Selwa Fetissi , Djamel Labed , Imen Labed
Transient stability is an important aspect in the operation of electrical power system. In case of fault occurs in the system, the determining of fault clearing time of circuit breaker is considered one of the main factors to ensure power transfer of the system. This paper is aim to study the transient stability of single machine infinite bus system (SMIB), based on the rotor angle stability. The study is performed to determine the influence of the critical clearing time of the circuit breakers on the rotor angle stability of the generator in the case of three phase fault. For obtaining and determining numerically the nature of the rotor angle of machine, we applied the Step-by-step method for different values of fault clearing time. The results of simulation indicate that determine of critical clearing time is a major evaluation in stability studies. The system model is created in MATLAB/ SIMULINK software.

Optimized Operation-Planning of a Microgrid with Renewable Sources and Vehicle to Grid

10.11591/ijeecs.v16.i3.pp401-408
Asad Waqar , Shaorong Wang , Qasim Kamil Mohsin , Muhammad Zahid
The microgrid with renewable sources possess stability issues. During the grid-connected mode, these issues are taken care by the external grid. However in case of islanding, the distributed generators within the microgrid, have to take care of these issues independently. It needs additional backup like diesel generation or battery storage, which increases the overall capital and operation costs. With the intervention of the V2G storage, these costs can be saved to some extent. However similar to the renewable sources like wind and solar, the power from V2G is also fluctuating which may lead the microgrid towards an uneconomical operation. Therefore an extensive operation-planning is needed to deal with these uncertainties, for the microgrid to be economically viable. In this context, the stochastic programming has been applied to achieve the optimum results. The stochastic scenarios for wind speed, solar radiation, V2G power and load fluctuation have been generated using the Markov chain Monte Carlo method. The optimized operation-planning aims to minimize the total net present cost, size of the fixed storage and fossil fuel emissions subject to constraints. The simulations have been performed using Matlab/Simulink, HOMER and Excel. The simulation results show that the V2G technology substantially decrease the total net present cost. Moreover for such a microgrid the total net present cost and fossil fuel emissions conflict with each other.

Arasakumar Sangari , R Umamaheswari
In this paper, the performance of different Impedance Source Inverter (ZSI) topologies in implementing single stage power conversion for grid ingetertion of PV power converters  is discussed.Unlike the traditional inverters, ZSI employs a distinctive impedance network, thereby making shoot-through state is possible. The independent control variables are shoot-through duty ratio and modulation index. Simple Boost Control pulse width modulation technique was used in this work to vary the modulation index. Here the basic operation, simple boost control method, characteristics, requirements and harmonic analysis of the classical Z-Source Inverter (ZSI), TZ-Source Inverter (TZSI), Trans-Z-Source Inverter (Trans-ZSI) and Improved ZSI (IMZSI) topologies were compared for interfacing the wide range  variable input energy to utility supply system. The performances were compared based on its MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation model and featured results are shown to confirm its validity.

Speaker  Recognition  is  the  computing  task  of confirmatory a user’s claimed  identity mistreatment characteristics extracted  from  their  voices.  This  technique  is  one  of  the  most helpful  and in style  biometric  recognition  techniques  in  the  world particularly connected  to  areas  in that security could be a major concern. It are often used for authentication, police work, rhetorical speaker recognition and variety of connected activities. The method of Speaker recognition consists of two modules particularly feature extraction and have matching. Feature extraction is that the method during which we have a tendency to extract a tiny low quantity of knowledge from  the  voice  signal  that will  later  be  used  to  represent every  speaker.    Feature  matching involves  identification  of  the  unknown  speaker  by scrutiny  the  extracted options  from his/her voice input with those from a collection of identified speakers. Our projected  work  consists  of  truncating  a  recorded  voice  signal,  framing  it,  passing  it through  a  window perform, conniving  the  Short  Term  FFT,  extracting  its options  and Matching it with a hold on guide.  Cepstral constant  Calculation  and  Mel  frequency Cepstral  Coefficients  (MFCC) area unit  applied  for  feature  extraction  purpose.VQLBG (Vector Quantization via Linde-Buzo-Gray) algorithmic rule is used for generating guide and feature matching purpose.

This paper proposes a novel method for speed control of three-phase Induction Motor (IM) which can be used for both healthy three-phase IM and three-phase IM under open-phase fault. The proposed fault-tolerant control system is derived from conventional Field-Oriented Control (FOC) algorithm with minor changes on it. The presented drive system is based on using an appropriate transformation matrix for the stator current variables. The presented method in this paper can be also used for speed control of single-phase IMs with two windings. The feasibility of the proposed strategy is verified by simulation results.

Today, analysis of data which is available on the web has become more popular, by using such data we are capable to solve many issues. Our project deals with the analysis of commodity price data available on the web. In general, commodity price data analysis is performed to know inflation rate prevailing in the country and also to know cost price index (CPI). Presently in some countries this analysis is done manually by collecting data from different cities, then calculate inflation and CPI using some predefined formulae. To make this entire process automatic we are developing this project. Now a day’s most of the customers are depending on online websites for their day to day purchases. This is the reason we are implementing a system to collect the data available in various e-commerce sites for commodity price analysis. Here, we are going to introduce a data scraping technique which enables us to collect data of various products available online and then store it in a database there after we perform analysis on them. By this process we can reduce the burden of collecting data manually by reaching various cities. The system consists of web module which perform analysis and visualization of data available in the database.

WAMS-Based SSR Damping Controller Design for FACTS Devices and Investigating Effects of Communication Delays

10.11591/ijpeds.v6.i4.pp736-746
Mortaza Farsadi , Arash Ghasemi
Recent technological progresses in the wide-area measurement systems (WAMS) are realizing the centralized controls as a breakthrough for improving the power systems stability. The most challenging deficiency against WAMS technology is related to communication delays. If this latency is neglected, it can deteriorate the damping performance of closed loop control or even degrade the system stability. This paper investigates a conventional Wide Area Damping Controller (WADC) for a static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) to damp out the Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) and also investigation of the destructive effect of time delay in remote feedback signal. A new optimization algorithm called teaching-learning-based- optimization (TLBO) algorithm has been implemented to normalize and optimize the parameters of the global SSR damping controller. The IEEE Second Benchmark Model is considered as the system under study and all simulations are carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.

Evaluation of h- and g-indices of Scientific Authors using Modified K-Means Clustering Algorithm

10.11591/ijaas.v4.i4.pp130-134
S. Govinda Rao , A. Govardhan
In this paper we proposed modified K-means algorithm to assess scientific authors performance by using their h,g-indices values. K-means suffers from poor computational scaling and efficiency as the number of clusters has to be supplied by the user. Hence, in this work, we introduce a modification of K-means algorithm that efficiently searches the data to cluster points by compute the sum of squares within each cluster which makes the program to select the most promising subset of classes for clustering. The proposed algorithm was tested on IRIS and ZOO data sets as well as on our local dataset comprising of h- and g-indices, which are the prominent markers for scientific excellence of authors publishing papers in various national and international journals. Results from analysis reveal that the modified k-means algorithm is much faster and outperforms the conventional algorithm in terms of clustering performance, measured by the data discrepancy factor.
