An Optimized Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy-Based Satellite Attitude Controller by Two State Actuator

10.11591/ijai.v3.i4.pp166-176
Sobutyeh Rezanezhad
In this paper, an algorithm was presented to control the satellite attitude in orbit in order to reduce the fuel consumption and increase longevity of satellite. Because of proper operation and simplicity, fuzzy controller was used to save fuel and analyze the uncertainty and nonlinearities of satellite control system. The presented control algorithm has a high level of reliability facing unwanted disturbances considering the satellite limitations. The controller was designed based on Takagi-Sugeno satellite dynamic model, a powerful tool for modeling nonlinear systems. Inherent chattering related to on-off controller produces limit cycles with low frequency amplitude. This increases the system error and maximizes the satellite fuel consumption. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm was used to minimize the system error. The satellite simulation results show the high performance of fuzzy on-off controller with the presented algorithm.

Improvement of Transient Stability Performance of Captive Power Plant During Islanding Condition

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i12.pp8001-8007
Utpal Goswami , Tapas Kumar Sengupta , Arabinda Das
This paper deals with an idea to improve the transient stability of captive generator sets during islanding condition. But doing so, the transient stability of the generator sets and the power system is severely disturbed in case of a fault in the utility side. In case of fault, the own generation is isolated, synchronization is lost and finally the sets go in islanding mode of operation. As such sets are of small size (5-50 MWs), total load throw-off in utility side causes disturbance in the transient form. If disturbances are not recovered immediately in terms of turbine speed, voltage variation etc., the power supply will be unstable and process suffers. A remedial measure, for the case concerned, can be taken with the aid of a SVC during the tripping of the utility load, at the generator bus before the frequency and voltage stabilization. The analysis was done using ETAP software.

10.11591/ijaas.v3.i4.pp184-195
Ali A Mohammed
The recent increase in privately owned vehicles has caused numerous problems: traffic congestions, unnecessary fuel lost and global warming are only few of these problems. This study will try to understand people’s behavior and modal choice and try to sway them to means of public transportation. A survey of mode choice between cars users in a neighborhood in Kuala Lumpur was conducted. A total of 25 surveys were collected over the course of a month. Among data collected were demographic details such as age, gender, educational level and travel behavior. The data was processed by SPSS software to determine which factors encourages and discourages using private, public transportation or walking. The study highlighted four models travel time reduction, travel cost reduction, and increase the parking charges and improves the walking facility. The sensitivity analysis results show that the main attraction that might switch private car users is travel time and improving the walking facility. The consequences of these would be less traffic on the roads contributing to less pollution and greater safety.

Sulala M.Z.F AL-Hamadani , Luo qing , Guilong Peng , Miaocheng Weng
Material waste has been considered as a major problem in the construction industry. Material waste not only has a negative impact on the success and efficiency of construction project, but also on construction cost, construction time, productivity and sustainability aspects. This paper aims to identify the major causative factors of material waste in China construction sites, their preventive measures and the relations between them. For this purpose, views of Chinese construction industry practitioners in Chongqing city were gathered by a questionnaire survey. The respondents were requested to rate a total of 34 causative factors of material waste and 9 preventive measures, which were gathered from previous literature. These causative factors were grouped into eight categories: Design, Handling, Procurement, Operation, Worker, Management, Site condition and External factors. The major causative factors of each category and preventive measures of waste were determined. Based on the identification of major factors and measures, the relations between them were also determined.

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i12.pp8212-8216
Xihong Chen , Qiang Liu , Denghua Hu
As bang-bang PLL (BBPLL) could resume clock data rapidly, its application in clock data recovery has become increasingly abroad. Aiming at the contrary demand of lower jitter and wider pull-in range of BBPLL, the issue puts forth a method to choose the most appropriate gain of digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) to settle. A judged and modified model has been added to the 2nd order traditional BBPLL, which modified the gain of DCO dynamically by step forward method. Meanwhile it proposes pull-in jitter function (PJF) to judge the modified results. Then it takes a gradual comparison means to search the max PJF. It could be concluded from the simulations that the algorithm of the issue could get a compromise DCO gain in view of BBPLL’s jitter and pull-in range.

