Spatial Characteristics of Wireless Channel in Tunnel with Imperfect Walls

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i7.pp5499-5507
Yi Zhang , Zhao Xu , Bo-Ming Song , Yu Huo
The successful design and application of the physical layer techniques of the wireless network, including MIMO, adaptive OFDM, and mining antenna, to name a few, need the detailed knowledge of the spatial characteristics of the transmitted signals. This paper provides a modal approach to quantify the spatial distribution of the waves in tunnels in detail. We develop the modal theory for propagation in a tunnel with imperfect walls, which are lossy, rough, and tilted. And then, we discuss the transmission power of the antenna as a function of the angles of departure (AOD). On this basis, we take the half-wave dipole antenna as an example to analyse by simulations. The theoretical results show that the angular power distribution in the rectangular tunnel follows Gaussian distribution. The angle spread (AS) of the waves can be influenced by the tunnel walls. The roughness of the wall surface is most important in small tunnels and at low frequencies, whereas the wall tilt is most important in large tunnels and at high frequencies.

It is very much important to have an improved meathod of poultry incubation because of the increase in demand for chicken. But in conventional meathod of poultry incubation it consumes much power and this power is taken from the grid. In short conventional meathod of egg hatching requires countioous supply of power. Weknow about the increasing demand   In this paper a new meathod of solar poultry incubator design is suggested which could be used to hatch eggs from solar pv and hence could reduce the usage of power and can maximize the usage of solar power which is a renewable source of energy.By implementing this meathod of solar poultry incubator we will be able to reduce the power consumption of the incubator by 75% and the cost involved in the design also yields profit and hence could bring out a reveloution in this field.

T. D. Sudhakar
In modern days power system are becoming highly unpredictable, so low voltages and blackout are becoming common scenario. The voltage limits are affected because the system is operated close to its stability limits. To improve the voltage profile new generating plants have to be developed, which are restricted due to economic an environmental limitations. To overcome these limitations and use the existing network to the maximum, FACTS devices are used. In this paper, SVC a FACTS device is used to improve the voltage profile of the network. To decide the location of the SVC, voltage sensitivity analysis method is used. FACTS devices are used to compensate both real and reactive power. To demonstrate this IEEE 14 bus and 39 bus are considered. The complete simulation is done using PSAT version 2.1.6 in Matlab 7.10.0 (R2010 a).

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i7.pp5324-5330
Alvaro Vargas-Clara , Sangram Redkar
In this work, the analysis of a filter consisting of the Brain Emotional Learning (BEL) algorithm is presented. The inner workings of the BEL filter are based on emotional learning model in mammalians brain. The BEL filter is implemented in simulation for the purpose of sensor fusion in a ground vehicle. In simulation, the signals from a Global Positioning System (GPS) and an Inertial Navigation System (INS) are integrated, in order to accurately track the trajectory of a ground vehicle around a track. The BEL filter is provided with some sensory signal and reward signal, subsequently the filter seeks to diminish noise from both sensing units, thus eliminating tracking error. A performance comparison between the BEL filter, and the more commonly utilized Kalman filter is presented. The BEL filter demonstrated robustness to uncertainties from the sensing units, it adapts quickly with dynamical change in the plant, and has small computational cost. The BEL filter demonstrated to be effective in sensor fusion.

R.Hanuma Naik , D.V. Ashok Kumar , K.S.R. Anjaneyulu
Tuning of controllers for multivariable process is a difficult task because of interaction involved among the variables. In this paper, a simple tuning strategy is used for design of a multi-loop PI controller to achieve desired frequency response for interactive multivariable processes. To handle the loop interaction, a pairing of controlled variable and manipulted variable is determined based on the integrity obtained from effective relative gain (ERG) and Niederlinski’s Index (NI).Then the Equivalent transfer function of model is approximated by the use of relative frequency array (RFA), Relative Gain Array (RGA). Finally a Decentralized PI controller is designed for suggested pair of variables to achieve desired gain, phase margins. The performance is verified on the industrial multivariable processe models to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results clearly reveal that, it gives better performance for set point changes and disturbance rejection. Simulation results are included to validate the robustness of the presented algorithm.

Adaptive Hybrid Synchronization of Lorenz-84 System with Uncertain Parameters

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i7.pp5251-5260
Edwin Albert Umoh
This paper presents the adaptive control and hybrid synchronization of Lorenz-84 chaotic system using a master-slave topology. The Lorenz-84 is an 11-term dissipative system that possessed  four quadratic nonlinearities in its coupled algebraic structure which results to the evolution of  a dense chaotic attractors in both 2-D and 3-D spaces. Firstly, an adaptive nonlinear feedback controller was designed to suppress the chaotic dynamics of the system. By using Lyapunov stability criterion, the asymptotic stability of the error states was guaranteed and the state dynamics were stabilized. Secondly, adaptive nonlinear feedback controllers were designed to guarantee the co-existence of synchronization and anti-synchronization of the system. By suitable selection of feedback coefficients and Lyapunov function candidate, the uncertain parameters of the slave system were estimated. Numerical simulations via MATLAB show the convergence of the uncertain parameters to their true values after a transient time while the two systems synchronized completely.

