Implementation of a File System with Encryption and De-duplication

With the rapid advance of society, especially the development of computer technology, network technology and information technology, there is an increasing demand for systems that can provide secure data storage in a cost-effective manner. In this paper, we propose a prototype file system called EDFS (Encryption and De-duplication File System), which provides both data security and space efficiency in storage systems. We adopt de-duplication technology called CDC (Content-Defined Chunking) to chunk the file and compute its unique fingerprint, lookup different blocks, then store different blocks on server to ensure storage efficiency. Thinking of security, we use convergent encryption to encrypt data blocks, which not only ensure data security but also improve the possibility of de-duplication. Finally, we describe a prototype implementation of EDFS based on FUSE [1] and present an analysis of the potential effectiveness, using real data obtained from a runtime database.

Different Control Algorithms for a Platoon of Autonomous Vehicles

This paper presents a concept of platoon movement of autonomous vehicles (smart cars). These vehicles have Adaptive or Advanced cruise control (ACC) system also called Intelligent cruise control (ICC) or Adaptive Intelligent cruise control (AICC) system. The vehicles are suitable to follow other vehicles on desired distance and to be organized in platoons. To perform a research on the control and stability of an AGV (Automated Guided Vehicles) string, we have developed a car-following model. To do this, first a single vehicle is modeled and since all cars in the platoon have the same dynamics, the single vehicle model is copied ten times to form model of platoon (string) with ten vehicles. To control this string, we have applied equal PID controllers to all vehicles, except the leading vehicle. These controllers try to keep the headway distance as constant as possible and the velocity error between subsequent vehicles - small. For control of vehicle with nonlinear dynamics combi­nation of feedforward control and feedback control approach is used. Feedforward control is based on the inverse model of nominal dynamics of the vehicle, and feedback PID control is designed based on the linearized model of the vehicle. For simulation and analysis of vehicle and platoon of vehicles – we have developed Matlab/Simulink models. Simulation results, discussions and conclusions are given at the end of the paper.

Interrelationship between Personality Traits and Emotional Intelligence of Secondary Teachers in India

Emotional intelligence is an ability to control our emotions in abnormal situations. Now it is widely accepted that emotional intelligence also a key determent for success and also in development in personality. Personality is a sum total of emotions. By taking a sample of 200 secondary school teachers an attempt has made to find out the relationship between emotional intelligence and different factors of personality of secondary school teachers. Results indicate that there is no significant difference between emotional intelligence of secondary school teachers in relation to gender and stream in which they are teaching. Further, a positive relationship found in the emotional intelligence and some of personality factors but many personality factors were negatively related to emotional intelligence of different groups of secondary school teachers but most type of relationship was not significant.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijere.v3i3.6145

Dynamic Rocker-Bogie: A Stability Enhancement for High-Speed Traversal

The rocker-bogie suspension mechanism it’s currently NASA’s favored design for wheeled mobile robots, mainly because it has robust capabilities to deal with obstacles and because it uniformly distributes the payload over its 6 wheels at all times. Even though it has many advantages when dealing with obstacles, there is one major shortcoming which is its low average speed of operation, making the rocker-bogie system not suitable for situations where high-speed traversal over hard-flat surfaces is needed to cover large areas in short periods of time, mainly due to stability problems. This paper proposes to increase the stability of the rocker-bogie system by expanding its support polygon, making it more stable and adaptable while moving at high speed, but keeping its original robustness against obstacles: One rocker-bogie system, two modes of operation.

Performance Analysis of Extended AODV with IEEE802.11e HCCA to support QoS in Hybrid Network

The integration of the fixed wired network and wireless mobile ad hoc network can be used to eliminate dead zones in the wireless network, and can also be used to extend the coverage of wireless networks. The integration of wired and wireless networks also known as hybrid networks, is gaining popularity due to its usefulness and practical use. Real time applications in hybrid network need some suitable quality of service. The quality thresholds are imposed on parameters like delay, jitter, packet loss and throughput. This paper utilizes the Extended AODV routing protocol for communication between MANET and fixed wired network and IEEE 802.11e MAC function HCF Controlled Channel Access (HCCA) to support quality of service in hybrid network. The performance of extended AODV, with HCCA (IEEE 802.11e) and without HCCA (IEEE802.11) is compared using simulation for real time voice over IP traffic. The extensive set of simulations shows that extended AODV with HCCA provides the drastic reduction in jitter compare to without HCCA.

Controlling Bloat in Genetic Programming for Sloving Wall Following Problem

The goal in automatic programming is to get a computer to perform a task by telling it what needs to be done, rather than by explicitly programming it.With considers the task of automatically generating a computer program to enable an autonomous mobile robot to perform the task of following the wall of an irregular shaped room, During the evolution of solutions using genetic programming (GP) there is generally an increase in average tree size without a corresponding increase in fitness—a phenomenon commonly referred to as bloat. Many different bloat control methods have been proposed. This paper review, evaluate, implementation and comparison of these methods in wall following problem and the most appropriate method for solving bloat problem is proposed.

SSR Alleviation using BVLC Supplementary Controlled SVS of Series Compensated Power System

Abstract The sub synchronous resonance (SSR) is a substantial problem in power system having a steam turbine generator connected to a series compensated transmission system. Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) controllers are widely applied to mitigate SSR. In this paper, a bus voltage and line current (BVLC) supplementary subsynchronous damping controller (SSDC) is proposed to alleviate subsynchronous resonance (SSR) and damping power system oscillations in a power system. Both eigenvalue investigation and time-domain simulation results verify that the proposed method can damp torsional oscillations of the power system with SVS bus voltage and line current (BVLC) supplementary controller. The results demonstrate that the proposed controller has a successful performance in minimizing the SSR. It is shown that the controller is able to stabilize all unstable modes. The study is performed on the system adapted from the IEEE first benchmark model. All the simulations are carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.

