Big transfer learning for automated skin cancer classification

Skin cancer is an example of the most dangerous disease. Early diagnosis of skin cancer can save many people’s lives. Manual classification methods are time-consuming and costly. Deep learning has been proposed for the automated classification of skin cancer. Although deep learning showed impressive performance in several medical imaging tasks, it requires a big number of images to achieve a good performance. The skin cancer classification task suffers from providing deep learning with sufficient data due to the expensive annotation process and required experts. One of the most used solutions is transfer learning of pre-trained models of the ImageNet dataset. However, the learned features of pre-trained models are different from skin cancer image features. To end this, we introduce a novel approach of transfer learning by training the pre-trained models of the ImageNet (VGG, GoogleNet, and ResNet50) on a large number of unlabelled skin cancer images, first. We then train them on a small number of labeled skin images. Our experimental results proved that the proposed method is efficient by achieving an accuracy of 84% with ResNet50 when directly trained with a small number of labeled skin and 93.7% when trained with the proposed approach.

Effectiveness of maternity waiting homes in increasing utilization of facility-based delivery: A systematic review

To reduce the second delay contributing to maternal mortality, maternity waiting homes have been recommended for implementation especially in remote areas to help improve access to facility-based skilled delivery. Evidence of its effectiveness, however, is limited. This systematic review, therefore, aims to assess the effectiveness of the Maternity waiting home strategy in increasing utilization of facility delivery. Search for relevant articles was conducted on PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, Ebscohost, and Science Direct from database inception to March 30, 2021. Two reviewers independently screened the articles and assessed the quality of the studies. The identified maternity waiting home interventions and their effectiveness in improving facility-based delivery uptake were narratively synthesized and reported following the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis reporting guidelines. The search yielded 670 articles of which five studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The three of five studies revealed that there is a significant association between Maternity waiting home use and utilization of facility-based delivery. The quality of the Maternity waiting homes significantly improved facility-based delivery uptake. Maternity Waiting Homes appear to be promising in decreasing barriers to skilled delivery attendance however the quality of evidence is low. More interventional studies of robust design are needed to clearly demonstrate its effectiveness.

The development of homogeneity psycho cognition learning strategy in physical education learning

Many future studies have been developed by scientists today in the form of methods, models, strategies, and techniques in improving student learning outcomes that are oriented to psychology and the development of students' intelligence. One of the latest innovations in learning offered in this study is the homogeneity psycho cognition (HPC) strategy. The research objective was to develop the latest learning strategies in physical education, sports, and health learning. This development research uses a 4D model consisting of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate to produce products in the form of an HPC learning strategy. This study involved 115 elementary school students in several sample schools in Ambon City as participants. This study found that the HPC learning strategy had been developed following the relevant development directions and procedures. The validation of the HPC strategy by experts indicates that the HPC strategy is feasible to implement with due regard to minor revisions. The results of small and medium-scale trials show that the HPC strategy can improve student learning outcomes.

Family planning instructor’s performance in the toddler family development program

Family planning instructors are vital in implementing the toddler family development program considering their function. This article aims: i) Analyze the performance of family planning instructors in the implementation of the toddler family development program/bina keluarga balita (BKB); ii) Analyse the factors supporting and inhibiting the effectiveness of the performance of family planning instructors in the community. This research used quantitative methods through survey instruments with a population of all family planning instructors which implementing toddler family development program. The pandemic situation has made the data collection process carried out by online questionnaires with Google Forms application. In order to obtain the required data, data collection was carried out through a questionnaire with a sample of 84 respondents. Data analysis was performed through descriptive statistical analysis using MS.Excel and SPSS. The data analysis concluded that the performance of family planning instructors in managing the program is in the good category. In the process approach, effectiveness is shown from the fulfillment of these performance variables in the implementation of the program, so that by looking at the categories in the cumulative analysis that are in the good category.

Efficient hardware implementation for lightweight mCrypton algorithm using FPGA

The lightweight cryptography is used for low available resources devices such as radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, internet of things (IoTs) and wireless sensor networks. In such case, the lightweight cryptographic algorithms should consider power consumption, design area, speed, and throughput. This paper presents a new architecture of mCrypton lightweight cryptographic algorithm which considers the above-mentioned conditions. Resource-shared structure is used to reduce the area of the new architecture. The proposed architecture is implemented using ISE Xilinx V14,5 and Spartan 3 FPGA platform. The simulation results introduced that the proposed design area is 375 of slices, up to 302 MHz operating frequency, a throughput of 646 Mbps, efficiency of 1.7 Mbps/slice and 0.089 Watt power consumption. Thus, the proposed architecture outperforms similar architectures in terms of area, speed, efficiency and throughput.