Artificial Neural Network Based Economic Generation Scheduling in Nigeria Power Network

10.11591/ijaas.v3.i4.pp206-214
Omorogiuwa Eseosa , Onohaebi S.O
Economic generation scheduling determines the most efficient and economic means of dispatch of generated energy to meet the continuously varying load demand at the most appropriate minimum cost, while meeting all the units equality and inequality constraints in  power network. This is currently not applicable in Nigeria power network. The network under study consists of seventeen (17) generating stations (Existing Network, National Integrated Power Projects and the Independent Power Producers). This work investigates economic generation and scheduling in Nigeria 330KV integrated power network at minimum operating cost using the classical kirmayer’s method and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for its optimization in Matlab environment. ANN is trained to adopt its pattern at different load demands and acquires the ability to give load demand as soon as the set target and goal tends to equality. Cost function for each generating unit as well as a model for economic generation scheduling was developed.

Cut Detection in Remote Versatile Wireless Sensor Mobile Networks

10.11591/ijaas.v3.i4.pp202-205
LEELADHAR annepu
A remote sensor system can get differentiated into different joined segments because of the disappointment of some of its hubs, which is known as a "cut". In this project we consider the issue of catching cuts by the remaining hubs of a remote sensor system. We propose a calculation that permits (i) each hub to recognize when the integration to an exceptionally assigned hub has been lost, and (ii) one or more hubs (that are associated with the uncommon hub after the cut) to discover the event of the cut. The calculation is circulated and non concurrent: each hub needs to correspond with just those hubs that are inside its correspondence range. The calculation is focused around the iterative processing of an imaginary "electrical potential" of the hubs. The union rate of the hidden iterative plan is autonomous of the size and structure of the system. Remote Sensor Networks (Wsns) comprise of a huge number of small hubs having the ability of sensing, calculation, and remote correspondences. Remote sensor system can endure part issue in the system which is known as a cut. So a solitary topology of the system breaks into two or more parts. Here we examine a few slice recognition systems to discover the cuts in WSN.

Brian Gagosh Nayyar , Shaista Akhund , Abida Akram
The Deuteromycetes fungal genus Alternaria comprises of different saprophytic as well as endophytic species which are very common and worldwide in their occurance. Importance host plants include several crops. Alternaria spp. generally attacks the aerial ptarts of its host and early blight diseases caused by these fungi inflict serious damage to these crops. There is a growing concern of Alternaria spp. due to their ability to produce mycotoxins with different toxicological properties, which are harmful for human and animal health. Accurate identification of Alternaria spp. and their metabolites is a crucial phase in the implementation of preventive measures and controls in the system from farm to fork. Considering the importance of Alternaria spp. occurance on crops and Alternaria toxins risk assesment, additional studies in this area are indispensable.

This study is accomplished to calculate global, diffuse and direct solar radiation empirically on a horizontal surface for the divisional district “Khulna” in Bangladesh (latitude 22o47΄N and longitude 89o34΄E) as well as to predict correlations for it by using several meteorological data for 32 years between 1980 and 2012. The global radiation is found to be maximum in the month of April and minimum in the month of December here. The estimated values of the Angstrom’s regression constants a and b are 0.2388 and 0.5228 respectively. The other regression constants were also computed and the correlations proposed for Khulna can be used in future for the estimation of global, diffuse and direct solar radiation if the meteorological parameters remain available.

Magnetic Field Effect on the Electrical Characteristics of a Monocrystalline n+pp+ Silicon Solar Cell

10.11591/ijaas.v3.i4.pp196-201
sarhan musa
In this paper, the effect of magnetic field on I-V characteristics of a silicon solar cell of n+pp+ structure is studied in dark and illumination modes. In dark, both the current and the voltage decrease with increasing the magnetic field in forward bias. However in reverse bias, the behavior is different. Under illumination, the effect of magnetic field on I-V characteristics of the silicon solar cell is studied experimentally and simulated using Neural Network Algorithm (NNA). Both short circuit current (Isc) and open circuit voltage (Voc) are measured under the influence of magnetic field. The solar cell efficiency and the fill factor (FF) are calculated without and with the magnetic field. This performance testing of the solar cell under magnetic field can be considered as one of the non-destructive reliability tools.
