This research proposes two approaches for determining the required frequency and modulation index for a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) system in a variable frequency drive (VFD) to control the speed of the three-phase induction motor. The first approach which is the reverse direction algorithm (RDA), uses a set of equations to calculate the necessary frequency and voltage for maintaining a constant motor speed under varying load conditions. The second one involves training a neural network (NN) on data collected by the RDA, which can then be used to continuously adjust the motor speed in real time to adapt to changing load torque requirements. Simulation and laboratory models for the three-phase induction motor are built and the proposed RDA-NN controller is examined. Results have proved that the proposed controller is effective in providing a stable and responsive motor speed control system.

Long-term load forecasting (LTLF) is crucial for reliable electricity supply, infrastructure planning, and informed energy policies, ensuring grid stability and efficient resource allocation. Traditional methods, like statistical models and expert judgment, rely on historical data but may struggle with dynamic changes in technology, regulations, and consumer behavior. Addressing challenges such as economic uncertainties, seasonal variations, data quality, and integrating renewable energy requires advanced forecasting models and adaptive strategies. This research aims to develop an efficient LTLF model for the Coimbatore region in Tamil Nadu, India, using long short-term memory (LSTM) networks. While LSTM has limitations in capturing long- term dependencies and requires high data quality and complex management, optimizing hyperparameters, including through the opposition-based hunter- prey optimization (OHPO) technique, is explored to enhance its predictive performance. The results show that the proposed OHPO-configured LSTM model for LTLF achieves superior performance compared to other techniques, with a mean square error (MSE) of 0.25, root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.5 and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 0.27. This research underscores the significance of improving LTLF precision for informed decision-making in infrastructure planning and energy policy formulation.

Classroom teaching is a viable and effective approach for enhancing student learning and promoting engagement in the educational process. The opinions of students play a vital role in the evaluation of teachers. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of sentiment analysis techniques based on recent research and subsequently explores machine learning, i.e., ensemble classifiers, deep learning, long short-term memory (LSTM), convolutional neural network (CNN), LSTM with single attention, LSTM with multi-head attention, and feature extraction techniques (TFidfVector and Word2Vec), in the context of sentiment analysis over student opinion datasets, i.e., the Vietnamese student feedback corpus, as well as data collected from a final-year student's comment in 2023. Further, the Vietnamese student feedback corpus is translated to English and pre-processed with the proposed framework, which yields interesting facts about the capabilities and deficiencies of different methods. In this paper, we conducted experiments with ensemble classifiers, LSTM and CNN, LSTM with single attention, and LSTM with multi-head attention. We conclude that LSTM with multi-head attention produces an accuracy result of 95.57%, which outperform as compare to other three baseline methods and earlier studies.

The demand for energy on a global scale is continuously rising due to the expansion of energy infrastructure and the increasing number of new appliances. To address this growing need, an efficient energy management system (EMS) has become indispensable. By implementing EMS, both residential and commercial buildings can significantly improve their energy efficiency and consumption. One crucial aspect of enabling EMS to operate efficiently is load forecasting. The accuracy of load forecasting depends on numerous factors. A reliable load forecast model should consider the region’s weather forecast, as it plays a crucial role in developing an accurate prediction. This study is about the medium-term load forecasting (MTLF) for the Province of Taroudant, Morocco, using historical monthly load and weather data for five years (2018 to 2022). To forecast consumed energy three methods are used namely artificial neural network (ANN), fuzzy logic (FL) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). This paper selects absolute percentage error (APE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), correlation coefficient (R) and root mean square error (RMSE) to compare and evaluate the prediction accuracy of models. It has been observed through results analysis that the ANFIS model produces very accurate forecasting prediction with MAPE of 4.75% while ANN and FL models give respectively MAPE of 7.36% and 8.42%.

This article addresses the direct torque control associated with artificial intelligence for the control of the RSM970S radar of The Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA), Douala International Airport. The radar is driven by two identical induction motors powered by a single inverter. Direct torque control is associated with fuzzy logic and artificial neural networks. The test results performed in MATLAB/Simulink showed an improvement in the dynamic performance of the drive system compared to a conventional direct torque control. There is an overshoot in speed during the steady state of less than 0.955% of the neural technique over the fuzzy technique. But also, an accuracy of 99.58% of the two techniques proposed in this article. These results ensure good precision and stability of the radar in the detection of airplanes in the Cameroonian airspace.

In autonomous driving systems, the semantic segmentation task involves scene partition into numerous expressive portions by classifying and labelling every image pixel for semantics. The algorithm used for semantic segmentation has a vital role in autonomous driving architecture. This paper's main contribution is optimising the semantic segmentation algorithm for autonomous driving by modifying the U-NET architecture. The optimisation techniques involve five different methods, which include; no batch normalisation network, with batch normalisation network, network with reduction in filters, average ensemble network, and weighted average ensemble network. The validation accuracy observed for the five methods were 90.28%, 91.68%, 89.80%, 92.04%, and 92.21% respectively. By reducing the filters in the network, the computation time reduces (Epoch time: 1 s 64 ms/step) as opposed to the typical (Epoch time: 4 s 260 ms/step), but the accuracy reduces. The optimisation techniques were evaluated for metrics like mean intersection over union (IoU), IoU for class, dice-metric, dice_coefficient_loss, validation loss, and accuracy. The dataset of 300 images used for this paper's study was generated using the open-source car learning to act (CARLA) simulator platform.