Performance Analysis of Pathfinding Algorithms Based On Map Distribution

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i7.pp5537-5545
Yan Li , Zhenhua Zhou , Wenju Zhao
The distribution information of game maps is highly relevant to the execution efficiency of path searching and the degree of game difficulty. This paper analyzes the relationship between the pathfinding performance and the obstacles distribution in maps from two aspects, pathfinding algorithm design and game’s map design respectively. A hierarchical pathfinding algorithm called CDHPA* is proposed by incorporating the obstacle distribution in traditional HPA* algorithm.  It is used to hierarchical path search in those maps where the obstacles are densely distributed. On the other hand, a map complexity metric is defined based on the accumulation of xor calculations of given maps. This measure describes the complexity of a map and hence could reflect the performance of pathfinding algorithms, which could provide references for game maps design. The experimental results have validated the proposed analysis.

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i7.pp5448-5457
Waheed Ullah , Yang Fengfan , Abid Yahya
This paper is based on the magnitude overestimation correction of the variable message by using two normalized factors in each iteration for LDPC min-sum decoding algorithm. The variable message is modified with a normalized factor when there is a sign change and with another normalized factor when there is no sign change during any two consecutive iterations. This paper incorporates QC LDPC codes using this new decoding algorithm for flat fading multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel and single relay cooperative communication networks for improving the bit error performance. MIMO flat fading channel is used with zero forcing (ZF) spatial decoding for noise suppression. The performance is greatly enhanced by using the new min-sum algorithm for medium and short length Cooperative communication network and MIMO LDPC codes.

Yueqi Guan , Hanqing Guan , Gaosheng Wang , Ping Yuan
Aiming at the varying cutting features of depth and thickness in high-speed milling, using mathematical methods to model the theoretical three-dimensional model of calculating cutting forces based on the machining principle. First of all, according to the oblique cutting model, a cutting force model of flank edge was presented. The differential method was used in this process. The model was approached with calculating instantaneous chip thickness based on real tooth trajectory. Secondly, the chisel edge for differential along the vertical direction of cutting edges according to the orthogonal cutting model, calculating the cutting force of the infinitesimal. The cutting force model of chisel edge was constructed by the integral method. Merging the both upon, then the three-dimensional cutting force model is established. In the end, the model was programmed by means of the software Matlab. The result indicates that the numerical results agree well with experimental data, and the foundation of the cutter’s stress field can be laid by this model.

An Improved A Low Power CMOS TIQ Comparator Flash ADC

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i7.pp5204-5210
A Al , Mamun B. Ibne Reaz , J. Jalil , Mohd. Alauddin Bin Mohd. Ali
This paper was presented the design of a threshold inverter quantized (TIQ) comparator in flash analog to digital converter. The TIQ-comparator has a high speed response; however this circuit involves a lot of transistors hence wasteful power consumption. The design is intended to obtain a low-power TIQ-comparator and reduces the area of the chip in 0.18 µm CMOS technology. The method was proposed to set each of the transistor channel length for the threshold voltage difference gained of the inverter each in the TIQ-comparator and adding a transistor as compensation to overcome the limitations of the length channel expansion due to the body effect influence. This method has reduced the drain current of CMOS transistors; hence the power dissipation can be reduced. The event has achieved low power dissipation of 31.14 µW and a chip size of 1065 µm2 with 0 to 0.6 V input signal condition.

Performance Analysis of A Hybrid Mimo Technique for High Rate Wireless Communication System

10.11591/ijeecs.v12.i7.pp5458-5468
Kehinde Odeyemi , Erastus Ogunti
The demand for higher data rate and better quality of service (QoS) in wireless communications was growing fast in the past few years. Obtaining these requirements becomes challenging for wireless communication systems due to the problems of channel multi-path fading, higher power and bandwidth limitations. One of the most promising solutions to this problem is Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) system. This paper proposed a combined spatial multiplexing MIMO scheme with beamforming for high data rate wireless communication. The proposed transmission scheme combines the benefits of both techniques and the system was able to transmit parallel data streams as well as providing beamforming gain. Actually, these diverse techniques, share the same requirement of multiple antenna elements, but differ in the antenna element spacing necessary for the different schemes to work. Thus, smart antenna array was proposed as a possible solution and was adopted at the both transmitter and the receiver. The hybrid technique provides higher spectral efficiency and improve better Bit error rate (BER) of the system than the conventional MIMO, spatial multiplexing and beamforming techniques under the same simulation environment.