Textbooks based on local wisdom to improve reading and writing skills of elementary school students

Many elementary students still find it difficult to understand the literature content used and it automatically affects their reading and writing skills. However, the adjustment of literature with local wisdom-based content needs to be considered as a supporting tool. This study aimed to improve reading and writing skills using textbook based on local wisdom. The sample was grade 4 of elementary school students who selected using purposive random sampling. This research used a nonequivalent control group design through the experiment and control classes. Data were collected through writing and reading skills test of 32 students in each class and analyzed using N-gain to describe the treatment effect. The results showed that textbooks based on local wisdom were more effective than teaching materials that were not integrated by local wisdom at improving students' reading and writing skills. In the future, this study is a reference for teachers to apply local wisdom to other learning themes.

EFL university teachers’ perspectives in written corrective feedback and their actual applications

This study aimed to investigate the English as a foreign language (EFL) university teachers’ perspective and their actual applications in providing written corrective feedback to the writing errors made by the EFL university students and their correlation. The study was based on 80 responses of a Google-Form survey distributed to EFL university teachers with various teaching experiences from the most parts of Indonesia. Correlational design was used in this research. Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation tests were used to analyze data. The results indicated that the majority of teachers had perspectives that it is valuable to provide and vary the strategies of written corrective feedback. In addition, the teachers mostly applied both direct and indirect feedback in various strategies and they only sometimes provided corrections in all aspects of errors and reformulation. It was also found out that the Indonesian EFL university teachers’ perspectives in the written corrective on students’ writing errors highly correlated with their actual applications. The results of the study provide both theoretical and pedagogical implications. Theoretically, it enriches the body knowledge of feedback and EFL writing. Pedagogically, EFL teachers are also suggested to improve their knowledge on various feedback techniques and apply it in their classroom teaching and learning process.

Survey on: A variety of AQM algorithm schemas and intelligent techniques developed for congestion control

The congestion on the internet is the main issue that affects the performance of transition data over the network. An algorithm for congestion control is required to keep any network efficient and reliable for transfer traffic data of the users. Many Algorithms had been suggested over the years to improve the control of congestion that occurs in the network such as drop tail packets. Recently there are many algorithms have been developed to overcome the drawback of the drop tail procedure. One of the important algorithms developed is active queue management (AQM) that provides efficient congestion control by reducing drop packets, this technique considered as a base for many other congestion control algorithms schema. It works at the network core (router) for controlling the drop and marking of packets in the router's buffer before the congestion inception. In this study, a comprehensive survey is done on the AQM Algorithm schemas that proposed and modification these algorithms to achieve the best performance, the classification of AQM algorithms based on queue length, queue delay, or both. The advantages and limitations of each algorithm have been discussed. Also, debate the intelligent techniques procedure with AQM algorithm to achieve optimization in performance of algorithm operation. Finally, the comparison has been discussed among algorithms to find the weakness and powerful of each one based on different metrics.

Work readiness during COVID-19 among taxibike online drivers in Samarinda, Indonesia

COVID-19 caused a pandemic around the world, including in Indonesia. This greatly affected the informal business sector, such as online taxibike drivers. The success of this program to control the spread of COVID-19 is greatly influenced by knowledge, attitudes, and actions in the community. The purpose of this study was to identify behavioral factors during the pandemic. An online survey was conducted with 100 online taxibike drivers using a structured questionnaire and Google Forms. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rank test with CI of 95%. Although most online taxibike drivers have sufficient knowledge about COVID-19, some drivers had important misconceptions about COVID-19, namely that COVID-19 is not contagious, weak immune resistance may cause them to contract COVID-19, and it is highly unlikely that they will contract COVID-19 when leaving the house without wearing a mask, and believing that handwashing with soap and using hand sanitizer will not prevent COVID-19. To address these misconceptions, interventions should be targeted to online taxibike drivers to increase their health education and literacy regarding the urgency of preventing COVID-19. It is also important to consider incorporating both interpersonal approaches and conventional and digital-based groups when encouraging changes in their attitudes and practices towards COVID-19.

Enhancement of WiMAX networks using OPNET modeler platform

Worldwide interoperability microwave access (WiMAX) is an 802.16 wireless standard that delivers high speed, provides a data rate of 100 Mbps and a coverage area of 50 km. Voice over internet protocol (VoIP) is flexible and offers low-cost telephony for clients over IP. However, there are still many challenges that must be addressed to provide a stable and good quality voice connection over the internet. The performance of various parameters such as multipath channel model and bandwidth over the Star trajectoryWiMAX network were evaluated under a scenario consisting of four cells. Each cell contains one mobile and one base station. Network performance metrics such as throughput and MOS were used to evaluate the best performance of VoIP codecs. Performance was analyzed via OPNET program14.5. The result use of multipath channel model (disable) was better than using the model (ITU pedestrian A). The value of the throughput at 15 dB was approximately 1600 packet/sec, and at -1 dB was its value 1300 packet/se. According to data, the Multipath channel model of the disable type the value of the MOS was better than the ITU Pedestrian A type.

