with certain number of circuit elements needs much more time than numerical computation. It is reasonable to check the existence and uniqueness of the solution to circuit equations beforehand in order to avoid computation for the case of no solution. Indeed, some circuits have no solution; in that case, one should notice it and avoid to wait meaningless computation. This paper proposes a new theorem to check whether given circuit equations have a solution and their voltages and currents of all circuit elements are uniquely determined or not. The theorem is suitable for developing a computer algorithm and helps quick symbolic computation for electric circuits.

Improving the power factor correction in the presence of harmonics by reducing the effect of resonance and harmonics

10.11591/ijeecs.v3.i2.pp282-295
Saber M. Saleh , Mohamed E. Arafa
Harmonics in electrical networks occur as a result of non-linear loads.  It has an effect on power factor improvement using capacitors in terms of increasing the unbalance current between units. In addition, the occurrence of resonance and result in the exit of capacitors from service by the protective relays to protect the units from collapse. The main objective of this research is the real-time study of improving the power factor with reducing the effect of the resonance and harmonics on the power system. This reduction can be done using filters, consist of reactors and capacitors connected in series or in parallel or series and parallel together to reduce the current harmonics or voltage harmonics. Single Tuned filter type (passive filter) is used which presents very low impedance at the tuning frequency, through which all current of that particular frequency will be diverted. This research presents two practical power systems 11kV source in Fayoum substation and 13.8kV source in New Badr substation connected to power factor Improvement circuit. These models simulated by Matlab at different unbalance currents and harmonics. Also, it presents the design of the series reactor and the harmonics filter which satisfy the minimum effect of resonance and harmonics.

10.11591/ijict.v5i2.pp68-72
Siswayudi Azhari
Today the world has entered the era of modern air transport where human movement needed to support facilities and infrastructure that support for the movement of activity. The number of routes and flights are always growing by leaps and bounds every year.In Indonesia alone by more than 10 of the largest airliner in which two, namely Garuda Indonesia and Lion Airline, based on data in 2012 each have no less than 50 routes per day and more than 4,000 flights per week [1] (web magazine ZonaAero). To support the security and safety of air transport, the government through the aviation authorities are trying to build an adequate infrastructure. A number of local governments and central government together with Angkasa Pura and Airnav Indonesia (LPPNPI) has a lot to develop the airport terminal, lengthen and widen the runway, install instrument flight (radar, DVOR, ILS etc.), and make the regulations more guarantees The good level of a security and aviation safety. However, for things that are not desirable that may occur as aircraft accidents, it is necessary to support the system also prepared to facilitate the search for the location of the accident. Still clear in our memory how when, on May 9, 2012 a plane Sukhoi Superjet 100 has crashed in the promotion and demonstration flights. It takes more than one day to find the crash site in the area around Mount Salak located less than 100 kilometers from the capital city of Jakarta [2] (Indonesia Wikipedia). The distance of time ranging from a loss of communication with the aircraft until the discovery of the accident scene will be very good if it can be reduced to as small as possible. This will help Basarnas and NTSC accelerate the process of investigation and to provide certainty for the families of the victims as well as those of other interested parties.Location tracking system of aircraft accident would be able to find the location of a plane crash just a few moments after the breakdown of communication between the aircraft control tower / flight controller.

Nguyen Quang Dung , Tran Hoang Quang Minh
In this paper, an innovative algorithm of identification of control system, described by irrational transfer function with distributed parameter characteristics - with irrational components, is proposed. Algorithm is based on real interpolation method (RIM). Parameters of irrational transfer function can be identified by its experimental transient responses. Each of them can be represented by an analytic expression, table or graph. The proposed method is computationally efficient, simple and practical, as is illustrated by numerical examples. In the furure, the method can be used for tuning the controller and for direct application construction of adaptive controllers, working on the identification principle.

This paper presents Dual-Band proximity coupled feed rectangular Microstrip patch antenna with slots on the radiating patch and Defected Ground Structure. Initially a simple proximity coupled feed rectangular Microstrip patch antenna resonating at 2.4 GHz is designed. Etching out a ‘Dumbbell’ shaped defect from the ground plane and ‘T’ shaped slot from the radiating patch of the proximity coupled feed rectangular Microstrip patch antenna, results in a Dual-Band operation, i.e., resonating at 2.4 GHz and 4.5 GHz; with 30.3 % and 18.8% reduction in the overall area of the patch and the ground plane of the reference antenna respectively. The proposed antenna resonates in S-band at frequency of 2.4 GHz with bandwidth of 123.6 MHz and C-band at frequency of 4.5 GHz with bandwidth of 200 MHz, and a very good return loss of -22.1818 dB and -19.0839 dB at resonant frequency of 2.4 GHz and 4.5 GHz respectively is obtained. The proposed antenna is useful for different wireless applications in the S-band and C-band.