Filtering Method for Location Estimation of an Underwater Robot

This paper describes an application of extended Kalman filter(EKF) for localization of an underwater robot. For the application, linearized model of robot motion and sensor measurement are derived. Like usual EKF, the method is recursion of two main steps: the time update(or prediction) and measurement update. The measurement update uses exteroceptive sensors such as four acoustic beacons and a pressure sensor. The four beacons provide four range data from these beacons to the robot and pressure sensor does the depth data of the robot. One of the major contributions of the paper is suggestion of two measurement update approaches. The first approach corrects the predicted states using the measurement data individually. The second one corrects the predicted state using the measurement data collectively. The simulation analysis shows that EKF outperforms least squares or odometry based dead-reckoning in the precision and robustness of the estimation. Also, EKF with collective measurement update brings out better accuracy than the EKF with individual measurement update.

This research talks about total quality service and customer relationship management effects toward customer satisfaction and its impact on customer loyalty.Fast Food Restaurant KFC, always strive to continue to make improvement in total quality service, so that customer satisfaction can be maintained, which in turn will have an impact on customer satisfaction increase in customer loyalty. Being able to create customer loyalty is also necessary to have a good relationship, between the customer with the restaurant.The research population was all KFC fast food restaurant customers at Rungkut Surabaya, Indonesia. From the results of the testing of the model in this research, by using accidental sampling, analysis of structural equation models, and using Amos 20 software support, the 200 respondents, was able to explain the relationship between the total service quality, customer relationship management, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty KFC fast food restaurants Rungkut Surabaya Indonesia.The result shows that: total quality service have significant effect on customer satisfaction; total quality service have significant effect on customer loyalty; customer relationship management have significant effect on customer satisfaction; customer relationship management have significant effect on customer loyalty; customer satisfaction significantly effect customer loyalty.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijere.v3i3.6191

Artificial Neural Network Weight Optimization: A Review

Optimizing the weights of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) is a great important of a complex task in the research of machine learning due to dependence of its performance to the success of learning process and the training method. This paper reviews the implementation of meta-heuristic algorithms in ANNs’ weight optimization by studying their advantages and disadvantages giving consideration to some meta-heuristic members such as Genetic algorithim, Particle Swarm Optimization and recently introduced meta-heuristic algorithm called Harmony Search Algorithm (HSA). Also, the application of local search based algorithms to optimize the ANNs weights and their benefits as well as their limitations are briefly elaborated. Finally, a comparison between local search methods and global optimization methods is carried out to speculate the trends in the progresses of ANNs’ weight optimization in the current resrearch.

A New Method for Time-Jerk Optimal Trajectory Planning Under Kino-dynamic Constraint of Robot Manipulators in Pick-and-Place Operations

A new method for time-jerk optimal planning under Kino-dynamic constraints of robot manipulators in pick-and-place operations is described in this paper. In order to ensure that the resulting trajectory is smooth enough, a cost function containing a term proportional to the integral of the squared jerk (defined as the derivative of the acceleration) along the trajectory is considered. Moreover, a second term, proportional to the total execution time, is added to the expression of the cost function. A Cubic Spline functions are then used to compose overall trajectory. This method makes it possible to deal with the kinematic constraints as well as the dynamic constraints imposed on the robot manipulator. The algorithm has been tested in simulation yielding good results.

Chord-based Quantum Botnet Research

In order to make the controller better to master the botnet, the traditional chord-based botnets ensure that all adjacent nodes can maintain the periodic communication so that the routing table of every node could keep accurate and efficient. The periodic communication behavior will also increase the risk of exposure of the traditional chord-based botnets. Once one of the peers is captured by network security device, more peers will be captured based on periodic communication behavior of chord-based botnets that leads to affect the botnet robustness. For the aforementioned problems in the traditional chord-based botnet, this paper will construct a quantum botnet control platform based on the improved B92 protocol. The in-depth analysis showed that the infected hosts in the chord-based quantum botnet can more quickly be increased, and can maintain a larger scale compared with the traditional chord-based botnet. So the chord-based quantum botnet owns better robustness and stability.

The Potential Impact of Structured Read-Aloud on Middle School Reading Achievement

Read-aloud is a technique predominantly utilized at the elementary level. This study was designed to research the effectiveness of this technique at the middle school level, specifically, students who were not receiving special education or additional reading intervention services. For the current investigation, students in two middle schools within the same Virginia school district were assigned to receive the treatment of Structured Read-Aloud or received traditional middle-school reading instruction.  These students were tested using the Diagnostic Online Reading Assessment (DORA) both in the fall before the intervention was implemented, and then again in the spring of the same year to assess gains.  Results indicate that the use of Read-Aloud instruction had an impact on student DORA scores and implications of the research are considered. Laboratory Management Informationization System Design under Network Framework

Traditional artificial library management mode is exposed to great impact with the coming of network information era. Many shortages such as low library utilization rate, bad data secrecy, and large workload of management restrict the development of traditional artificial lending management. Based on software engineering’s design thought, this paper analyzes the needs in library system; module analysis method is applied to design the four modules of the system: landing, management, maintenance, and setting up. In server - client network framework, this paper designs the whole library informationization system. The whole system improves lending process, reduces workload, enhances safety confidentiality, and strengthens library management.