Developing student’s metacognitive ability in science through project-based learning with e-portfolio

The present study aimed to investigate the metacognitive ability of students using e-portfolio assessment in project-based learning classes. The projects were a set out a critical analysis based on the selected references (project 1) and set out of field activities based on the selected theme content (project 2). Student metacognitive ability consists of three phases, planning, implementation, and evaluation abilities that were assessed through e-portfolio assignments. There were 87 participants who divided into groups consisted of four to five students, conducted the projects, and submitted the progress of their projects in every decided step into online report assignments. The rubric of metacognition was used to acquire the quantitative score of skill that was separated into six levels category: not yet, at risk, not-really, developing, OK, and super. The result revealed that 44.83% of the students belong to the last three of those levels and the rest are otherwise. The lowest and highest metacognitive ability of the student is “not really” and “developing” respectively. Student metacognitive ability through conducting the project 2 activities is higher than project 1. Implementation strategy of primary health care in Ovia communities

Primary health care is the essential health service provided at the grassroot level. Over the years the implementation of Primary Health Care (PHC) programmes in Edo state are bedeviled with associated challenges such as limited community participation, great communication gap that limit evaluation processes of PHC programme and slow pace collaboration among stakeholders. These challenges need to be averted through effective and people oriented strategies to ensure the implementation of primary health care. A descriptive research design with a population of the study comprised 1,024 primary health care stakeholders in Edo state. Multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 180 respondents for the study. The study found that intersectoral collaboration involving partnerships with community health agencies such as village health committees and ward health committees significantly influenced the implementation of PHC. Intersectoral collaboration, community mobilization strategy and community feedback mechanism are effective and efficient strategies for improved implementation of PHC programmes. The study recommended among others that National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA) should strengthen partnership with international health organizations such as WHO, UNICEF, GAVI, UNDP and boost confidence and trust of these international organizations.

CLG clustering for dropout prediction using log-data clustering method

Implementation of data mining, machine learning, and statistical data from educational department commonly known as educational data mining. Most of school systems require a teacher to teach a number of students at one time. Exam are regularly being use as a method to measure student’s achievement, which is difficult to understand because examination cannot be done easily. The other hand, programming classes makes source code editing and UNIX commands able to easily detect and store automatically as log-data. Hence, rather that estimating the performance of those student based on this log-data, this study being more focused on detecting them who experienced a difficulty or unable to take programming classes. We propose CLG clustering methods that can predict a risk of being dropped out from school using cluster data for outlier detection.

Satisfaction on the university frontline services: From the lens of transacting students and employees

Client satisfaction is an influential predictor of academic life, such as services delivered with suitable standards. Thus, the study focused on determining the level of client satisfaction on the frontline services of Cagayan State University in Aparri, Philippines from the perspective of students and employees. To assess suitability, relevance, and to ensure adequate and reliable information for the evaluation of the study, the researchers adopted the descriptive- evaluative design and ascertained the level of clients’ satisfaction on the frontline services received and experienced on the campus. The study, however, was limited to the assessment of the respondents on their level of contentment only on the frontline services and providers they have encountered. The results indicated a very high level of satisfaction with which heads of offices have gained higher satisfaction ratings than that of their staff. When grouped according to the respondents’ profile, the older students rated higher the frontline services and providers than the younger ones. At the same time, regular employees have a higher level of satisfaction as compared to non-regular. The result of the study manifests students' and employees’ very high contentment with the actual performances of the frontline service providers.

Design of fractional order PID controller for AVR system using whale optimization algorithm

In this paper a robust fractional order PID (FOPID) controller is proposed to control the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system, the tuning of the controller gains are done using whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and integral time absolute error (ITAE) cost function is adopted to achieve an efficient performance. The transient analysis was done and compared with conventional PID in terms of overshoot, settling time, rise time, and peak time to explain the superiority of the proposed controller. Finally, a robustness analysis is done by adding external disturbances to the system and changing the system parameters by ±20% from its original value, the controller overcomes the disturbances signals with less than 0.25 s and faces the changes of the system values and returning the response within (0.7-1) sec and led the system to the desired response efficiently. The numerical simulations showed that the smart WOA offers satisfying results and faster response reflected clearly on the robust and stable performance of the proposed controller in improving the transient analysis of AVR system response.