Motorcycle safety system has been provided by the manufacturer in the form of a handlebar lock and electrical key equipped with alarms. Keys provided by the manufacturers sometimes fail in securing a motorcycle. In addition the safety system does not provide position information of the stolen motorcycle to the owner. With these problems, the paper presents safety locked motorcycle equipped with artificial intelligence algorithms. Artificial intelligence algorithm is used to find and detect the location of the motorcycle using the shortest path algorithm. This paper applies search algorithm using Dijkstra algorithm where the algorithm is used to make the decision to get the location of the motorcycle. By using the algorithm, the location of the motorcycle can be detected but it is not able to find the shortest path needed. Therefore, this paper describes the modification of Dijkstra algorithm by adding a Fuzzy algorithm that is used for the weight values in decision making, so that it can pursue to find the shortest path.

10.11591/ijape.v5.i2.pp79-86
R. Kavitha , Rani Thottungal , Brindha. R
A hybrid optimization algorithm is proposed in this paper to find the optimum switching angles in a Cascaded Multilevel Inverter (CMLI). A seven level cascaded inverter is considered and optimum switching angles are found by hybrid Biogeographical Based Optimization search (BBO) / Mesh Adaptive Direct Search (MAS) algorithm. The fundamental frequency Selective Harmonic Elimination-Pulse Width Modulation (SHE-PWM)  technique is applied in order to reduce the switching losses.Reconfiguration technique is also proposed to achieve harmonic elimination for entire  Modulation index(M). The various performance indices like phase THD, line THD, lower order harmonics eliminated in a CMLI are calculated based on the optimized switching angles. A seven level CMLI is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK by using switching angles calculated from BBO/MAS algorithm and the FFT analysis of traditional SHE-PWM and reconfiguration SHE-PWM methods are compared and verified with the calculated values from BBO/MAS algorithm.

10.11591/ijape.v5.i2.pp87-94
K. Prameela , D. Vijay Kumar , B. Trinadha
This paper uses super capacitor as the energy storage device for the DVR to compensate voltage sag, voltage swell and harmonics due to addition of nonlinear load in the distribution line. Based on this topology, DVR consist of super capacitor, z source inverter and injection transformer. Super capacitor produces the necessary dc voltage which is given as the input voltage to the z-source inverter; provide the necessary injecting voltage, which has to be restored. A new topology based on Z-source inverter is presented in order to enhance the voltage restoration property of dynamic voltage restorer. Z-source inverter would ensure a constant DC voltage across the DC-link during the process of voltage compensation. The modeling of Z-source based dynamic voltage restorer is carried out component wise and their performances are analyzed using MATLAB software

Design and Implementation of Three Phase Reversing Voltage Multilevel Inverter

10.11591/ijape.v5.i2.pp59-71
G. Vijaykrishna , Y. Kusumalatha
This paper examines how a Reversing voltage multilevel inverter (RVMLI) strategy is enforced to develop multilevel inverter fulfilment. This approach has been used SPWM-PD technique to regulate the electrical inverter. It desires numerous less range of carrier signals to deliver gate pulses of switches. Increasing within the levels during this strategy aid in reduction of output voltage harmonics expeditiously and improves power quality at output of the electrical inverter. It wants a lowered quantity of total switches, which is in a position to decreases of switching losses in this process. The Three-phase reversing voltage multilevel inverter of 7- level and 9- level is accomplished for R-load and R-L load and Three Phase Induction Motor. A reversing voltage multilevel inverter of 7- level and 9- level simulation is intended and developed. Mat lab/Simulink outcome is awarded to validate the proposed scheme.

This paper presents an effective approach to optimize the reassignment of Human Resources in the enterprise that is formed by several units of productions to take into consideration the human characteristics. This approach consists of two steps; the first step is to formalize the studied problem that is practically take the form of the generalized assignment problem (GAP) known as NP-hard problem. Additionally, the variables in the formulation of our problem are interlinked by certain constraints. These two proprieties can to justify the important complexity of this problem. The second step is focused to solve this complex problem by using the genetic algorithm. We present the experimentally result for justifying the validity of the proposed approach. So, the solution obtained allowed us to get an optimal assignment of personnel that can lead to improve the average productivity or ratability or at least ensure its equilibration within sites of enterprise.