A systematic review on voltage stability analysis in smart and islanded microgrid parallel inverters

10.11591/ijpeds.v15.i4.pp2422-2434
Sowmya Renuka Bangari , Bangalore Gangadharaiah Shivaleelavathi
The development of a smart grid depends on measuring and communication technologies and gathering heterogeneous data from micro grid. This enormous data contains procedures and methods that make it easier to use vast data while also increasing computing complexity and security. Given the maturity of power electronics technology, the penetration of distributed generation in both on- and off-grid environments has advanced in ways that have never been seen. Any complicated power system, like the off-grid parallel inverters, requires a stability study that considers several state variables. The smart grid environment's rising complexity and data explosion necessitate more hardware, which raises costs and necessitates additional physical space. An introduction to the special issue on voltage stability of micro grids with parallel inverters in power systems is presented in this review paper. Self-synchronizing inverters known as parallel inverters do not require a reference from the main grid to synchronize with one another. There are several general analytical techniques and enhanced procedures covered. The similarities, functionality, applications, designs, benefits, drawbacks, and general effectiveness are then contrasted. The significant contribution of this in-depth review is to establish a strong foundation for subsequent research in the area.

Bio inspired technique for controlling angle of attack of aircraft

10.11591/ijai.v13.i4.pp4206-4216
Subhakanta Bal , Srinibash Swain , Partha Sarathi Khuntia
This paper deals with the design of a proportional–integral (PI) controller for controlling the angle of attack of flight control system. For the first time teaching learning-based optimization (TLBO) algorithm is applied in this area to obtain the parameters of the proposed PI controller. The design problem is formulated as an optimization problem and TLBO is employed to optimize the parameters of the PI controller. The superiority of proposed approach is demonstrated by comparing the results with that of the conventional methods like genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). It is observed that TLBO optimized PI controller gives better dynamic performance in terms of settling time, overshoot, and undershoot as compared to GA and PSO based PI controllers. The various performance indices like mean square error (MSE), integral absolute error (IAE), and integral time absolute error (ITAE) are improved by using the TLBO soft computing techniques. Further, robustness of the system is studied by varying all the system parameters from −50% to +50% in step of 25%. Analysis also reveals that TLBO optimized PI controller gains are quite robust and need not be reset for wide variation in system parameters.

Artionyms and machine learning: auto naming of the paintings

10.11591/ijai.v13.i4.pp4445-4452
Anna Altynova , Valeria Kolycheva , Dmitry Grigoriev , Alexander Semenov
Image captioning is a question of great interest in a wide range of applications. In the art market there is a particularly acute shortage of specialized machine learning methods for accelerated and at the same time in-depth study of often too specific aspects of art. One of the main difficulties is caused by ambiguous names of art works, as well as clarifying (in practice, often complicating under- standing and perception) signatures of the authors to them. Although previous research has established that captioning of photos can be done with high efficacy, there is little published data about generation of captions for artistic paintings. In this research, we utilize a transformer architecture to generate an artionym for a given painting in author’s manner. We describe the model and report its performance on different art styles. We assess the model performance with an expert evaluation and image captioning metrics, and then discuss their capacity to analyze art-related names.

A significant features vector for internet traffic classification based on multi-features selection techniques and ranker, voting filters

10.11591/ijece.v14i6.pp6958-6968
Alhamza Munther , Mosleh M. Abualhaj , Alabass Alalousi , Hilal A. Fadhil
The pursuit of effective models with high detection accuracy has sparked great interest in anomaly detection of internet traffic. The issue still lies in creating a trustworthy and effective anomaly detection system that can handle massive data volumes and patterns that change in real-time. The detection techniques used, especially the feature selection methods and machine learning algorithms, are crucial to the design of such a system. The fundamental difficulty in feature selection is selecting a smaller subset of features that are more related to the class but are less numerous. To reduce the dimensionality of the dataset, this research offered a multi-feature selection technique (MFST) using four filter techniques: fast correlation-based filter, significance feature evaluator, chi-square, and gain ratio. Each technique's output vector is put via ranker and Borda voting filters. The feature with the highest number of votes and rank values will be selected from the dataset. The performance of the given MFST framework was the best when compared to the four strategies listed above functioning alone; three different classifiers were employed to test the accuracy. C4.5, nave Bayes, and support vector machine. The experiment outcomes employed ten datasets of different sizes with 10,000-300,000 instances. Only 8 out of 248 characteristics were chosen, with classifiers percentages averaging 65%, 93.8%, and 95.5%.

Unarguably performance is a critical factor to the success of any cipher. Al-Beit Serpent is more secure than advanced encryption standard (AES), it faces limitations such as speed and memory requirement. Hence, this paper proffers a text encryption method S  that ameliorates the performance by running Serpent in parallel using the counter (CTR) encryption mode and further enhances the security by generating sub-keys for each block using logistic map. The intricate logistic map generated keys adds robustness to the proposed algorithm. Comprehensive experiments using Python 3.9 on commonly used metrics verify the efficacy of the proposed method in terms of execution time, central processing unit (CPU) usage, security analysis including key space, strict avalanche effect and its randomness. The encryption/decryption reduction rate reached up to 80.81%. It is worthy of note that it is effectually resistant to brute force attacks having a large key space in addition to its dependency on the number of blocks besides the randomly generated keys. The enhanced Serpent was examined using the statistical test suite (STS) recommended by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and verified its randomness by passing all tests. Furthermore, it efficaciously resisted statistical analysis, particularly histogram and correlation coefficient analysis. Moreover, it prevails over current methods when juxtaposed with them in terms of performance, key space, key sensitivity, avalanche effect, histogram analysis and correlation coefficient, ergo affirming its efficiency.
